**Chapter 15: A Desperate Call**
Ryan sat in his office, his focus locked on the documents before him as his clients droned on about their latest business proposal. His mind, however, was elsewhere—lingering on Emily, on the mystery that consumed his every thought.
Then his phone rang.
Expecting a routine call, he answered without hesitation. "Ryan speaking."
"Ryan—" Kia's voice was a frantic whisper, panic dripping from every syllable. "Something's wrong with Emily. She won't wake up. I don't know what to do!"
The world around him stilled.
Ryan didn't hesitate. "Where are you?"
"Driving. She woke up for a second but passed out again. Ryan, this has never happened before. Not for this long."
He could hear the fear in Kia's voice, but his own was eerily steady. "Listen to me. Take her to my penthouse. I'll be there soon."
He ended the call before she could argue, shoving his chair back so forcefully that it scraped against the floor. The clients in front of him stared, confused by the sudden shift in his demeanor.
"The meeting is over," Ryan announced, already striding toward the door. "We'll reschedule."
His bodyguard, Miko, fell into step beside him. "Something wrong?"
Ryan's jaw clenched. "Emily. She needs me."
Miko nodded, wasting no time as they reached the private elevator. As the doors closed, Ryan's fingers tightened around his phone.
Emily was slipping further from his grasp.
And he wouldn't allow that to happen.
