Where do i start, I died... and was reincarnated into another world.
I've been living in a new body for the past 13 years. This is set in a medieval period with kings and queens and shit.
This world is a sportshub.
It has all the modern tech related to sports, Not only that but this world is pretty much the exact same tech wise like the world i lived in.
The only difference is that this world is a sports hub. It's main entertainment is not movies but sports.
Man, women, children, Old people... doesn't matter who or what they are. They like 1 sport or the other.
Just like my world, Soccer is the most popular sport.
And it has all the other sports that my world had.
It makes me wonder, if i came to this world for a reason.
Because, while not at a young age i was very much involved with cricket.
A sport which people would die for in my hometown.
And, probably the only place the sport is popular at.
I Don't understand why the sport is not popular anywhere else.
Was it because of test cricket? Which goes on for 5 days?
was it 50 over which is slow paced.
or was it t20? were scoring was very easy. which made the sport seem easy?
Probably all these reasons honestly.
who'd wanna watch a sport that goes on for 5 days?
Heck, who'd watch something if it went on for a whole day.
It started at 2:30 in the morning and ended at 10 in the night.
Than there's t20. Although, it's lasts for about 4 hours and starts at 7:30 in the evening.
The roads they call pitches are often sad to watch.
The bowling legends get treated like small kids because of those belters.
Batsman score 100's for fun.
The fact that 3 years ago 150 was a good score now even 250 isn't enough.
Making the sport seem awfully easy.
But, the reality is. The sport is not easy.
Not one bit.
This sport has way more variations than baseball.
This game has way more tactical moves in terms of fielding and bowling than football.
People think it's not a physically exhausting game but the average athlete would not survive a 4 hour game on the pitch.
The fielders have to run every minute on that 22 yard pitch, the bowlers have to cover 10 - 15 metres while running every time the ball comes their way.
Timing, Placement for batsman and only 1 innings availabe for batsman so if you get out you won't get a 2nd chance unless it's test match.
1 mistake and your carrier might end considering the situation of the game. well that's probably every game out there.
Cricket is not easy, nor is it a primitive sport.
It's certainly not Lame, That many other sporting lovers call it.
It is a sport that seems easy to the viewers but the moment you start being more involved with the game you'll realise it's not at all easy.
Every sport, to another person who has no Knowledge of it seems easy to them when in reality it's not.
From an outsider's prospective football seems easy to them, it's just kicking the ball into the goal but a person who's watched and is knowledgeable about it is the only one who'll understand the complexity of the sport.
Full tosses which is about 100% of baseball is easy to cricket players.
But, it's easy because of the way the bat is designed.
But on the other hand, A baseball batsman will not be able to hit a ball that's hit th cricketing pitch.
Why you ask?
What will happen if the ball pitches on a crack on the ground? Or a rock?
It turns without notice.
It's unpredictable because of the fact that these pitches sometimes have cracks and sometimes don't.
There's also the soil type that will make the conditions to bat on either easier or harder.
For example, there's a pitch that makes the ball just stay there for a split second when the ball lands on the ground.
Which in turn make the reflexes built by cricketers worthless.
Because timing is crucial. And, that split second of gap is enough.
To make the batsman not time the ball.
And than there's swing and spin.
Imagine the ball taps close to your right leg but than turns so sharply that it'll pass through your left leg.
Now imagine, some balls spin like that and some balls just go straight into your right leg.
Would you be able to make a decision?
Just imagine a situation where you are getting ready for the spin but it doesn't happen.
But when you are premeditating no spin it turns sharply.
That's the thing, nobody not even th bowler knows if the ball will spin or not.
While the spin itself is because of the skill of the bowler but the decision of if the ball will spin or not is up to the pitch.
If you ball it on the right areas it'll definately spin.
Some go inside the batsman and some just leave the batsman.
These are called off spin and leg spin.
Leg spin is a ball that's turns and comes towards the batsman while an off spin is a ball that's comes towards the batsman but turns away.
And based on these 2 principles of spin there are many variations like googly, doosra, Top spin, Army ball and many more.
Than there's the control of speed when you throw a ball.
Also unlike Baseball where you can literally throw a ball.
You can't throw a ball in cricket.
When delivering a ball your hand should be as straight as an arrow.
And you can't stand and bowl you have to have some kind of a run up before doing so.
There are different types of run ups.
Small and big are the most common ones.
Small ones are usually done by spinners because they don't need to gather pace by running.
While seamers or fast bowlers have a run up. This run up is generally so you could get an increase in pace.
You can't get the pace by bowling with a small runup.
Because of the fact that you have to have a stretched arm at a straight angle to be a legal delivery.
There are many rules in cricket that go unnoticed.
Cricket is not easy, it's the cricketers who make it seem easy.
