The entity continued staring at Lilith for a good minute before moving his gaze towards the handsome young man.
Kai looked at the entity in silence. Many questions were raised in his mind, but he knew he had to be careful. Seeing that the entity easily subdued the old man he has also grown cautious.
The entity smirked at Kai and spoke. "Who would have thought that a relic I made millions of years ago would find its way in such a desolate place. And even more surprisingly someone in such a backward world will even pass its test."
He continued to look at Kai with a profound look. "Tell me kid. What is your name?" The entity questioned.
"Kai!" Kai declared proudly.
"Hmm… even though your strength is pitifully weak, your unwavering will it truly commendable. Furthermore, you even have a peculiar world spirit following you. Truly Interesting!" The entity said and then turned silent. Its thoughts unknown.
Kai then finally managed to gather the courage to ask. "Senior, who might you be?" His voice was neither dominant nor servile. He asked with pure curiosity.
The entity lips curved and a smile. "Heah… kid there are some things in the world that you are better off not getting too curious about."
The entity then continued. "But since you have completed one of my most difficult tests, I shall allow you to address me as 'The Heavenly Sovereign' for the time being."
"I understand Senior Sovereign." Kai knew the other party didn't want to reveal their identity, so he didn't push his luck.
The entity nodded its head with satisfaction. "I shall now explain why I appeared here."
"I am the creator of the Heavenly Steps; I created it out of boredom and installed a test in it and threw it out." The entity nonchalantly said, dumbfounding everyone.
'He just threw such a miraculous thing out?' They thought.
"The Heavenly Steps was then found and its owner constantly changed with time, it traveled through many worlds and universes, at this point it must have already covered a little part of the entire starry sky."
"Even after all this time, even though there were some people capable of withstanding the pressure of the 9th step, only you have ever survived after experiencing the heavenly tribulations." The Sovereign said with a faint smile.
Kai's body shuddered remembering that terrifying lightning. He never wanted to come close to those damn stairs again.
"Honestly even I couldn't help but be amazed, I created it especially so it could take advantage of the slightest doubt in a person's mind. People have many thoughts going through their head while undergoing such trials."
"Some doubt their strength, some their confidence, some their will, some fail due to the burden of expectations while many even fail by being too proud. You were the first who only had absolute determination and confidence while going through my test. I couldn't imagine the kind of life you must have lived; honestly you looked almost desperate to reach the final step." The entity spoke.
Kai couldn't help as a small smile crept onto his face as he remembered Arya. He was only able to pass because of the motivation he got from her.
'She is helping me even when she is not currently present here. That little sister of mine is truly amazing.' He thought and lightly started giggling.
Seeing Kai like this The Sovereign's curiosity on this kid only grew.
"Anyways, I don't have much time remaining before I disappear. For your hard work of passing my test, you will naturally be rewarded!" The Sovereign said with a smile, which piqued Kai's interest.
'What would such a difficult trial have as its reward?' He pondered.
Then with a profound look The Sovereign said. "If fate allows it, we shall meet again, this is just a fragment of my soul, if you can find my real self in this vast starry sky, I shall award you with even greater riches than what you will receive today. After receiving the treasures use a single drop of your blood on them, you will know the rest of the process naturally."
"Don't die too young kid, after receiving this Sovereign's treasures you must rise above others, I shall await the day we get to meet again!" He finished with a mysterious smile.
Just like that before Kai even had time to open his mouth to ask all the questions troubling him. The entity's entire body trembled and separated into 2 equal parts. Both the parts took the shape of two objects and hovered in front of Kai.
Kai sighed knowing he won't get his answers so easily. He wanted to know more about Lilith and her origins. He knew with the entity's strength and his previous gaze he must have spotted Lilith. Kai wanted to ask him about her, but life just isn't that easy.
Kai took the first object and inspected it; he found it to be a black sword. It exuded an ominous aura around it, but strangely in Kai's hand it felt oddly comfortable, and he felt completely unbothered by the aura which could make a normal human shiver with fear.
Kai used a drop of his blood on the sword as instructed. He didn't feel any need to doubt the entity's word since it was fully capable of killing them without any despicable scheming.
As the blood came in contact with the sword. Like a hungry beast his blood was instantly absorbed and started coursing throughout the weapon. Kai could now feel a connection between him and the sword, allowing him to finally use the system on the weapon.
