Chapter 29 - Chp 29

Despite Jon's repeated hints, Professor Sprout still seemed to have not guessed that the monster that caused the three attacks was a basilisk.

At least the Hogwarts authorities did not take any obvious measures against the basilisk... such as distributing snake repellent floral water to all teachers and students in the school, and letting Hagrid raise a large number of honey badgers.

Fortunately, as expected, after Christmas, Hogwarts seemed to have returned to its usual tranquility.

In addition to Hermione Granger's disappearance for several weeks, many students were talking about it, and everyone naturally thought that she had been attacked. However, Madam Pomfrey clearly explained to everyone that Miss Granger had just had a Transfiguration accident, not an attack, and would recover soon.

Now, the sun seemed to be rising again over Hogwarts.

Inside the castle, everyone's mood became more optimistic...there had been no attacks since Justin and Nearly Headless Nick.

Professor Sprout also brought news that the mandrake was growing well and would soon mature and be used to help the victims who had been turned into stone return to their original form.

Jon heard her say to Filch in a Herbology class: "As long as the pimples are mature, they can be replanted; then, it won't be long before Professor Snape can use them to prepare the antidote, and your Mrs. Norris will be back soon."

Everything seems to be going in the right direction.

...

...

Jon knew the reason very well. According to the original plot, Ginny Weasley discarded and tried to destroy Tom Riddle's diary... She was no longer controlled by the Horcrux, so naturally there would be no more attacks.

And Tom Riddle's diary is now in Harry Potter's hands, and Harry has not yet mastered how to use it.

This means that Hogwarts must be safe in the next two months... Tom Riddle can no longer rely on Ginny to open the door of the Chamber of Secrets, and the basilisk will naturally not wander around the school.

Jon had been on edge for half a year, and now he seemed to have time to relax.

Gilderoy Lockhart felt that this was his credit.

"I don't think there will be any more trouble, Minerva," Jon heard him say during one of their conversations. "I don't think the Chamber will ever be opened again this time; the criminals must have known that I would catch them sooner or later!"

For some reason, Jon always felt that Professor Lockhart was a little dumb.

 …

During this period, Jon spent most of his spare time in the Room of Requirement... to make up for the loss of more than half a month during Christmas when he was unable to practice magic.

And because he knew the original plot and knew that this period of time was safe, he no longer deliberately controlled the time he went in and out of the Hufflepuff common room, as long as he did not violate school rules.

At this moment, in the Room of Requirement.

An Eastern European man, who is not tall but extremely agile, is dodging the attacks of several moving dummies in front of him.

He was so strong that he could smash a dummy made of stone slab into pieces with one punch.

He is also very fast and can easily run 100 meters in less than 12 seconds.

What's more important is the keen sense of hearing, which allows you to know the direction of the enemy even with your eyes closed.

Sergei Pavlov is worthy of being the most outstanding member of the 1976 Kazan training camp and an excellent KGB agent who has won the Order of the Red Banner. His body is almost naturally suitable for fighting and he is a perfect soldier.

Jon has been transformed for nearly four hours, and he can now fully control this body.

He had practiced with the less powerful pistol many times. With his twelve-year-old body, he could now use it to hit close-range targets with relative accuracy (the P pistol was originally designed for civilian personnel and female agents).

I haven't tried the more powerful one yet. After all, I'm not sure whether the Room of Requirement has good sound insulation... otherwise it would be bad if a gunshot attracted a bunch of people.

As the Eastern European man suddenly fell to the ground, twitching violently.

His body began to shrink little by little, and finally turned into the appearance of Jon Hart, a first-year Hufflepuff student.

The feeling of taking Polyjuice Potion is really not pleasant. Your body is suddenly stretched or flattened like a toy. It is very painful... I really don't know how Barty Crouch Jr. persisted in taking it for a year and always looked like Moody!

After a few minutes of rest, Jon changed his clothes and picked up the wand beside him.

He muttered something to a moving dummy in front of him, and a beam of orange-yellow light shot towards the dummy's eyes.

After nearly half a year of hard training, he seemed to have mastered the Eye Spell, a spell that did not rely on emotions, to perfection.

Even if a fire dragon appeared in front of him, he was now confident that he could cause his opponent extreme pain with a single Eye Curse; of course, being trampled into a meat pie by the mad fire dragon was not something he could consider.

However, compared with the eye spell, the progress of the other main learning content was not so smooth.

Jon had already gone to the library to find the book "Close Your Brain" which recorded how to use the brain block technique... He had also memorized the contents of the book by heart.

In the past six months, he has tried his best to train his brain according to the contents of the book every day when he wakes up, goes to bed, and has other leisure time.

I can clearly feel that I have made some progress in this area, but not much.

And there was still the same old problem. No matter how hard he tried, he would never know exactly how far he had come in terms of training... After all, it was impossible to ask a powerful wizard to perform Legilimency on him to verify this.

Jon sat on the sofa in the Room of Requirement with a serious expression... For him, Occlumency was the most urgent thing he needed to master.

 Suddenly, Jon stood up.

 He thought of one thing:

Occlumency is not normal magic, and requires no wand or spell.

It is just a pure intuition, a conditioned reflex.

Intuition is something that can be copied by Polyjuice Potion... For example, Sergei's fighting instincts. After taking the Polyjuice Potion and becoming him, one can completely control those fighting instincts unconsciously.

So if you transform yourself into a powerful Occlumency wizard, will it help you understand Occlumency?

 Jon suddenly became excited.

As it happens, Hogwarts happens to have a very accomplished Occlumency master.

 "Severus Snape!"

Polyjuice Potion requires a strand of hair from the person being transformed. There is no doubt that pulling out a strand of Snape's hair is like pulling a tooth from a tiger's mouth!

The risk is huge and the chance of failure is not small...but the benefits are extremely substantial, so it seems worth a try?
