Chapter 10 - His ability to heal

"You pervert!"

Logan continued to laugh even though the pains remained, while Adalyn couldn't believe that Logan had been eyeing her body. What made him look at her that way?

She remembered him telling her to turn him on two weeks ago on their wedding night. He sounded as if he wasn't attracted to her but now he was pervertedly looking at her and was laughing when she caught him.

Silence reigned after he stopped laughing because his actions brought Adalyn to her senses and also reminded her that she needed to be cautious around a charming man like Logan.

To Adalyn, she felt like Logan was up to no good and was making her let her guard down by creating a bond between them. She wasn't going to let that happen because he would always be a monster.

She was about to leave the chair when Logan moved his muscles just to grab the tip of her finger. "Don't leave me," his desperate voice reminded her of the first night she spent in his house and Logan didn't leave her until the next morning.

"Why shouldn't I?" She sounded upset with him. "You don't want to tell me anything…"

"I fought…it was wild but I came home to my wife so I won, right?" He didn't let her finish before he started.

Adalyn was confused. She shook her head, looked away and used her hands to release her tied hair. The man laying on the bed witnessed how her long brown hair dropped to her waist. Her hair was adorable.

"Why did you get married to me? What's the connection? What's the reason?" She sat on the chair, hoping that Logan would say something.

Logan looked at her for a while and turned to look elsewhere. "Can we talk about this another time?" He sounded tired.

His action woke Adalyn's conscience, making her feel remorse. She was quiet for a while, thinking about what Logan's reason was for him to marry her. He did mention that he wanted children but that couldn't be the only reason especially when he kept making it seem like their marriage was normal by saying he came back to her. Why would he choose to do that?

"What are you thinking?" When she raised her gaze to look at him, thinking he was still looking away, she met his blue eyes instead.

"You…"

"I want to sleep," Logan surprised her. "I'm healing slowly and I'm thinking that if I fall asleep now, I'll wake up fully healed."

"Go to sleep then," she stood up from the chair to leave. She was done with Logan and she hated herself for caring about him. He didn't want to tell her anything and that didn't make her satisfied.

"Tell me something about yourself," Logan requested.

"When I know about you, you'll learn about me too," she responded. Her eyes fell on the mattress he was lying on; it was soaked in blood and that didn't sit well with her. "Sleep well," she located the exit and saw the frypan from earlier on the floor. Adalyn picked it up and left.

She went straight to the kitchen and prepared something for dinner. Cooking took her two hours, giving her a lot of time to think about Logan and what surrounded him, what made him end up in that state and why he considered their marriage so important.

She had dinner and returned to her room.

The next morning, the reflection of the sun forced Adalyn to wake up. Her eyes opened to behold the harsh light coming from the window, then she remembered that she fell asleep while watching a movie on her phone and forgot to let down the curtains. She never finished the movie and wasn't planning to continue.

Adalyn remembered all that happened yesterday and how Logan made her felt by hiding things from her. She decided not to spoil her morning by thinking about him, so she stood up after checking the time and stretched until she was satisfied.

She filled her water glass with water and gulp. As she drank the water, she heard the creaking sound of her door opening slowly. With that, she turned her head to the door, still drinking the water.

Logan didn't expect Adalyn to be awake, therefore, he planned to enter her room unannounced and watch her sleep for a while but when he entered her room like a thief and closed her door gently to make no sound, he met those glowing hazel eyes of hers.

He was caught.

His lips stretched into a smile as he brought his hand to the back of his head to scratch. He was embarrassed.

"Good morning," he decided to make the atmosphere normal.

"Logan?" Adalyn was shocked to see him standing and looking okay. His body was damaged last night. She didn't expect him to have recovered this fast.

She walked up to him and immediately raised his shirt to see what his body looked like. He was completely healed and it stunned her so much that she had to take a few steps back.

"I did tell you that I'll be…"

"How?"

"Adalyn…" he didn't want to explain why he could heal so fast because it wasn't the right time. He definitely didn't want to endanger his wife.

Adalyn went back to him and attempted to unzip his shorts because she still found it unbelievable that he had healed.

"Adalyn…" he grabbed her hands to stop her but he saw the nails she had done and had to take a moment to admire how beautiful her fingers were.

"You healed?! That's impossible!" She was very surprised but what would be her expression if she realized that he was supposed to be completely healed before he returned home but the poison delayed it?

"You know I'm not ordinary, right?" He reminded her of their conversation last night.

"Never expected this," she looked at his body with his hands still cuffing hers. "What else can you do?"

"I have super speed ability?" He said it as if it was normal.

Adalyn's mouth went open. "You aren't human…"

He thought she knew, which was why he was free to show her his abilities. They were literally the same species, so why was she surprised?
