Chapter 2: I'm done

Sewa walked into the boardroom, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. The crisp scent of fresh coffee and expensive cologne lingered in the air, a testament to the importance of the meeting about to take place. She clutched the necessary files in her hand, her grip firm but steady.

The summer associates were already there, setting up the projector and adjusting the lights. As she approached, they greeted her with polite nods and murmured "Good morning, ma'am." She responded with a brief nod of acknowledgment before handing over the flash drive containing her presentation.

Her gaze swept across the room, noting the neatly arranged chairs and the large conference table. Toward the far end, Mr. Adedayo sat, his expression unreadable as he skimmed through some documents.

He glanced up as she walked in and gave her an approving nod. "The files are very impressive," he remarked. "All that remains is a satisfactory presentation."

Sewa met his gaze with quiet confidence. "Thank you, sir. I'm more than prepared for this presentation."

Mr. Adedayo studied her for a moment before nodding and returning to his work. Taking that as her cue, Sewa walked to the front of the room and settled into a chair, placing the files on the table before her.

She exhaled softly, flipping through the documents one last time. Every detail was in place. Every number was accurate. She had prepared for this moment, and now, all that was left was execution.

The projector blinked to life, casting a bright glow onto the screen. It was almost time.

A few minutes later, the boardroom door swung open, and three men walked in.

Leading them was Mr. Adekunle Williams, a man whose name carried weight in the real estate industry. He was in his early fifties but carried himself with the confidence of a man who had seen it all and conquered even more. His dark, neatly trimmed beard gave him a distinguished look, and his tailored navy-blue suit spoke of wealth and precision. His sharp eyes scanned the room with a mix of curiosity and expectation.

Behind him, two imposing men in black suits followed closely—his bodyguards. They moved with quiet efficiency, their eyes subtly assessing every corner of the room, making it clear that their job was not just for show.

To Mr. Williams' right was a young man in his early thirties, dressed in a sleek gray suit. This was Dare, his personal assistant. He carried a tablet in one hand and a leather-bound notepad in the other, ready to jot down any key details.

The men exchanged pleasantries with Mr. Adedayo before taking their seats. Mr. Williams leaned back slightly, his fingers interlocked on the table as he turned his gaze to Sewa. Mr. Adedayo gave her a small nod—a silent cue to begin.

Sewa straightened her posture and took a measured breath before stepping forward. It was time to show them why Skyrise Firm was the best choice.

"Good morning, gentlemen," she began, her voice smooth and professional. "I appreciate you taking the time to meet with us today. As you all know, real estate is not just about land and property—it's about long-term investment, security, and sustainability. And that's where Skyrise Firm comes in."

She clicked the remote in her hand, bringing up the first slide on the projector. A sleek, well-designed presentation appeared, displaying key figures and case studies.

"Our firm specializes in providing top-tier legal services tailored specifically to the real estate sector. We understand that a business of your caliber doesn't just need legal representation—it needs strategic legal foresight. Whether it's contract negotiations, land acquisition disputes, or high-value property transactions, our firm has the expertise to safeguard your interests at every turn."

She gestured toward the next slide, which highlighted some of the firm's most successful real estate cases.

"We have worked with top developers, investors, and commercial property owners, ensuring that their deals are ironclad and legally sound. For instance, last year, we successfully defended a multi-million-dollar commercial real estate acquisition against fraudulent claims, securing our client's investment without delays or losses."

Mr. Williams nodded slightly, his expression unreadable but attentive.

She clicked to the next slide, where compliance and risk management were outlined.

"As you are well aware, the legal landscape in real estate is constantly evolving. Our firm stays ahead of regulatory changes, ensuring that your investments remain compliant with both federal and state laws. We provide proactive risk assessments, due diligence services, and airtight contracts to mitigate potential liabilities before they even arise."

Dare, the assistant, was already taking notes, his fingers moving swiftly over his tablet.

Sewa paused for a moment, then leveled her gaze at Mr. Williams. "What sets Skyrise Firm apart isn't just our experience or our success rate—it's our commitment. We don't just represent our clients; we partner with them to anticipate challenges, strategize effectively, and secure the best possible outcomes."

She switched to the final slide—a bold statement in clean, modern typography.

"Your Investments, Our Expertise—A Partnership for the Future."

She closed the presentation, placing the remote gently on the table. "Mr. Williams, you've built a formidable name in real estate, and we want to ensure that your legal affairs match the excellence of your business. With Skyrise Firm, you get not just a legal team but a dedicated partner invested in your long-term success."

Silence settled over the room for a moment.

Then, Mr. Williams exhaled softly, a small, impressed smile forming at the corner of his lips. He glanced at Mr. Adedayo before nodding. "That was... thorough. I like thorough."

Sewa allowed herself a quiet moment of satisfaction. Step one—complete.

Mr. Williams leaned forward slightly, tapping his fingers on the table. His sharp eyes studied Sewa before he spoke.

"Impressive presentation, Ms. Adesewa. But tell me, how does Skyrise handle cases involving high-profile property disputes? We often find ourselves dealing with competitors who aren't above using legal loopholes to delay projects."

Sewa met his gaze steadily. "That's a common issue in the industry, sir. At Skyrise, we prioritize preventative legal structuring. That means drafting contracts with airtight dispute resolution clauses, ensuring swift arbitration rather than prolonged litigation. In the rare case that things escalate, our litigation team has a 90% success rate in expediting real estate trials, ensuring minimal business disruption."

Mr. Williams nodded thoughtfully. "And what about government regulations? With new policies affecting commercial properties, how do you ensure compliance without slowing down development?"

Sewa smoothly transitioned to her next point. "We have a dedicated compliance division that works in real-time with policy updates. Before any major investment, we conduct thorough zoning law reviews, environmental impact assessments, and municipal tax evaluations. This ensures that your projects are future-proofed against shifting regulations."

Dare, the assistant, leaned over and whispered something to Mr. Williams, who gave a small nod before turning back to Sewa. "Alright, Ms. Adesewa. You've addressed every concern we had. I don't see a reason to drag this out."

He extended his hand. "Consider it a done deal."

Sewa took his hand firmly, shaking it with confidence. "Thank you, Mr. Williams. We look forward to a successful partnership."

Mr. Williams stood up, signaling for his bodyguards and Dare to follow. "Send over the final paperwork by noon, and we'll have our legal team review it."

"Of course, sir," Sewa responded.

As the men exited the boardroom, she sat back down, letting out a slow breath.

For weeks, she had poured over contracts, conducted research, and prepped for this very moment. The late nights. The endless revisions. The pressure to deliver.

Now, it was over.

She allowed herself a subtle smile.

"I'm done."
