Chapter 25 - Betrayal in the Shadows

After their cup of coffee and quiet conversations, Elian and Mira continued their journey through the dark streets of the city. Suddenly, Mira grabbed his hand. Elian, unsure of what was really happening, tensed up but did not resist. He simply looked at her with slight surprise.

— Follow me if you want, — Mira said with a sly smile, and despite not fully understanding her motives, Elian followed her.

They walked down the quiet streets until they reached a massive bridge, engulfed in the shadows of the night. Mira suddenly pressed him against the cold wall. Elian was shocked. His heart raced, but he had no idea what to do. He couldn't understand what was happening.

— So, are you ready? — Mira asked, her face nearly touching his, her lips almost brushing against his. She smiled, but the smile was far from warm.

At that moment, Elian heard a foreign voice in his head. The voice was clear and loud:

"Who's there?"

Elian looked around in confusion, trying to figure out where the voice came from. His gaze darted, and he felt an odd tension.

Mira noticed his confusion and calmly replied.

— As we agreed, here it is, — her voice was even, but with an undertone of hidden satisfaction.

And then, from the shadows under the bridge, another voice echoed — low and threatening:

"Did you kill my younger brother?"

Elian froze. He didn't understand what was happening. Who was this person? And why were they asking him about a murder? His mind was filled with chaos, his thoughts tangled.

"Why? Why? Why? Why?" — Elian couldn't stop the torrent of thoughts that rushed through his mind like an endless whirlpool.

And suddenly, the voice broke the silence again:

— Are you deaf or what? — the same threatening voice came again, and now Elian realized who stood before him. It was Herman, Jason's brother, with an SS rank. His gaze was filled with fury. — How dare you kill my brother?!

Elian couldn't hold back his laughter. His laugh was harsh, untamed, as though he wasn't laughing himself, but something inside him that was far stronger and more dangerous. His laughter echoed through the recesses of his mind.

"Has he lost his mind?" — Mira said with concern, her voice full of confusion.

Elian fell silent, but in his eyes was something terrifying, something unimaginable. His face twisted into an expression that could freeze hearts. He felt the dark energy coursing through his body. An energy he could not control, but neither could he stop it.

— Wait your turn, mutt, — Elian said to Mira in a dark, threatening voice. His words were like cold steel. He still didn't understand what was happening, but it didn't matter. There was no room for doubt in his soul.

— While I take care of these useless fools, — he said, with an expression of unspeakable cruelty in his voice. It wasn't just a promise; it was a decision.

With those words, Elian stepped forward, and his energy flared like a dark storm, engulfing everything around him. He was ready to destroy anything that stood in his way. His laughter, his gaze — it all meant only one thing: he was no longer the person he used to be. With this step, he was no longer just a hunter; he had become a force with no escape.
