Chapter 12
This is a fictional story by realTensai
Alvis crossed the next street, and the number of students he saw increased with every step. Yet his mind was still on his new level. He stroked his nonexistent beard, the gears in his mind working.
Guess I should take it slow at first.
Since his first level ended, Alvis had done nothing noteworthy about his second one. Yet he still was alive, unscathed. That just confirmed that the girl he had to save had to be someone in his school, or else the system would have forced him to do something during the summer break.
Alvis still couldn't believe that no assassin had come to get him. After hearing the vampire's last words, he was sure they would want to kill him. Maybe they changed their mind. Alvis shook his head, sighing.
"As if."
Even though he didn't want to deal with another assassin, he had to be prepared.
Alvis kept strolling around and, after passing the convenience store, he arrived at his school. However, before entering, he halted, watching around to see something. As he turned his gaze to the right, he noticed young boys that had to be new first years. Their wide mouths and shining eyes were all he needed to see. Their reaction was priceless.
The sheer size and beauty of the school simply overwhelmed them.
Though Alvis couldn't blame them, he was the same when he first saw it in real life. No matter how many pictures or holograms one saw of it, seeing it in real life was just different.
Its buildings towered above you, making one look like a little ant in comparison. Anyone with common sense could see that the school used to be a castle, but has since been renovated into its current state. The school ground was so enormous that it was the only thing one could see no matter how far one looked. Even Alvis had to rely on his digital school map sometimes if he didn't want to get lost.
Alvis took in the scenery, not noticing that someone approached him. However, he then felt it.
"Yoooo, Al, what's good?" Dane said, slapping Alvis on his back.
"Aouuch!"
Alvis felt a sudden pain erupting through his spine, making him almost fall over. Even though his endurance stat went up to 36, this light tap by Dane already had him break out in a cold sweat and Alvis even saw how his health went down by a point.
Those half-giants are way too strong!
"Y-Yo Dane," Alvis responded with a bitter smile.
Yet Dane's genuine bright smile made Alvis slump his shoulders in defeat. They didn't waste time and did their signature handshake. After that, they went to school together.
——
"Damn, it's way too full in here. I had to push my way through just to get a place."
"Yeah, this is what happens when they try to fit the entire school in one hall. We were lucky to find a place so quickly," Alvis said, dropping onto his seat. "But please don't resort to pushing your way through in the future. We don't want you to accidentally kill someone."
Alvis and Dane were waiting for the ceremony to start. Right now, they were in the auditorium together with the rest of the school. The well-known entrance ceremony would soon start.
Most students had already found a place to sit, so everything had calmed down a bit, yet Alvis still grimaced, the urge to hold his ears growing stronger with every second. The students were chatting out loud, probably talking about their summer break or the new school year. Even though Alvis detested the noise, he couldn't blame them. It wasn't like Dane was someone who whispered.
It took a while, and Alvis already wondered when it would start, but then he appeared. The principal.
As soon as he entered the stage, everyone went silent. Especially the first years who didn't yet know the principal kept their mouth shut. Their bodies trembled, their lips quivering. It was the same for Alvis when he first saw him.
The principal didn't say a word as he stepped onto the stage. However, his formidable presence was undeniable. His physique was a testament to strength and power, with well-defined muscles evident even beneath the fabric of his formal attire.
However, it wasn't his stature that had them shaking in primal fear; it was his unique, beastly features that made him stand out. His head bore the distinctive markings of a tiger, with bold stripes running across his fur-covered face. A pair of sharp, amber eyes gleamed with intelligence and authority, captivating anyone who dared to meet his gaze. A set of impressive, curved feline ears adorned his head, twitching occasionally, as if attuned to the sounds around him.
Beneath a well-groomed mane of fur, his human-like face maintained a sense of regality, framed by a pair of prominent whiskers that accentuated his wild, untamed aura. His teeth, though humanoid, were sharp and predatory, hinting at the primal nature inherent in his beastly lineage.
"So he really is a tiger beast man," one first-year whispered.
However, one shouldn't make a judgment just based on his looks. He was the complete opposite of what he looked like, and the first years would soon find that out.
"Welcome, everyone!" His deep voice easily reached every corner of this vast hall. "I'm your super-duper, extremely attractive, and charming principal! I'm the one and only Mr. Woltzer!!!"
There was only silence as everybody processed his weird greeting. It took them a few seconds to realize that this was, in fact, their principal. However, as soon as their minds caught up with reality, the shock hit.
"What the fuck?"
"Pfu."
A chuckle escaped Alvis' mouth as he heard a first-year saying those words. Seeing their reaction was cinema-worthy. However, the principal had only just started and would keep going now.
"The new school year starts, and I'm sure you all are hyped! Or not? Well, you don't have a choice, anyway! Hahahahaha! Oh man, this was a good joke! Got to write it down."
The principal took out a notebook and probably wrote down the joke. It was with seeing this that an uproar was created.
"Are you kidding us? I thought this was one of the best high schools in the world? How can the principal be such a clown?"
"Yeah, this isn't what I signed up for!"
"They got to be joking!"
The uproar got louder and, in a matter of seconds, the entire hall resounded. It was obvious that only the first years were the ones who spoke up. The older ones didn't dare. They knew what kind of school this was and how the principal really was.
"Silence!"
An icy wind changed the atmosphere in the hall. Not a single sound could be heard by the students, while the mana weighed down on them. It was as if their hearts were placed in his claws, their lives solely depending on his mood. Some didn't even dare to breathe, not wanting the wrath of the principal to target them.
You get what you ask for.
Alvis mentally sighed.
I like his goofy version more.
"I am the principal, so I set the tone. If you have a problem with that, then leave the school. If you want to leave this prestigious school, then you are free to do that."
No one dared to speak up now. They realized their foolishness and how arrogant they had been.
"The World Race Organization created this school to establish a ground where young people, no matter which race, could meet and learn. And the World Race Organization was the one who chose me as the principal of this esteemed school. Me, a beast man."
The principal just mentioned the main reason Alvis chose this school to enroll in. Alvis was a human with mana and white hair. Just like the Devil who had terrorized the world centuries ago. That was why Alvis got bullied and labeled as the child of the Devil. It became so bad that he couldn't go to school anymore.
However, after years of isolation, Alvis mustered up the courage to go back to school. He chose this school to enroll in, hoping it would keep its promise. Alvis hoped this school wouldn't discriminate against him. Also, it was the same time the Union started taking in demons, so with them also enrolling, Alvis wouldn't stand out as much.
His plan even worked out in the end, and much of this was because of Principal Woltzer and his philosophy. There was a good reason the World Race Organization chose him as the principal, despite his unusual character.
"Let me introduce myself again. I am the 21st principal, the beast man, Greg Woltzer. And let me get something clear. I don't care how many rules you break, but there is only one thing I will not tolerate. Discrimination! So be aware and never forget the codex of the Union. There is no superior race, and every race is equal. The day you forget that will also be your last day in this school."
This was the principal of the world's most renowned school. This was Greg Woltzer.
His speech went on a bit more, though his goofy side came out again, so there wasn't something noteworthy.
"Now, my speech is sadly coming to an end. Yes, I know it's sad, but don't cry. Before I go, this year's student council has a few words for you."
Alvis already knew this part, so he laid back in his chair. The student council wasn't something he was interested in, though he knew he was probably the only one who thought so. After all, she was in the student council.
One by one, they entered the stage, and the audience erupted in cheers. All one could hear were the cheering cries of the students as if they were fans of celebrities. This time, Alvis just had to hold his ears.
Of course, this would happen if she stepped on the stage.
Her popularity knew no end. Even Alvis got along with her, and that spoke volumes about her personality.
The student everyone cheered and simped for was no other than the student council president, Lia. Probably the most popular girl in the school.
No matter where she was, she stood out. Her long blond hair paired with her beautiful, almost transparent white skin made every girl wish they had even an ounce of her beauty. Her athletic, well-built body, together with her angelic smile, made the boys go nuts about her.
However, those weren't the things Alvis deemed special about her. It was her eyes that no one could resist. Every time Alvis saw her, it felt like her green emerald eyes cast a spell over him, almost making him lose control. Though he wasn't the only one, everyone who saw her said that her eyes seemed to hypnotize.
And if that wasn't enough, she also was a genius. Being half-elf and half-vampire, she had a near-limitless amount of mana. However, with her intellect, she could cast spells even graduates couldn't. In Alvis' class, she was one of the best in every aspect.
"The perfect girl."
Looking forward to how many hearts she'll break this year.
