Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Whispers of Fate

Scene 1: The Hidden Mark

The city is alive with the hum of neon lights and the distant murmur of passing cars. Lucien walks aimlessly, his fingers brushing over the strange coin in his pocket. He can feel it pulsating—almost as if it has a heartbeat of its own.

A sudden chill runs down his spine. He stops. The air feels different, heavier.

Lucien (thinking): "Someone is watching me."

He turns swiftly, eyes scanning the crowd. That's when he sees it—a mark carved into the stone wall of a nearby alley. A twisted emblem, ancient yet oddly familiar. As his fingers trace the lines, a sudden rush of pain shoots through his head.

A fragmented memory—

Blood-soaked corridors. A throne room filled with shadows. A name whispered in reverence and fear.

??? (whispering in memory): "The Forsaken Monarch shall return… and the world will tremble."

Lucien stumbles back, his breath ragged. The emblem glows for a moment before fading, as if it never existed.

Scene 2: The Watchers

Lucien feels an overwhelming urge to move. His instincts scream danger.

He weaves through the city streets, his senses heightened. Then, he spots them—figures hidden among the crowd, moving with eerie precision. Their eyes are trained on him.

Lucien (thinking, clenching fists): "They're not ordinary people. Are they the ones who left that mark?"

Suddenly, one of them moves. A dagger glints under the streetlights, flying toward him with lethal speed.

Time slows.

Without thinking, Lucien's body reacts. His foot pivots, his hand shoots forward, and he catches the blade between his fingers—stopping it inches from his chest.

The assassin's eyes widen in shock.

Assassin: "Impossible…"

Lucien's golden eyes glow faintly. He doesn't understand how, but his body remembers. A skill long buried beneath forgotten time.

Lucien (coldly): "You have three seconds to tell me who sent you."

The assassin doesn't answer. Instead, he bites down—poison. His body crumples before Lucien can stop him.

More figures step from the shadows. This was just the beginning.

Scene 3: The Woman's Warning

A voice echoes from the rooftops above.

Mysterious Woman: "Well, that was quite the show. You really don't remember, do you?"

Lucien looks up. She stands against the backdrop of the night sky, the wind playing with her dark cloak.

Lucien: "You again. Who are they? Who are you?"

She chuckles, but there's something in her expression—something almost… sad.

Mysterious Woman: "You'll find out soon enough. Just know this… They won't stop hunting you. And next time? You might not be so lucky."

She vanishes, leaving Lucien with more questions than answers.

The shadows are closing in. And Lucien is running out of time.

🔥🔥🔥 Who is the woman? Why are assassins targeting Lucien? And what is the Forsaken Monarch?
