Chapter 2 - Catching Fish

Hearing Wu Xian's question, Lan Hao Tian lowered his head, looking at the makeshift raft he had built himself. Scratching his head awkwardly, he said:

"This is the only way I know how to make it. Besides, I'm an excellent swimmer. Even without a ship, I won't drown in the ocean."

Wu Xian shook his head and chuckled. This newly found captain of his was really unreliable.

For him, the ocean posed no problem, it was his home turf, but not everyone could navigate it as effortlessly as he could.

One must understand that in this world, the vast ocean covered more than 85% of the surface. For ordinary people, it was an endless realm of dangers.

Even so, he still stepped onto the raft, which swayed with the waves, and said:

"Very well, we need to find a proper ship as soon as possible. We can't be pirates without a ship."

Hearing that, Lan Hao Tian jumped up excitedly, raising both fists to the sky. His face lit up with a wide, toothy grin as he exclaimed:

"Ha ha, agreed! Let's find a ship quickly! We also need a really cool pirate flag!"

At this, Wu Xian finally noticed that the raft had no pirate flag at all. He asked:

"So, what's the name of our pirate crew?"

Lan Hao Tian lifted the pendant around his neck and declared:

"I've thought about this for a long time. Our crew's name is 'Tear'."

"This pendant looks quite valuable. How about selling it to buy a ship?" Wu Xian joked.

Just a glance was enough for him to tell that the captain treasured the pendant deeply. There was probably some story behind it.

Lan Hao Tian instantly puffed up his cheeks in anger, glaring at him as he huffed:

"Hmph! No way! I will never sell it. This is my promise."

Hearing this, Wu Xian could somewhat guess the reason behind his journey to the sea. But he didn't dwell on it. After all, his only goal was to find something interesting to do.

"Just messing with you. So, where are we heading now?" Wu Xian said.

Lan Hao Tian scratched his head, not entirely sure himself. After thinking for a moment, he said:

"I don't know either, but let's just keep moving forward. Every place is unfamiliar to me, and every journey is an adventure."

Hearing that, Wu Xian was at a loss for words. However, this carefree attitude was quite similar to his own, so he didn't dislike it.

"Alright then, let's row faster together."

The two of them began paddling the raft forward. Their speed was astonishing.

Even though they were using only their hands, it felt as if they had installed a motor on the raft. Wherever they passed, water splashed wildly in all directions.

...

After rowing for a long time, night eventually fell, and the two of them started feeling hungry. Of course, Wu Xian wasn't truly hungry, he had merely added the sensation of hunger to his body for the experience.

At this moment, Lan Hao Tian lay sprawled out on the raft, looking utterly lifeless. His voice was weak as he murmured:

"Wu Xian… I'm starving…"

Hearing his captain groaning in hunger, Wu Xian's face darkened. He smacked his palm against his forehead and said:

"You're hungry, yet you don't think of catching fish? Is the ocean lacking fish?"

Upon hearing that, Lan Hao Tian suddenly shot up, flashing a wide grin. He clapped his hands together as if he had just realized something and said:

"Ha ha, my bad! It's been so long since I last ate fish that I forgot. I usually only hunt wild beasts for food."

As soon as he finished speaking, he immediately dove into the water, leaving Wu Xian staring in astonishment.

Watching his captain's actions, Wu Xian thought to himself:

"This… is way too wild. He looks no different from a beast on the hunt."

...

After searching the ocean floor for a while, Lan Hao Tian finally found his target - a massive tuna, over five meters long and incredibly plump.

Seeing the hefty prey casually swimming before him, his eyes gleamed like stars.

"Don't run, don't run… Just obediently become my dinner. I promise to make it quick."

If the tuna had a high enough level of intelligence and could hear his thoughts, it would probably be cursing him right now.

As a water manipulator, Lan Hao Tian could use the power of water to propel himself faster while swimming.

Sensing danger, the tuna immediately panicked. It felt as if a terrifying predator was closing in on it, so it used all its strength to flee from the impending threat.

"Huh? Stay right there! Don't run!" Lan Hao Tian shouted in his mind.

His speed surged dramatically, launching forward like a torpedo through the water.

With a swift motion, he grabbed the tuna's vigorously flapping tail and yanked it back forcefully.

At that moment, the tuna wanted to cry. It could feel its life flashing before its eyes, realizing that this was probably the end.

Lan Hao Tian swiftly made his move, delivering a powerful punch straight to the tuna's head. The impact was so strong that the fish immediately stopped struggling.

With his oxygen running low, he quickly swam back up. Looking around, he suddenly realized something was off. The raft was nowhere to be seen. He muttered to himself:

"What now? I swam too far and lost track of the raft… Ah! Right, I just need to swim back the way I came."

Following his memory, he retraced his path through the water. Before long, he spotted the raft in the distance and shouted:

"Hey, Wu Xian! I found food!"

He waved enthusiastically while holding up the massive tuna he had just caught.

Seeing this, Wu Xian could only shake his head and chuckle. He found his captain to be quite amusing. But as he saw Lan Hao Tian preparing to jump onto the raft, he immediately stopped him.

"Hold it! If you bring that fish up here, the raft will sink instantly."

"Ah…"

Lan Hao Tian froze for a moment. He glanced at the massive fish in his hands and sighed, shaking his head. Then, he asked:

"Then how am I supposed to eat it?"

Wu Xian smacked his forehead and thought:

"You swim better than a fish, and you're asking how to eat in the water?"

"Obviously, eat it in the water."

As he spoke, he jumped into the sea. Unlike Lan Hao Tian, however, he sat calmly on the surface of the water as if it were solid ground.

Seeing this, Lan Hao Tian's eyes lit up with excitement. He exclaimed:

"That's amazing! One day, I'll be able to do that too!"

Wu Xian raised an eyebrow, feeling slightly intrigued. From what he knew, only those who reached the level of a Water Spirit Master could move freely on the water like he did. He asked:

"You know how to become a Water Spirit Master?"

Lan Hao Tian nodded without hesitation and replied:

"Of course! He taught me how to control water before. As long as I keep training, I'll reach that level sooner or later."

With that, he began devouring the raw fish meat like he was enjoying fresh sashimi.
