Chapter 5 - the truth about the college

The year of the massacre was approaching, and Zack was ignorant of the story. It was time to tell Zack the truth about this university. Jeff says with a serious voice, "It all started like this, and pls don't talk until I finish, and believe me. Zack nodded agreeingly. Jeff continued," There was a ruthless monster eating humans, to be exact; he ate teenagers. If this monster's rampage continues, the humans will no longer exist since the next generation will be wiped out. For humans to prevent their extinction, they made a pact with this beast that they would build this university for kids to learn and get the monster some delicious fresh brains with flavor to prevent some children from suffering the same fate since they had no hope of defeating this monster. This year is the year of the massacre. I want you to be saved, so please believe me and listen to what I am going to tell you".

Zack asked while giggling," who told you this? Did you meet the monster in the bedroom closet from the abandoned warehouse in our parent's house?".

Jeff spoke angrily," This is no time for games. Your life is at risk. Didn't we promise to help each other when things get tough? Why are you acting like a child again?".

Zack was stunned because Jeff had never gotten this angry before, especially at him. Zack replied understandingly," Okay, brother, I trust this truth and will follow your lead." Jeff was calm again, but he regretted his earlier outburst. He knew that the only way to force his brother to listen was to give a reaction that suited the severity of the situation.

Zack has his doubts, thinking that Jeff might have developed a mental illness due to the stressful years of working as an assistant in the college. Zack couldn't believe Jeff because what he said sounded like crazy talk. Because monsters only exist in horror movies, which they used to watch a long time ago when they were kids.

Jeff was convinced that Zack didn't believe him because of the look Zack gave him, so Jeff gave Zack proof. Jeff showed Zack statistics about the number of enrolled students and the number who graduated is only a quarter of the percentage. There was silence in the room, but the truth sank into Zack's head. Zack completely believed his brother and took everything Jeff said seriously. Since the statistics were accurate, he still had his doubts. Even if Zack was trusting, he wasn't stupid and thought it could be a lie. Zack understood and listened to the plan, but he was sad.

Zack knew that his brother might be truthful, so Zack wanted the students to revolt and escape from this fate, but it wasn't possible because of the grownups. Zack believed that humans could kill that beast instead of sacrificing souls, but it couldn't be helped, so they had to live another day to fight this beast and convince people to act instead of cowering behind teenagers. Zack agreed to Jeff's selfish request to save only him because Jeff promised Zack that they would return to help the other students whom Zack cared for and loved like his family. Although Jeff appeared sincere, he was lying. Jeff believed that saving Zack was the only real goal since the only person in this world dear to him was Zack. Jeff dedicated his life to the only purpose of saving his brother since he couldn't trust anyone anymore, especially his parents who lied to them their whole life. Zack and Jeff agreed that they wouldn't talk about their parents for the time being until they escaped.

One doctor and one class assistant were looking after a class, then they pretended that they were going on a field trip. After that, they divide the classes into groups, and one at a time must enter the building to be eaten. The screams of those who were being eaten were loud, but no one could hear them since they had constructed a wall that blocks sound. They were being eaten until it was Zack's class turn.

Jeff didn't want his brother to be eaten, so he started their plan. Zack pretended to have a stomachache and says with a smug smile, "I can't continue this trip since I am ill, so get going without me and enjoy. I will head to the dorm and wait for another field trip opportunity". Jeff researched the student's records and discovered that one of them was sick at the time of the massacre, so the evil beast couldn't eat the boy or meet him face to face. Jeff's plan was the same concept.

Zack's friends were worried about Zack. Other students felt a suffocating feeling that there was a menacing force somewhere in the area, and that was the last push so the uneasiness erupted. Students kept conversing about not wanting to go without their friend Zack as an excuse to just leave. If someone didn't interfere soon, the students might all start to question this so-called field trip, so Jeff and Zack smiled since their plan was proving successful. Jeff planned that after the commotion was settled, he would personally escort Zack to the medical room, ensuring that he gets treated and continue the field trip then he would escape with Zack by following the next phase of the plan

if all else failed and they didn't agree for jeff to escort but someone else. The backup plan was for Jeff to cause chaos using his authority as class assistant and reporting fake info on the mic in the middle of the confusion, they rush out of the college to escape since Jeff had an escape passage, he constructed by breaking a small hole in the large walls of the college and covering his tracks so no one would notice the hole. Jeff had everything figured out, but he didn't calculate what was about to occur next.
