Chapter 4: The Game Begins

Coruscant – Padmé's Apartment

The morning light cast a golden hue over the vast cityscape of Coruscant. I sat on the edge of Padmé's bed, shirtless, my mechanical hand tracing lazy circles against her bare back.

She was still asleep, her breath slow and peaceful.

I had everything now. Power, skill, and the love of the woman who should have never been hidden away.

But it wasn't enough.

Not yet.

Padmé stirred, mumbling something before slowly blinking awake. When her gaze met mine, she blushed, a small, sleepy smile forming.

"Morning," she whispered.

I smirked. "Morning, Senator."

She rolled her eyes playfully before leaning up to kiss me, soft and slow.

I pulled away, my smirk turning devious. "We need to talk."

She sighed, already sensing the shift in tone. "I was hoping we could just enjoy the moment a little longer."

I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "We will. But first, we need to set things right."

Her expression grew serious. "What do you mean?"

I met her gaze. "No more hiding."

Padmé tensed. "Anakin—"

"No." I cupped her cheek. "Padmé, I refuse to live in shadows. If the Jedi have a problem with it? Then I'll deal with them."

She exhaled slowly, searching my face. "And what if it ruins your future? The Council—"

"The Council is already against me," I interrupted. "You know it, I know it. But the Republic?" I leaned in. "They worship me."

Her lips parted slightly, realization dawning. "You… you're serious."

I smiled. "Always."

She hesitated. "Anakin, this could change everything."

"Good," I murmured. "Let's change everything."

The Jedi Temple – Council Chambers

Silence.

The entire Council stared at me, the weight of their collective judgment pressing down like a storm.

Mace Windu's expression was unreadable, but his tone was sharp. "You want to publicly acknowledge your relationship with Senator Amidala?"

I nodded. "Yes."

Obi-Wan exhaled slowly, rubbing his beard. "Anakin… you must understand how dangerous this is."

I turned to him. "Why?"

Yoda's ears twitched. "Attachments, forbidden they are."

I narrowed my eyes. "Yet Obi-Wan had Satine."

Obi-Wan stiffened. The Council exchanged looks.

Ki-Adi-Mundi spoke next. "It is not simply attachment, Skywalker. You are the Chosen One. Your actions set precedents—if we allow this, others may follow."

I smirked. "You say that like it's a bad thing."

Mace's eyes hardened. "You walk a dangerous path."

I leaned forward. "No, Master Windu. I walk the only path that makes sense. The Jedi have lost their way—we are generals now, not peacekeepers. We preach against attachments while sending thousands of men to die under our command. The hypocrisy ends today."

The weight of my words settled in the room.

Yoda sighed. "Arrogant, you have become."

I shook my head. "No. Just aware."

A long pause.

Finally, Mace spoke again. "And what if we do not accept this?"

I smiled. "Then I continue to serve the Republic as I always have. But know this—if the Jedi stand against me, they stand against the people."

Windu's jaw clenched. He knew I was right. The people loved me.

Obi-Wan, ever the diplomat, exhaled. "This is not a battle worth fighting, Masters."

More silence.

Finally—

Yoda closed his eyes. "A dangerous precedent, this is. But… accept, we must."

Victory.

I inclined my head. "Wise choice."

And with that, the Jedi Order had just taken its first step toward revolution.

The Senate – Emergency Session

The Senate chamber was a storm of voices.

News had already spread.

Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, the Hero of the Republic, had publicly confirmed his relationship with Senator Padmé Amidala.

Gasps. Cheers. Outrage.

Palpatine sat in his pod, watching with his usual mask of amusement. He wasn't concerned—he was adapting.

Bail Organa spoke first. "This is highly irregular—what does this mean for the war effort? Will General Skywalker remain in command?"

Palpatine's voice cut through the noise, smooth as silk.

"Of course he will."

The chamber fell silent.

The Supreme Chancellor smiled. "General Skywalker's contributions to the war are beyond measure. And his relationship with Senator Amidala? It is no crime. If anything…" His voice lowered, dripping with subtle persuasion. "It humanizes the Jedi."

Murmurs of agreement.

Padmé straightened in her seat. "I will not be forced to choose between my duty and my love. The people of the Republic deserve honesty, not deception."

More murmurs.

Palpatine spread his hands. "And truly, what better symbol of our unity than a Jedi Knight and a Senator standing together? Love is not a weakness, my friends. It is strength."

Cheers erupted.

And just like that—

I had won.

Later That Night – Chancellor's Office

Palpatine steepled his fingers as he gazed at me.

"You have… exceeded my expectations, my boy."

I smirked. "That's what I do."

The Sith Lord studied me, searching for weakness. "You've effectively forced the Council's hand. Clever."

I leaned forward. "And you're not worried?"

A soft chuckle. "Worried? No. If anything, this only makes you more valuable to me."

I tilted my head. "Does it?"

Palpatine's smile didn't falter. "The people love you. The Jedi cannot control you. And now?" His voice lowered. "You are shaping the Republic itself."

I leaned back. "That was always the goal."

A flicker of amusement crossed his face. "Indeed. But tell me, Anakin…" His eyes gleamed. "What comes next?"

I met his gaze.

And I smirked.
