Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Beginning of the Story – Tenten, Ino, Sakura

The card pool contained almost everything that existed in the entire ninja world.

From various basic abilities to all kinds of heaven-defying bloodlines.

In the UR tier, there were Sharingan, Byakugan, Uzumaki bloodline, Dust Release, and other overpowered Kekkei Genkai.

The SSR tier had slightly weaker bloodlines, mostly elemental ones like Scorch Release, Boil Release, Lava Release, and Magnet Release. Then there were various secret techniques, such as Earth Grudge Fear, Paper Release, and Water Iron Cannon Technique.

Notably, there was even Wood Release, probably the Yamato version.

The SR tier was even weaker, consisting mostly of mastery in throwing techniques, swordsmanship, fist techniques, and the Three Basic Jutsu.

However, Aoba couldn't help but wonder, 'If I mastered Substitution Jutsu to the highest level, won't that be a low-tier version of Amenotejikara?'

His thoughts didn't run wild for long because he had already spotted a ten-pull free draw ticket on the gacha interface.

Without wasting a second feeling lucky about the system's generosity, he immediately used the free ten-pull.

Aoba drew his cards.

As the flashy special effects passed, a purple glow appeared.

[Kunai] ×4

[Shuriken] ×5

In an instant, Aoba felt enlightened as countless knowledge streams flooded his brain.

———

Aoba was running joyfully through the streets of Konoha.

His face was filled with unconcealable happiness.

His destination was a training ground in Konoha with a target range.

Uzuki Yugao had brought him there before, so he still remembered the way.

By the time he arrived at the training ground, a bun-haired girl was already there training.

However… her shuriken-throwing accuracy was a bit questionable. She had thrown quite a few, yet only a few actually hit the target.

Most of them had landed in the surrounding grass.

A true master of outlining human shapes…

Just looking at the ground full of shuriken and the various scrolls by her side, Aoba couldn't help but swallow twice.

He remembered that sealing scrolls were quite expensive. Even Hayame didn't have many of them.

Yet this girl had a whole bunch. Clearly, she came from a wealthy family.

Out of politeness, Aoba didn't greet her and instead walked around her toward a farther target, to avoid disturbing her.

However, his sudden appearance still caught the girl's attention. She instinctively glanced in his direction.

Aoba ignored her and instead stopped at a certain distance from his target. Holding his breath, he focused on the target in front of him.

In an instant, wind speed, distance, position… all these variables were calculated in his brain.

The next moment, Aoba took out a few shuriken from his earlier draw.

Aim.

Throw.

Bullseye.

The entire motion was smooth and natural, like flowing water.

The bun-haired girl watching him was utterly amazed.

"So incredible…", She couldn't help but murmur in admiration. But when she looked down at the large number of shuriken she had missed, a wave of frustration hit her.

Yet Aoba was still not done. This time, he took out only one shuriken.

He flicked it out.

The shuriken flew past the target in front of him, directly hitting the target behind it.

The girl couldn't stay still anymore. She walked right up to Aoba, her crystal-clear eyes staring at him, "How did you do that?"

"Huh?", Aoba hadn't expected her to approach him so suddenly. He was momentarily caught off guard.

"That curving shuriken throw just now. How did you make it curve without using any jutsu?"

"Oh, that?", Aoba suddenly understood.

"It's all about flicking your wrist at high speed the moment the shuriken leaves your hand. This gives the shuriken a horizontal acceleration, which causes it to curve…", As he explained, Aoba demonstrated once more.

The girl looked completely confused, but her eyes sparkled with admiration.

"I'm Tenten. Can you teach me how to throw shuriken?"

Tenten was very straightforward, saying exactly what was on her mind.

"I can pay you for lessons!"

Swish! Swish! Swish!

At the training ground, Tenten rapidly fired multiple shuriken.

All of them hit the target accurately, though none of them landed in the bullseye.

Seeing this, Tenten sighed in disappointment.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

"Alright, don't be discouraged. You've improved a lot already," Aoba clapped his hands at the right moment, offering full emotional support.

Tenten's eyes brightened slightly, but she still looked a bit sad. Pouting, she muttered, "But compared to you, I'm still far behind…"

"People are different, Tenten. You shouldn't compare yourself to me. You should compare yourself to who you were yesterday. That's how you see your progress," Aoba patiently advised.

After all, he had cheat abilities. It wasn't fair to compare them.

Ever since he drew the mastery card, his throwing skills had already reached the peak of the entire ninja world.

In the field of projectile techniques, he was willing to call himself the strongest.

Even from 800 miles away, if his arm strength was enough, he could still take someone out.

"Really? Then, since I've improved so much, do I get a reward?", Tenten suddenly leaned in close, her face full of anticipation.

"Uh… what kind of reward do you want?", Seeing her expectant expression, Aoba couldn't refuse. But he wasn't prepared for this at all.

Looks like he'd have to start carrying candies for training sessions.

"Hmm…", Tenten made a thinking face.

"Is Yugao-sensei on a mission today?"

"Yeah, she probably won't be back until tomorrow."

"Then how about you come to my house for dinner tonight?"

Tenten blinked her large, watery eyes, making it impossible for Aoba to refuse.

"If that's the reward you want, I'm fine with it."

"Great! Then let's practice a little longer!"

Before Aoba could say anything else, Tenten happily pulled out more shuriken and resumed training.

.

.

.

As the sun began to set, Aoba and Tenten walked side by side on their way back.

Just as they passed by a park, they were drawn by a chaotic argument.

Instinctively, both turned their heads.

A group of boys was surrounding two girls.

A pink-haired girl was crouching on the ground, crying, while a blonde girl stood protectively in front of her, arguing with the boys. It looked like a fight was about to break out.

Judging by the hair colors and the word 'wide forehead' being thrown around, these two were probably a young Sakura and Ino.

"Aoba, should we help?", Tenten tugged at Aoba's sleeve, seeking his opinion. If they fought, those kids wouldn't stand a chance.

Aoba hesitated.

If this was just Sakura being bullied, Ino had handled it by herself in the original timeline.

But the scene before him clearly wasn't something Ino could resolve alone.

Just then, the pink-haired girl let out a shriek.

A bigger boy shoved Ino aside and yanked off Sakura's red ribbon, laughing loudly.

Aoba didn't hesitate anymore, he charged forward so fast that even Tenten was caught off guard.

There was no way he could sleep peacefully tonight without teaching these little brats a lesson.

Having already refined chakra, Aoba took down this group of troublemakers with just a few punches and kicks.

Especially the one who had acted first, now he was being stepped on by Aoba, his face bruised and swollen, looking like he wouldn't recover for quite some time.

Aoba snatched the red ribbon from his hands. If he remembered correctly, this should have been given to Sakura by Ino as a symbol of their friendship, holding significant meaning.

After retrieving the ribbon, Aoba loosened his foot.

The moment Aoba lifted his foot, the other party scrambled away as fast as possible, rolling and crawling while crying out, "Dad!" "Mom!" "Help me!" and similar things.

When Aoba looked at Ino and Sakura, they were also looking at him.

Their gazes seemed somewhat blank. Aoba thought they were frightened by his earlier display of violence, making him feel a bit awkward.

He handed the red ribbon back to Sakura and then pulled Tenten away.

In this whole hero-saving-the-beauty incident, neither side had spoken a single word.

Until they had walked some distance away—

"Sakura, that ribbon is dirty now. How about... I get you a new one?"

"No… no need, I think this one is just fine..."
