I quickly hid the letter and pretended to be searching through the trunks, trying to act nonchalant. Masamichi appeared in the attic doorway, his eyes scanning the room.
"Sanzo, what are you doing up here?" he asked, his voice firm but concerned.
I tried to think of a plausible excuse. "I...I was just looking for an old book. I couldn't sleep."
Masamichi's gaze lingered on me for a moment before he nodded. "Let's go back to bed, Sanzo. It's late."
I followed him downstairs, feeling a mix of relief and unease. Had Masamichi suspected something?
