Prologue : The Beginning

The city pulsed with life as dusk settled over the skyline. Towering skyscrapers loomed against the fading sunlight, their windows reflecting the hues of orange and violet that signaled the day's end. The streets were alive with movement—people walking briskly, some chatting on their phones, others lost in thought, all making their way home after a long day's work.

Among them, an 18-year-old boy named Adam pushed his way through the dense crowd, his backpack slung over one shoulder. His tired eyes darted around, absorbing everything. He wasn't just moving; he was analyzing. The way people walked, the expressions they wore, the shifting neon lights of storefronts—all of it was data feeding into his ever-curious mind.

As he descended into the underground metro station, the air changed. The sound of footsteps echoed against the tiled walls, a rhythmic chorus of city life. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through articles on psychology and philosophy, occasionally switching to news about technological advancements. Knowledge fascinated him. It was his fuel. Even now, after an exhausting day at college, he sought to learn.

The metro arrived, its doors hissing open, releasing a wave of passengers before swallowing new ones. Adam stepped in, found a spot near the window, and leaned against the glass. The city blurred past as he donned his headphones, immersing himself in a podcast about the mysteries of consciousness. Yet, even as he listened, his sharp gaze never stopped moving, flicking from one commuter to another, observing habits, picking up details.

When his stop came, he stepped off and started his walk home. The air was crisp, a slight breeze tugging at his jacket. The streets were quieter here, lined with middle-class homes, each with its own small patch of greenery. He reached his house—a modest yet comfortable two-story home—and stepped inside.

"Adam, you're late today," his mother called from the kitchen.

"Had some extra work at college," he replied, dropping his bag near the door.

His younger sister, Mia, peeked out from behind the living room couch. "You always have extra work. You're such a nerd."

Adam smirked. "And you still struggle with math. Who's the real nerd here?"

Dinner was a simple but warm affair. His mother, a schoolteacher, spoke about her students, while Mia chattered about a drama she was watching. Adam listened, occasionally joining in, but his mind was elsewhere, drifting between thoughts about the day and questions that had no easy answers.

Later that night, he retreated to his room, a space that reflected his mind—cluttered yet organized. Bookshelves lined one wall, filled with texts ranging from philosophy to quantum physics. His desk, illuminated by the soft glow of his monitor, was a workspace for both study and exploration. He sat for a while, going through his notes, before exhaustion finally took over. Lying down on his bed, he closed his eyes, surrendering to sleep.

Then, at exactly midnight, the world changed.

A ripple passed through reality itself. An invisible force swept across the planet, touching every living being. It was neither painful nor gentle; it was something beyond human comprehension.

Everyone, at that precise moment, felt something stir deep within them—something ancient, something primal, like the uncoiling of a long-dormant instinct. A whisper of fate, a pull of destiny. It wasn't an external phenomenon but an internal awakening, unlocking something unknown within each person.

Adam gasped, his body jolting awake. Sweat clung to his skin, his breath ragged. His room was exactly as it had been before, yet something was different. He felt it in his bones, in his very soul.

Then he saw it.

A translucent screen hovered before him, intangible yet undeniably real. His heart pounded as he rubbed his eyes, thinking it was a dream or some trick of exhaustion. But the words remained, glowing softly against the darkness of his room:

Congratulations. You have Awakened.

His mind raced. Was this real? Some kind of augmented reality prank? But the moment he thought of dismissing it, he felt an undeniable truth settle in his chest—this was real. He wasn't just seeing the screen; he could feel it, as though it were linked to something deep inside him.

He reached out, hesitating before his fingers passed through it. There was no sensation, but the screen reacted to his thoughts, shifting like an interface responding to an unseen command. More words appeared:

Status: Initializing...

Adam's breath hitched. His analytical mind kicked into overdrive. This was structured like a system, something out of a video game or a novel. But it wasn't fiction. It was happening.

He threw off his blanket and sat up, his entire body buzzing with a strange energy. He glanced around—nothing else in the room had changed. Yet, the weight of something immense pressed down on reality itself, as if the very fabric of existence had been rewritten.

A notification blinked on the screen:

Would you like to access your abilities?

Abilities?

Adam hesitated. His instincts screamed at him to be cautious, but his insatiable curiosity won over. He nodded, and the screen flickered before displaying a new message:

Analyzing Core Potential...

A sharp sensation coursed through him—not pain, but an overwhelming rush of information. His mind flooded with something foreign yet familiar, as if knowledge long buried was surfacing. He gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stay conscious as images, symbols, and strange sensations overwhelmed him.

Then, as suddenly as it came, the sensation ceased. The screen updated:

Core Trait Identified: Seeker of Truth

Special Ability: Insight

Adam exhaled sharply. His body felt lighter, his senses sharper. He looked around his room, but everything seemed more... defined. The grain of the wooden desk, the faint humming of his computer, even the distant sounds of the city—it was all clearer, as if a veil had been lifted.

More text appeared:

Insight (Passive & Active Ability): The ability to perceive hidden truths, analyze structures, and uncover the unknown. Grants increased comprehension, heightened perception, and the potential to evolve.

Adam's hands trembled. His mind was still trying to rationalize it, but the reality was undeniable. Something had changed—not just within him, but in the entire world.

He needed answers.

A glance outside his window showed that the city was not the same. Lights flickered unnaturally, the air itself felt charged with an unfamiliar energy. He wasn't alone in this awakening. Everyone had experienced it.

The world as they knew it was no more.

And this was just the beginning.
