THE ROYAL PACK
ZAREK'S POV
"Zarek what is this nonsense I'm hearing?"
My father, alpha Theron Royalston, the alpha of the prestigious Royal pack asks me in a loud voice while still walking into my room.

"Why have you insisted on going to the human world without your security detail?" Father asks in his very loud voice.
"You more than anyone else in this pack knows how risky it is to have any kind of contact with the humans without any kind of protection, we still have the pressing issue of this pack to sort out. I do not want to constantly worry about you" he says with his finger pointing at me.
Dad is trying his best to change my mind from embarking on my journey to go study in the Nova Terra university alone, when it was totally his idea that I go there in the first place.
"Father, I understand the problem our pack is facing but I want to go see what it's like out there, by. myself." I say laying extra emphasis on the part that is the major point of this argument.
"Besides I will be king one day and I should be able to defend myself wherever I find myself. Eldrida is another challenge I wish to embark on and conquer by myself. Besides father isn't this what you wanted?" I ask my father calmly.
I understand that he is only looking out for me but I am no longer a pup. I need him to know and understand that I can take care of myself.
"I need to be assured that you are safe Zarek."
Father says and abruptly stands up, stretching to his full height, which is incredible for his age.
"There isn't anything else I can do to change your mind?" he asks as he comes close to me to place his hands on my shoulder.
"No father, there isn't." I say while looking up to him with a smile.
Father rarely shows any emotion, the most emotion I have seen him display is to his mate, my mum. This sudden display of emotion from him almost has me considering to oblige him, but I won't. I need to do this.
"What good will it do our pack, Father, if you send out our strongest fighters with me, what will you do if, for instance there's an attack we didn't know about and you need them. It is too risky and I won't let you risk it. Besides I am quite fearsome myself, I guarantee you father that I can absolutely take good care of myself." I say this time appealing to his sense of responsibility.
"Hmmmm" Father sighs and goes to sit down on my master bed.
"You and I know Theron that he has your stubbornness, he has made up his mind and we can only give him our blessing." Ophelia Royalston, says as she walks, more like glides, into my room exuding elegance and charm.
I swear my mum continues to look younger everyday. Dear goddess I really hope my fated mate is a beauty just like my mum, I think to myself.
"But Zarek, we will give you our blessing under one condition." My mum says, raising one slender finger up with a cunning smirk on her face.
I can never outsmart or outdo this woman,
"What condition mother?" I say already feeling the clouds of despair hang over my head.
They just won't let me do this my way.
My mum laughs, a beautiful ringing, clear sound that may even calm mad dogs down, the ruby on her neck glittering just like blood on her neck as she shakes with the laughter racking her body.
Dad looks at her with a love stricken, and captivated look on his face. He is definitely a goner, and who can blame him.
"You will have to take two of the Royal guards with you, Zarek." Mum says raising one bare shoulder exposed in the one hand wrap gown she was putting on.
"But mother, you know that will make me stand out even more, having big scary looking men follow me around. I am already big enough." I say in argument.
"Oh don't argue with me on this Zarek, we both know this is for your own good. You will be leagues away from here, we won't know what becomes of you over there."
She sighs and takes my Father's hands in her hands.
"Allow us to do this, for our own peace of mind. Things are bleak around here with our powers dying out, we can't be handling that whilst still worrying about you. You are my only son and I want to know that I did my best as your mother Zarek."
"Be glad I am not asking a full detail of bodyguards to go with you as your father has been trying for ages to make you do. I figured there should be a middle ground here, you get to choose who you go with as well. You are going with them and that is final."
Mum doesn't wait for a reply from me, she takes dad's hand in hers and takes him out of my room.
"Your mother is even scarier than the Alpha Zar." Lucien says coming out of the closet where he hid himself when my dad came in.
"My dad is scarier, trust me, mum just has her own way of getting what she wants." I say feeling exhausted.
This was supposed to be a new experience for me, away from anything related to pack life. My own adventure, but now I guess I have to make do.
"Lucien, listen to me, you and Phillip will go with me. You both will stay well out of my way, do you understand?" I say turning to Lucien who was checking out one of my clothes in the mirror.
"Whatever you say Zar, besides it will be a fun time for me as well. I definitely won't be wasting it following your royal ass around, studying" Lucien says as if it is the most horrible thing a person can ever do to themselves.
"You better not, I trust Phillip to always do as he is told."
It isn't what I wanted but I'll be damned if I let them ruin it for me.
"Go pack, we are leaving very early in the morning. Tell Phillip on your way as well."
"Of course, your royal princeling alpha." Lucien says while giving me a very ridiculous profound bow.
I let that guy get away with too much honestly, but I can't have it any other way.
We both burst out laughing, while I go back to packing my bags.
We got to the university after a very long drive. From the entrance of the gate the name of the school was written very boldly, hanging over the gate like a huge sentinel.
"These humans know what they are about man." Lucien says looking about and nodding his head.
Phillip doesn't say much but he sure as hell is aware of everything that is going on.
My driver pulled up at the admission building, everyone stopped to stare, some were pointing and murmuring.
"Why is everyone pointing at us, I am pretty sure you are not well known in the human world Zarek." Lucien says looking confused and also loving the attention we are getting.
"I'm pretty sure riding to school in a Rolls Royce Sweptail will cause such a reaction. Why we didn't pick a better car much smaller than this and less expensive too is still beyond me.'' Phillip says with his lips curled in annoyance.
I am surprised Philip said this much, he is not much for words. He must really not like getting attention and I can't say that I blame him, his beauty alone does the seeking for him, and I guess anything extra that will be a source of attraction to him, he avoids it.
"You can go back, Philip, if you don't like the attention." I say while scrolling through my phone. That will also suit me as well.
"He is the Alpha King's heir Phillip, I guess he'll always get attention wherever we go." Lucien says, still looking around like an excited puppy.
"We are here alpha." The driver says.
Lucien and Phillip get down from the car,
Lucien opens the door of the car on my side for me.
Some ladies gasped loudly as we came out trying to find out bearings. Others were murmuring amongst themselves.
Being a werewolf with enhanced senses, I was able to hear the words they were murmuring amongst themselves.
I am sure Lucien and Phillip could too and Phillip didn't like it one bit.
"Oh my gosh, they are so hot."
"Look at that car, they are so rich." one lady says with a muffled giggle to her friends.
"I am definitely sleeping with that one on black." A girl called Samantha said referring to Phillip since he is the only one of us putting on black.
Phillip hasn't spent two seconds here and he already has a contender for bedroom activities. This should be fun.
I smile to myself, breathe in the fresh air and begin to move into the administration building.
Lucien and Phillip come behind me.
I do not like how it makes it look like they are my bodyguards but I guess I have to put up with it if I have to be here.
I plan to thoroughly enjoy my stay here at the Nova Terra University.
