Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

"Wow, so cute!" Menma hugged the little red fox on his shoulder with a wide grin.

"Stinky brat, let me go!" The little red fox struggled violently. Its paws suddenly grew larger, and with one powerful swipe, it sent Menma crashing into the wall nearby.

Bang!

The loud thud made Naruto run out of the room in alarm.

"What's going on, Brother?" Naruto asked, looking at Clone No. 1 and Clone No. 2.

Clone No. 1 raised his head and pointed toward the hole in the wall with his left hand. "Your brother's over there."

But Naruto's attention was immediately drawn to the red fox on the table. He dashed over with his short legs, hugged the little red fox, and exclaimed, "Wow, so cute!"

The red fox trembled with rage. Veins bulged on its forehead as it extended its claws, which grew in size again—slap!—Naruto was launched into the same wall hole as before.

"Ah!" Inside the wall, Menma had just managed to get up—only to be tackled by Naruto crashing in right after him.

It hurt. He wanted to cry, but no tears came.

Naruto, however, wasn't focused on the pain. He had accidentally landed on something warm and soft. His small hands fumbled curiously.

"Hot… soft… What is this? When did we get something like this at home?"

"Naruto! You still haven't gotten up yet?" At that moment, Menma's expression darkened, his fists clenched tightly.

"Ah! It's my brother!" Naruto clapped his hands together and scrambled off of Menma.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Naruto was stunned. "What's wrong, Brother?" he asked anxiously. "What happened? Are you okay?"

What happened? You seriously don't know what you just did?

Just now, when Naruto had pressed down with his hands, one of them had landed on Menma's lower body.

The misery never ends. One wave settles, another rises again.

"Hahahahaha!"

The little red fox in the living room laughed while holding its stomach.

That laughter reached Menma's ears. Groaning in pain, he got up from the ground and marched out. He glared at the little red fox, who was now rolling with laughter on the table.

"Kurama, have you laughed enough?"

The little red fox was Kurama! After breaking the seal, Kurama could now move about freely.

But Kurama's real body was far too large to remain hidden. So Menma had worked out a deal with him, resulting in this tiny red fox form. It was so cute that Menma couldn't resist hugging it—but Kurama hadn't appreciated that and had flung him against the wall. That's what led to all this chaos.

"This is all your fault! If it weren't for you, my brother wouldn't be hurt!" Menma snapped.

Just then, Naruto behind him chimed in, "Brother, I'm not hurt!"

Menma: "..."

That brother's not this brother.

"Naruto, I wasn't talking about you," Menma clarified.

Naruto panicked. "Wait—you have another little brother? No way! You can only have me as your little brother!"

Clinging tightly to Menma's sleeve, his eyes were full of fear. To Naruto, his big brother was the closest, most important person in the world.

Pfft!

Menma instantly spat out a mouthful of invisible blood.

How the hell am I supposed to explain this?

Naruto's eyes welled up with tears as Menma stayed silent.

Seeing this, Menma quickly said, "Idiot, of course I don't have any other younger brothers. I only have one little brother—Naruto. Got it?"

Hearing that, Naruto's smile returned.

His brother had only one little brother, and that was him.

Menma thought the crisis was over—until Naruto's next question made him want to cry again.

"Then, who were you talking about earlier?"

Naruto wasn't so easy to fool.

Ugh, it never ends...

"Hahahahaha!"

Kurama pounded the table with laughter. The two brothers were just too funny.

Menma glared at Kurama and muttered in his heart, Laugh all you want. You think this is funny?

Hmph! Just you wait.

Of course, Menma didn't dare say that out loud. He still couldn't beat Kurama, not yet. But one day—he and Naruto would team up, take him down, and make him call them big brother!

Menma smirked at the thought.

Uh-oh.

Kurama caught a hint of malicious intent from Menma. He raised a paw—slap!—Menma was sent flying into the wall again.

Hiss! That hurt!

Damn you, Kurama!

Menma climbed back up, stomped into the living room, and glared at Kurama.

"What the hell, man?! Just because I can't beat you doesn't mean you can bully me! Don't forget, I'm the one who let you out, you ungrateful furball!"

Kurama retorted calmly, "Oh, I know exactly what you were thinking. I, Kurama, have principles. And yes, I remember you let me out. But let's be honest—we're just using each other."

Menma took a deep breath. Stay calm, Menma. Don't fight the Nine Tails head-on.

"Right, right, you're absolutely right, Kurama!" Menma changed the subject. "Anyway, my two clones are working on your novel."

Kurama perked up. "Oh, I see!" He glanced at Clone No. 1 and Clone No. 2. "How much longer until it's done? I'm getting hungry. What's the next story? I'm looking forward to it!"

"If they keep writing without stopping, maybe by tomorrow morning."

The moment Menma said this, Clone No. 1 and Clone No. 2 raised their heads and gave him the most exasperated look imaginable.

Menma got the message loud and clear.

He dismissed the two clones, absorbing their memories instantly.

Then he formed another hand seal.

"Shadow Clone Technique!"

A puff of white mist, and four new Menmas appeared behind him—Clones No. 1 through No. 4.

"Clones 1 and 2, work on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Clones 3 and 4, start on Investiture of the Gods."

The four clones grumbled for a bit but got to work obediently.

Sigh...

Menma sighed. The regular shadow clone technique just wasn't enough anymore. He needed to trick the Third Hokage into teaching him the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique!

The principle was the same—it just used way more chakra to create dozens or even hundreds of clones at once. It had been classified as a forbidden jutsu by its creator, the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, because ordinary shinobi couldn't handle the chakra strain.

But for Menma and Naruto, it was perfect.

Just imagining a thousand clones getting his work done made Menma feel amazing.

Seeing Menma being so diligent, Kurama nodded in satisfaction and lounged back in his chair, legs crossed.

Naruto quietly sat beside Kurama, watching him intently but not daring to reach out.

With everything settled, Menma sat down beside Naruto and began explaining the truth about his "other brother."
