Chapter 15 - Justice League I

Hal takes a moment to let his new reality settle. He can feel everything inside him, including each molecule, atom, and even far subatomic structures. Everything that makes him who he is has evolved and advanced. He also feels Adana still as well. The Entity separates, and they observe one another. Countless things are said and conversed between the two without uttering a single word. They understand each other and know one another better after Adana supports Hal and elevates this process to something bigger than before.

Theoretically, Hal was the same as a host of Adana, and that potential still remained, but the Entity realised that Hal would do what was good for the emotion of hope without its interference, and if it wanted, it could find and fuse with him at a moment's notice.

"Farewell, Adana. My gratitude for helping me in my endeavour."

Hal had created a ring for himself, not because he needed one but because it should keep others from knowing what happened to him. His capability of using the Emotional Spectrum of Will was unparalleled and might be on the same level as Ion, if not higher. There is no such thing as limitless will, not even for Ion, and Hal, through his Meta Essence, surpasses anything of the same concept.

*Purru purru purru*

His ring notifies Hal that someone is trying to reach him. And right now, there might be only one person who would want to do that. He allows the call to connect.

"Yes?"

{Is this Green Lantern?}

"Indeed. How are you doing, Batman?"

{There's a situation. I believe it is extraterrestrial in nature. How fast can you get here?}

"Give me a second."

Hal directs his willpower. He can feel no resistance when he is doing it. Perfect freedom in the usage of his entire willpower and the best thing, his body can now handle it and will even grow stronger the more he wills it. Hal thinks of Earth, Batman's position and then... he shoots forward.

Hal's body zooms through space-time as he wills himself to fly faster than he ever did. He surpasses the speed of light multiple times and continues to accelerate. He willed himself to phase through everything, except the spacial barrier, to not land in another dimension. His speed increases more and more, and before he knows it, he has already appeared in the sky of Gotham.

Hal connects to the police radio. There is a lot of fire and destruction going on. Hal feels some kind of foreign being close by.

[We have Batman in our sights. He's running after someone.]

[Man? Woman? What?]

[I can't tell. Face is covered.]

[Is it one of them?]

[The way they're leaping twenty feet at a time? I'd say yes.]

[Then bring them both.]

*BRATATATATATATAT*

The police have three choppers in the air, firing at Batman, who is chasing another figure. He rolls off the building and fires smoke bombs into the sky to shield himself from their view. The being he is chasing looks back and tries to flee, but Batman has other ideas. he fires his grappling gun at the creature and hits its thigh.

"RRRRKKK"

Batman pulls himself forward and crashes into the creature.

"What were you doing at the docks? Talk before I-"

*BWOOOOSHHHHH*

A powerful energy blast emerges from the being's face. The hood disappears, and some strange creature with extraterrestrial armour is revealed. Just as it is about to punch Batman, a large cyan hand punches the creature away.

*BAAMMM*

"Batman? Are you alright?"

Batman looks at the man in the air who slowly descends to the roof. He hasn't seen Hal in a while, but to see him now, he can tell that a lot has changed. Batman's mind is trying to come up with reasons and their effects, but as he tries to do that, he is suddenly filled with a warm feeling. He hasn't felt that way... in a very, very long time. Unwillingly, images of his mother flash in his mind. He sees her gentle, loving smile and his father's strong hand as he comforts him.

*Gasp*

Batman gasps. He had been training his mind for years against outside influence, but this... this was cause for alarm. He felt his heartbeat slow down, and his nerves calmed as well. It was like coming home to his parents waiting for him. He shakes his head and increases his pulse again, trying to stay in the moment.

"Are you alright, Batman?" Hal asks and gently touches his shoulder.

"What was that? What did you do?" Batman asks and pushes his arm away.

"What are you talking about? I thought you knew what my power was. I created a hand to punch the creature away. Are you alright? You don't seem hurt."

"Forget it. Wait the-"

{Put your hands in the air!}

*BRATATATATATAT*

The police start shooting at them. Two large armoured Astartes appear, holding shields in front of them, protecting Batman from their fire.

[Picture]

"Put my hands in the air? So, they can just shoot us? I must say, you have it hard in Gotham."

"Welcome back, Green Lantern. Or Cyan Lantern, now?"

"Heh, it's a long story. I'll tell you later. So, the police are wasting their bullets. Will they just keep firing or see reason at some point?"

"You know the drill."

"I know. It's just sad that they don't like us. Do you think the colour scheme is confusing them? Or did they already forget about me?"

"The world's afraid of us."

"You say that like it's a good thing."

"It's necessary."

"RRWWEEE!!"

The creature screams again and attacks the two. Hal creates more Astartes to block them from the attack. Wings appear behind the creature, and it shoots fire from its mouth towards the choppers.

*BOOOOOM*

"Lantern!"

"On it."

Hal creates several large parachutes that slow down the chopper's descent and make them land softly. Hundreds more Astartes appeared on the streets, protecting the civilians from falling debris and the creature that had transformed and was rushing through the streets and down into the sewers.

"Batman is already on the move, following it."

Hal doesn't follow right away and creates hundreds of policemen and firemen, along with firetrucks, to put out all the fires and care for the people. But Hal goes even further, creating ambulances that will treat the people right away. As he does that, the spirits of the people in Gotham are lifted. Hope fills their hearts as they see the cyan constructs protect and help them. After everything is taken care of, Hal follows Batman.

He finds him watching the creature fusing something to the wall and suddenly realises what he is looking at. Batman motions Hal to be quiet.

*Ping*

The creature suddenly turns towards them and screeches.

"FOR DARKSEID"

*BABWOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM*

A Swiss safe appears as the smoke lifts, and from it, Hal and Batman emerge.

"We have a problem."

"What is it?"

"Darkseid."

"Do you know who that is?"

"I do indeed. Darkseid is the tyrannical ruler of Apokolips, a sadistic, aggressive and merciless tyrant who has invaded and conquered countless worlds throughout the universe. He seeks tyranny and destruction. This creature was a Parademon, here to do his bidding and prepare for the eventual arrival of his master."

"Hmm, do you know what this is then? Some kind of portal device?"

"Indeed. This is a Father Box. It is the Apokoliptian version of the Mother Box. Theoretically, it has a myriad of abilities and uses, but this one most likely will do one thing: open a Boom-Tube."

"A Boom-Tube? I assume that's a form of portal or teleportation device to have this Darkseid come here? But then why place different ones around the city?"

"Because he will spawn his army from each one. A Boom Tube is capable of transporting things between galaxies, dimensions and alternate realities. He will have his army invade from each one and cause untold destruction around."

"Hmm, then we may find more answers in Metropolis."

"Why would you need more answers? That's all there is to it. What we need is to prepare."

"I am always prepared, and you carry all you need on your finger. Going to Metropolis will allow us to confront Superman. He may be willing to help."

"I see, the Kryptonian. A good idea. He will indeed be helpful."

"Kryptonian? Is that the name of his race?"

"Indeed. Maybe I shouldn't have said that. He is strong, though."

"He is dangerous."

"Already created a profile on him?"

"..."

Batman looks at Hal and frowns.

"I've researched him. His power levels..."

"True, he is very powerful. Oh well. Let's go to Metropolis, then."

Hal touches Batman's shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

"I assume you wish not to make a scene, so we'll go there without a construct. Don't worry, it'll only take a second."

Around the two, runes start to appear. They start to float in a line around both of them, and the inside fills with cyan energy coming from Hal. He focuses for a second and then they disappear.

[Picture]

*POOFF*

They appear at a demolition zone of Lexcorp in Metropolis. Batman uses all of his willpower to not vomit and keep it together. He looks around and realises that they teleported all the way from Gotham to Metropolis in a matter of one second.

"Teleportation."

"That's a bit crude, but yes. As subtly as I could make it. I hope you don't mind. It was the first time for me."

"The first time? And you just take me along?"

"Oh, don't misunderstand, it was perfectly safe. I had never done it before, which is why I forgot to ensure you wouldn't feel sick when we arrived."

"Superman's in there. It looks as if he was in some kind of fight. We should be cautio-"

*BOOOOM*

Something crashes into Hal and shoots him back, crashing into some cars. At the hole of the building, Superman appears. His eyes are glowing and he has a confident smile on his face, with a red cape fluttering behind him.

"So... what can you do?"

Batman jumps back and throws smoke grenades down, trying to hide.

"I can still see you," Superman says.

Batman throws a sonic disrupter at Superman. But the powerful man just walks forward and crushes the device. Not even as Batman uses powerful electroshocks does it faze Superman. Superman shoots forward and pushes Batman against a wall.

"I was attacked earlier by someone with one of these boxes. A friend of yours, I assume? He blew up and nearly took his building down with him. Who are you, and what are these for?"

Superman holds Batman's throat.

"Talk, Batman, or I won't let you."

"I'm... trying... to..."

"Enough of this." Hal says, and he creates chains to hit Superman and get him away from Batman.

The chains elongate and start to bind Superman. Hal lands next to Batman.

"Chains? You're funny, Green Lantern."

Superman's eyes glow red, and he tries to use his strength to break out of the chains. However ... he doesn't manage to do it.

"What?!"

But not just Superman is surprised; Batman is as well. He has long realised that Hal's power comes from his concentration, from his will. So, if he can bind Superman and stop him from escaping, his mind must be incredibly powerful.

"Would you please calm down? We aren't here to harm you and aren't involved with those who did this. We just want to talk."

Superman is confused for a second; he tries to use all of his strength again but doesn't manage to break the chains. What he doesn't realise is that he might have managed to do it, but Hal has increased the amount of willpower he used to keep him bound by the chains. Superman was ridiculously strong. Superman's eyes glow red, and suddenly, he fires two hot heat beams at Hal. But instead of being harmed by them, Hal absorbs the heat and has the energy be added to his own.

Then, his figure suddenly shines brightly in blue light. It shines so powerfully that Superman feels his anger diminish. His eyes stop shining, and he stops fighting. Then, Hal removes the chains.

"Now, how about we try this again?"
