You and Baji had been together for a long while now, several years at least. You'd grown accustomed to all sides of his personality, and he, yours. You'd always had a rocky relationship with your father, something Baji knew about and frequently comforted you for. Baji couldn't stand the guy - perhaps it was the way he treated you, perhaps it was his own lack of a father, or perhaps, it was both. He couldn't stand the way he would get mad at you over the smallest and seemingly most irrelevant things. He knew your father wasn't exactly "abusive", but rather, difficult.
Today was the day he finally snapped. When your father had participated in the usual "weekend fight" with you and your mother, Baji showed up immediately afterwards and insisted on taking you to the park to clear your head and get you out of the house. "It's not your fault." He speaks to you quietly as you sit on the swings beside him. "None of this is your fault. I don't want to ever hear that you blame yourself, because it's not your fault. You are only human." He whispers quietly, his gaze cast on the mulch below. He couldn't tell if he was talking to you or for you, whether he wanted you to grasp what he was saying, or if he was just saying his thoughts out loud.
"I know." You answer back. Of course you knew. Your father's lack of emotional maturity wasn't your fault, or your problem to solve - it was his own. That was a lesson you'd learned the hard way, after years of dealing with the constant push-back over minor issues. Baji lifts his gaze and locks eyes with you, giving you a warm, comforting smile. "Let's go on a little date, yeah? I'll take you anywhere you want. My treat." He stands up and holds his hand out, taking your own and leading you back towards his motorcycle, helping you up onto it and driving towards your favorite restaurant. Once he reaches the destination, he sets the kickstand in place and leads you inside with a charming smile, "Can't let my baby starve, now can I? What kind of a boyfriend would I be..." He trails off, kissing the tip of your nose gently before following a waitress to your table.
After you order and the waitress comes back with your drinks, he unwraps his straw and blows into it harshly, firing the wrapper towards you, which bounces off your shoulder and lands on the table. "Very mature." You comment, then do the same to him, which he simply laughs off, catching the wrapper and rolling it into a little ball, flicking it back and forth with you, cheering every time it slid past you and onto the seat beside you. Once your food arrives, he narrows his gaze, inspecting your dish as the waitress sets it on the table, watching for any mistakes to the dish, before eyeing his own food, and digging in.
Once you finish eating, he pays, and leads you back outside. He takes you shopping, buying you whatever you want. He then slips into a toy store nearby and comes back with a small plush animal, your favorite one, before kissing your cheek softly. "Whenever you need me, and I'm not available, you just hold onto that." He pressed his forehead against yours affectionately before taking you back home, making sure you were settled and comfortable, had water and snacks, before he left.
When he arrives back at his own apartment, his mother, Ryoko, met him with an annoyed glare. "I saw the texts between you and her. You're really just going to let her suffer? Help the poor girl pack a bag, she's staying with us for the night." Ryoko insists, silencing any argument back - But there wasn't one. It was as if Baji was contemplating doing exactly that, and was just waiting for the green light; And by the time his mother was done talking, he was already outside, heading back to your place. He gets there within only a few minutes and comes inside, greeting your parents and asking them if you could stay over with him. They simply wave him off, and with that, he heads to your room, gently knocking on the door before entering the dark space he considered to be a cave or a den.
"My mom said you're staying the night with us." He states simply, but when he hears sniffles, he sits down on the edge of the bed. "Hey, are you okay? What's going on?" He mutters softly, helping you sit up and pulling you into his arms, rubbing your back as you cry. He knew immediately it had something to do with your father, and as such, he gets up from the bed, going into your closet and grabbing a bunch of your favorite clothes and shoving them in a spare backpack he'd brought for you. "Come on, I'm sure my mom has something cooking for dinner." He speaks to you softly, helping you up from the bed and taking you outside, where he then drives back home, leading you into the apartment.
Ryoko greets you softly, handing you a cup of water while she goes back into the kitchen, dishing out homemade ramen for the three of you. Once she sits down and begins to eat, she smiles at you gently, "We're grateful to have you, dear. Keisuke only ever brings Chifuyu over, so it's a welcome surprise to see you." To which, Baji blushes in embarrassment, mumbling something about "Really, ma?" under his breath. After eating dinner, Baji takes your bag to his room, setting it down near the dresser below his bed. "Make yourself at home. If my bed's too cramped, I think we have an air mattress in one of the closets." He sighs softly, sitting down on his bed, watching your every move.
As you get comfortable, Baji scoots closer to you, gently playing with your hair, twisting it into small, loose braids, before undoing them and starting over. "You're safe here. Just rest, your body is always in fight or flight mode, you gotta relax a little." He hums softly, moving his fingers to massage your scalp. After several hours of calm banter and watching TV shows, you and Baji end up falling asleep on each other, curled up, arms and legs interlocked peacefully.
