Chapter 6 - The Descent Into The Dream

That night, Elias finds himself restless, thinking about Selene's words

Could she possibly know my past life?

There is no way!

Only I know such a thing.

As he is only thinking of selene,

she enters the room

Speak of the devil.

"Dream well, Elias. If you still doubt me, maybe the night will grant you answers."

She says with a calm but sharp voice

Elias finds himself confused on the last part of what Selene just said.

Maybe the night will grant you answers..? What the heck is that supposed to mean?!

Elias shrugs it off and prepares to go to sleep.

Well…. You can leave now, Miss Selene.

Dont think I didnt realize you watching me

"Guilty!" She says

Well goodnight Elias, I hope you can get the answers you wanted while the night is still young

Elias looks at Selene with a puzzled expression

"Goodnight Miss Selene, you can—leave now. You dont have to keep on watching me."

Okay, sweet dreams Elias, dont let the bed bugs bite

She says while winking at me with a playful expression

Right after Selene leaves, has Elias tried convincing himself Selene is just blunt and she knows nothing

As he finally convinces himself he closes his eyes while feeling that something is definetely off.

Before he fully falls asleep, he felt as though.. the room was suddenly heavier, the shadows surrounding him strech oddly, his body relaxes but his mind sharpens—as if something is pulling him in.

Darkness—

After a moment of silence.

Elias finds himself in a unfamiliar but eerily familiar place—the streets of a ruined city

What am I doing here.?

He is wearing ragged old clothes.. the same as a beggar.

Why am I dressed almost identical to a.. beggar?

How did I even get here?

I feel…. Isolated, the city feels abandoned, yet I sense that I am not alone. I hear distanced whispers.

The sky.. it feels wrong, the sky is yet too bright. It looks unnatural.

It almost feels like a déjà vu, as if I… lived through this before. Could this be a past I have forgotten? A future I have yet to discover?

Elias stands up straight to find information about the ruined city he is in

Ah, there are people here.

I try and greet them to ask questions about the city.

But they look at me in disgust and go back to the conversation they were in.

They acted like I wasnt a human, but I know I was.

Did they think of me this lowly.?

Is this how it feels to be a…. Beggar?

He now knows the harsh struggles to

Being someone so.. low in life

I hear many whispers around me. All of the whispers about the same topic

Whispers recalling a titan known as "The Calamity's Herald"

The Forgotten Calamity was all the people here whispered about.

Descriptions about the being

Fear of the being

And most importantly the arrival of The Forgotten Calamity, Erebus

I heard from one of the.. "friendly" people here that Erebus isn't a name that you should speak of, so lightly.

Even mentioning his name could speed-up the process of Erebus's arrival I was told.

So.. This world is all a dream.?

Is this what Selene meant when she said I will find my answers while the night is still young?

What will happen if I die here?

Elias swallowed hard, his throat dry. His instincts screamed at him—this was not just a dream.

It felt…. Too real. Too vivid.

The way wind carried the whispers, the way the dirt beneath his feet felt coarse.

Even the sharp pain of hunger gnawing at his stomach—every sensation was detailed enough for Elias to know it wasn't an ordinary dream.

He tried to push through the crowd with all his might, hoping to find someone willing to explain more.

But the moment he got closer to another human they all flinched away as if he is carrying a plague.

Their fearful glances, the way they averted their eyes—he had seen this before.

But not in a dream. In life.

The life that he had lost.

A sudden noise interrupted the loud crowd—a deep, distant rumble, like the growl of something ancient and restless.

The whispers, the murmurs of the crowd all stopped once they heard the noise.

The air itself seemed to grow heavy, as if the weight of the world suddenly doubled

A woman beside him clenched her child close to her chest, her lips trembling as she muttered prayers under her breath.

An old man beside her shook his head , his face pale.

"It is beginning." Someone whispered

Elias's gaze fixed towards the horizon, in the far distance, past the ruined remnants of buildings and shattered roads, the sky had darkened unnaturally.

The bright, unnatural light that had felt so wrong moments ago was now swallowed by an abyss of shadows.

A storm? No—something worse

He could feel it. The air carried something that represents cataclysm, something ancient.

Then, the ground trembled beneath his feet.

A deep, guttural sound echoed across the ruined city—an otherworldy resonance that sent chills through his bones

Elias noticed he was the only one not running away.

He just so.. helplessly stared at the resonance.

Elias didn't need anyone to tell him what it was

Panic spread like wildfire. People screamed, scrambling in every direction.

Erebus, The Forgotten Calamity has awakened.
