"Whew... Good thing I didn't go into the part where the Bodhi Patriarch kicks out Sun Wukong. Otherwise, I'd have been stuck in another long conversation."
Having walked some distance, Gu Han finally let out a sigh of relief.
"You brat. It's this late and you're not back in your dorm—what are you doing out here?"
Yue Guan appeared before Gu Han, leaning casually against the wall. One arm was crossed over his chest, the other holding a chrysanthemum close to his nose as he sniffed it.
"Senior Yue Guan," Gu Han gave a slight bow and explained, "I just returned from seeing my senior sister and was about to head back."
Yue Guan tucked the flower away and walked over with his hands clasped behind his back. "Mm. How were today's classes?"
"Well, the students here are a lot stronger than the soul masters I faced at the Great Spirit Arena. And Teacher Ghost Leopard teaching style is quite... unique. I've gained a lot."
"Good, then take this." As he spoke, Yue Guan handed over a book with a golden cover.
"This is what you asked me for—knowledge about herbs and flowers. It contains a lot of rare immortal herbs you've probably never even heard of. Study it well."
Gu Han reached out to accept the book and flipped it open. The first page detailed the Miraculous Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, a renowned immortal herb.
"Thank you, Senior. I'll go back and study this thoroughly."
"Go on, and if anything confuses you, just come ask me." Yue Guan waved his hand.
After Gu Han left, a shadow emerged. From within it stepped a figure clad in black armor.
"I have to ask, Chrysanthemum Douluo... is this kid really as promising as you claim?"
Yue Guan, as if expecting the visitor, nodded without even turning his head. "Of course. If he wasn't, His Holiness the Pope wouldn't have taken him as a disciple."
"Hm."
Ghost tilted his head slightly, then said, "I've completed the investigation you asked for. This kid's parents were both rogue cultivators. Their spirit power wasn't high—just two Soul Kings."
"Oh? And where are they now?"
"They died twelve years ago—killed by evil soul masters, apparently."
"Dead, huh..."
Yue Guan frowned slightly. No wonder the kid was abandoned so young.
So that was the story.
It made sense. What kind of parent would willingly abandon their child?
"Such a pitiful child," Yue Guan sighed with genuine sympathy. Then he asked, "And what happened to the evil soul masters who killed his parents?"
"They were dealt with by the local Spirit Hall branch. Also twelve years ago."
Ghost glanced sideways at Yue Guan. "Are you going to tell the kid?"
Yue Guan nodded, then shook his head. "Eventually. But he's still too weak right now. We should wait. If we tell him too soon, I'm afraid he'll do something reckless."
"Up to you. Oh, and don't forget your promise—you owe me a drink and some meat."
"Of course. I won't make you come out here for nothing," Yue Guan waved a hand nonchalantly.
"Come on then, let me treat you to a taste of my personally brewed Hundred-Flower Wine."

After returning to his dorm, Gu Han sat down at his desk and opened the book Yue Guan had given him.
Even though he'd watched the donghua and read a lot of novels over the years, it had been so long that he could hardly remember what the immortal herbs looked like or how to harvest them.
Getting this book now was exactly what he needed.
Besides, the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well held far more immortal herbs than the ones Tang San had collected for the Seven Devils. After all, that guy practically emptied Dugu Bo's entire herb garden.
The book was packed with knowledge—extremely thorough—and included hand-drawn illustrations by Yue Guan himself.
Not just immortal herbs, but plenty of rare and high-quality plants were documented as well.
Knowing all this came from Yue Guan's soul, Gu Han couldn't help but mutter to himself, "With such extensive herbology knowledge, how is he still stuck at Rank 95?"
Logically, even without immortal herbs, such deep knowledge of medicinal plants should have been enough to improve his aptitude and push past the bottleneck. So why had he been stuck for so long?
It really was puzzling. Even after mastering an indestructible body, Yue Guan still hadn't broken through to Rank 96. Was he cursed by some kind of villain filter?
Gu Han shook his head. No point worrying about that now. Since he was involved in all this, he might as well help however he could.
Yue Guan might be a bit flamboyant, but he had a good heart and had shown Gu Han a lot of care. It was a real shame he was stuck at 95.
Fortunately, the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well held Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum—an immortal herb of the same origin as Yue Guan's martial soul.
Consuming it would definitely have a much stronger effect than it had for Dai Mubai.
Gu Han flipped through the book, absorbing the knowledge. Some of the herbs weren't even mentioned in the original story.
For example, the Netherworld Bloom and the Nine-Petal Immortal Lotus.
However, those herbs weren't suitable for him. Instead, his eyes focused on the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass and the Infernal Delicate Apricot.
Paired with ice-fire body tempering, these would greatly enhance his physique and completely make up for his lack of innate talent.
As for dual immunity to ice and fire—being immune to ice wasn't that useful, but fire immunity could be a game-changer for Gu Han.
That way, when he encountered fire-attribute soul masters in the future, he'd have a definite advantage.

Hall of Consecration.
Qian Daoliu had returned and summoned Qian Xunji.
"Father, you called for me?"
"Mm. This is Whale Jelly—eighty thousand years old. Try it out."
Qian Daoliu turned around and pulled a translucent, energy-filled item from his soul tool, tossing it to his son.
Qian Xunji caught it. The energy contained within the resin was powerful.
It wasn't explosive—rather, it was gentle and stable. Even an ordinary person could consume it without harm, though it would be a complete waste of the energy inside.
"Thanks for going out of your way, Father."
Of course, Qian Xunji was aware of his father's trip. Bringing back such a precious item was clearly meant for his benefit.
In his youth, Qian Xunji had blindly focused on increasing his soul power, leading to an unstable foundation and limited potential.
After breaking through to Titled Douluo, unlike the previous holders of the Six-Winged Angel Soul who advanced rapidly, he hit a bottleneck.
Each new level became exponentially harder. At this rate, he feared he might be stuck at Rank 96 forever.
And that was unacceptable. Every Angel Douluo of past generations had reached Rank 99. How could he be the one to fall short?
The pride of the Angel bloodline wouldn't allow such a disgrace. Qian Xunji had been searching desperately for a way to improve his aptitude ever since.

Ghost refers to Ghost Douluo, another elder of Spirit Hall and often paired with Yue Guan in missions.
