Chapter 257 - Sending You Home

After bidding farewell to Marion Wheeler, Luoshu returned to Site-19.

This would be his last visit for a long time. There was no reason to come back until he could hear what SCP-055 was saying.

As for how to hear the words of anti-memes, even Marion Wheeler had no reliable method—Luoshu would have to rely on luck.

Perhaps one day in the future, he would obtain an ability similar to Great Sound is Faint, granting him hearing beyond ordinary humans.

No—this likely wasn't an issue of hearing, but rather an intrinsic property of anti-memes.

Otherwise, those with enhanced auditory abilities would have long since deciphered their whispers.

Luoshu recalled that when he first unlocked the Anomaly Buster Milestone, he could suddenly discern the first syllables of SCP-055's previously garbled speech.

Meaning, if he upgraded the Anomaly Buster Milestone to Level 2, he might hear more syllables—enough to piece together SCP-055's meaning through context.

But leveling up the Anomaly Buster Milestone was extremely difficult!

So far, the dropdown menu only listed five entries.

Three of those were automatically added due to the Anomaly Namer Milestone's inherent counter-effects. Only SCP-173 (The Sculpture) and SCP-CN-1713 had been manually added through direct suppression.

But that wasn't the main issue.

The real problem was that the Anomaly Buster Milestone had required three entries to unlock. To reach Level 2, he'd need at least thirty.

At this rate, it might take Luoshu a year or two to achieve that.

A long and arduous road indeed.

He could only hope Marion Wheeler lived long enough to see it.

Setting aside distant futures, Luoshu had returned to Site-19 for one pressing task.

He headed to Sublevel 4's Biological Anomaly Wing, making a beeline for SCP-126's containment unit.

Months had passed since his last visit, and Site-19 had tightened security significantly.

Even past midnight, two heavily armed guards stood watch outside.

A row of sonar sensors lined the base of the walls—even tiptoeing would trigger them.

Of course, this wouldn't have stopped IR1901 in the past.

His habit of stomping in high heels had been a ruse to conceal his true ability: Sensory Isolation. If he wished, no one could detect his movements.

But that was before. Now, IR1901 was truly trapped.

Before coming here, Luoshu had visited Site-19's server room and subdued the mainframe system.

According to its logs, after suspicions arose about SCP-126, the Site Director had upgraded containment protocols.

Access was now restricted to Clearance Level 4, and a specialized sonic alarm had been installed to monitor IR1901's breathing patterns.

If the alarm failed to detect respiration for even 30 seconds, it would trigger an immediate lockdown.

Records showed that last month, IR1901's breathing had vanished for half a minute, setting off the alarm.

Security had interrogated him for hours afterward.

IR1901 insisted he'd been holding his breath for fun, but Luoshu knew the truth: he'd been trying to escape.

As a Chaos Insurgency infiltrator, IR1901 was trained in lockpicking—standard mechanical and electronic locks were no match for him.

But the Foundation's Level 4 security wasn't just about locks; it required authorization, which he couldn't bypass.

His only hope was to fake a breach, lure personnel inside, and slip out when the door opened.

That's exactly what he'd tried when MTF-Epsilon-11 (Nine-Tailed Fox) responded last time.

But Big Jack was no fool. Instead of opening the door, he'd brought flamethrowers, ready to "sanitize" the unit through the bars.

IR1901 could evade perception, but not death by incineration.

Terrified, he'd quickly announced his presence, narrowly avoiding a fiery end.

After this stunt, flamethrowers became standard equipment for guards outside his cell.

One more false move, and the Foundation would burn him alive.

Thus, IR1901 had spent months in solitary confinement.

Poor kid…

Luoshu entered the unit and used Thousand-Mile Tracking to locate IR1901, who was snoring loudly in bed.

"Wake up! Enough sleeping!"

IR1901 mumbled in his sleep, "I dreamed of you again… Don't leave me… Waaah!"

Luoshu kicked the bedframe repeatedly until the man finally stirred.

"Ow! Ow! Stop! Is it… really you?" IR1901 whimpered.

Luoshu sighed. "Get up. I'm sending you home."

"Home? You mean… execute me? No thanks!"

"No, literally sending you home," Luoshu said flatly.

The rest was simple.

With the mainframe's cooperation, the sonic alarm in IR1901's unit had already been disabled.

Luoshu ordered the system to reactivate it in 24 hours—by then, IR1901 would be long gone.

After leaving Site-19, Luoshu used a Chaos Insurgency line to contact Waiter.

"I've retrieved IR1901. Let him rest for a while."

"Understood. Any plans moving forward? Need our assistance?"

"No, I'll handle it myself. Just keep IR1901 safe—that's help enough."

With Sensory Isolation, Luoshu could infiltrate any Foundation site at will. He didn't need the Insurgency's help.

After delivering IR1901 to the Chaos Insurgency, Luoshu faced a choice.

Where to next?

Stay in the New Continent and cause chaos?

Or return to Site-CN-06 and log more entries?
