Chapter 234 - The Last Child Labourer

After hanging up the phone, Luoshu set aside his worries and slept soundly, waking up around noon.

Today, he planned to deal with the last child laborer of SCP-CN-722 before leaving Beijing.

The location of SCP-CN-722-5's supermarket hideout, along with all of Site-CN-02's arrangements, had been secretly sent to Luoshu's phone by the supercomputer "Bamboo Slips."

With such a capable "believer," Luoshu's understanding of Site-CN-02 was now on par with the site director's.

So when night fell, he used Thousand-Mile Tracking to check on the "God" and Barbie, confirming they wouldn't suddenly appear before heading to the supermarket to scout the situation.

To effectively contain SCP-CN-722-5, the Foundation had purchased the entire supermarket and modified the entrance to its nest, disguising it thoroughly.

This way, even if shoppers accidentally wandered near the nest, they wouldn't notice anything unusual.

Additionally, every employee in the supermarket was a Foundation security officer, and an entire Mobile Task Force unit was stationed in a residential complex right across the street, ready to reinforce at a moment's notice.

In other words, the other six child laborers of SCP-CN-722 combined weren't as much of a threat as SCP-CN-722-5.

The Foundation had managed to extract the other six and contain them in Site-CN-02, but SCP-CN-722-5 remained beyond their control.

However, as long as the target was a humanoid anomaly with intelligence, Luoshu wasn't too worried.

First, he could communicate (or manipulate) with it.

Second, the Anomaly Slayer Milestone provided a deterrent.

Speaking of which, after Luoshu killed "Cupid" yesterday, the milestone had already begun subtly influencing the humanoid anomalies around him.

The most obvious example was "White Eyes"—the weakest-willed of the group, now too terrified to oppose Luoshu.

Even the strong-willed Barbie had been affected.

Yesterday, when she learned "Cupid" had been killed, she had initially wanted to storm upstairs—but "The Master" stopped her.

Given her violent temper, when had she ever been this cautious before?

In the past, if one of her subordinates was even injured, she would've immediately torn the perpetrator to shreds.

The root cause? The Anomaly Slayer Milestone had psychologically influenced her.

Similarly, "The Master" knew Barbie's temper well—yet he still chose to advise caution at that moment, another effect of the milestone.

These small details had gone unnoticed at the time, but "The Master" had since started sensing something was off—though he hadn't yet pinpointed the cause.

Only Luoshu, as the one who triggered the milestone, quickly grasped its subtle power.

According to "Bamboo Slips," the child laborers had fragile wills and were prone to crying fits.

Thus, the fear-inducing effect of the Anomaly Slayer Milestone worked even better on them—which was why Luoshu had so easily subdued the other six child laborers last night.

After circling the supermarket, Luoshu didn't enter.

He was currently Site-CN-02's most wanted enemy, and walking into their territory without antimemetic protection would be suicide.

He was just scouting the area, planning to make his move after midnight.

Luoshu stood in a dimly lit alley across from the supermarket, where the surveillance camera at the entrance had already been animated into his informant.

He pulled out a military-grade telescope from his backpack and began observing the supermarket.

The man smoking at the entrance was a member of MTF-Xīn Chén-8, as confirmed by the photos "Bamboo Slips" had sent him.

Several other "loiterers" nearby were also undercover agents.

Adjusting his cap, Luoshu shifted his focus inside.

SCP-CN-722-5's nest entrance was hidden in a cabinet behind the cosmetics counter—which, as any supermarket-goer knew, was always placed prominently near the entrance because "women's money is easier to take."

The child laborer had likely chosen this spot out of feminine instinct.

Even the Foundation couldn't change that, only camouflage it as best they could.

After a while, Luoshu locked onto his target—a luxury cosmetics display backed against an unusually thick load-bearing pillar.

The pillar's diameter was conspicuously larger than the others, clearly hiding a 20-square-meter secret space behind it.

According to "Bamboo Slips," pushing aside the display cabinet would reveal SCP-CN-722-5's nest—a makeshift vanity table and bed built from wooden planks, with cosmetics scattered across the table and the spatial tunnel entrance hidden beneath it.

Having gathered enough intel, Luoshu turned to leave.

It was now 7 PM, the time when SCP-CN-722-5 left daily to carry out missions for the "God."

The supermarket "employees" discreetly picked up their walkie-talkies.

"Calling C-CN-02359—has the subject left the nest?"

"Reporting—subject entered the spatial tunnel ten seconds ago. Biometric radar confirms absence."

"Understood. Continue monitoring. Notify me immediately upon return."

"Alerting MTF-Xīn Chén-8—target is mobile. Proceeding with tracking."

"Copy that. MTF-Xīn Chén-8 assuming surveillance."

Luoshu had already turned to leave, intending to kill time until after midnight.

But as he walked deeper into the alley, a sudden chill crept up his spine.

A girl in white stood behind him.

If not for the gruesome penetrating wound on her face, she would've been a stunning beauty.

But that very wound revealed her identity—

SCP-CN-722-5.

Behind her, space blurred, revealing a dark tunnel leading back to a crude girl's bedroom.

In an eerie voice, she whispered:

"Enemy of the God… DIE!"

Luoshu felt a sharp pain in his chest—

A semi-transparent hand had pierced through his back, gripping his heart—
