Chapter 17 - The king and his Pawn.

Meanwhile, Christian had already been informed that Silva had gone out with Claudia and that Christiana was back at his villa. Casually, he waved his hand, dismissing his butler, Mick.

"I hope you're still aware of our bet, my dear Silva."

A ghost of a smirk played on his lips.

Just then, a voice interrupted him.

"Oh man, long time no see, mister handsome!"

Jayden teased, striding toward Christian with a playful smile.

He was a tall man with a well-proportioned figure, light blonde hair, and striking green eyes.

"Let's get straight to the point. Unless you ensure Christiana is properly guarded, consider the contract I proposed retracted."

Christian's tone was cold as he crossed his legs.

"Oh man, already so cold toward me?" Jayden sighed dramatically.

"But what if I don't love her? Will you manipulate me as usual?"

He leaned in, whispering into Christian's ear.

Christian smirked faintly. "I guess he's just too happy to see me back—that's why he isn't asking why I married her."

Shoving Jayden's face away, Christian's voice remained indifferent.

"Too bad I'm not into men." His gaze darkened. "So behave and be a gentleman."

Jayden pouted like a whining child.

"Always so cold toward me, Chris."

Jayden turned serious, snapping his fingers as the room lights brightened. Pouring a glass of wine, he studied Christian.

"I'm guessing you're doing all this to protect her."

He handed Christian a glass. "But why have me guard her when you could just send her overseas, far from his sight?"

"You're underestimating Branden, aren't you?" Christian replied as he got up.

"After all, there was another incident—Christiana was nearly kidnapped again."

"Another pathetic attempt?" Jayden said casually, following him.

"Who else would it be? But Chris, getting her new security detail without her consent—isn't that just going to make her hate you?"

Christian smirked. "How do you know she hasn't already agreed to my request?"

"After all, I'm giving you an opportunity. You've always wanted to be closer to me, freak."

Christian thought nonchalantly.

As expected, Jayden grabbed his hand.

"Oh man, that's why I love you. Always ahead of me, aren't you?"

Jayden grinned, placing a wrapped gift in Christian's hand.

"But make no mistake," he added with a charming smile. "I only like you since that day, you know."

"You were gracious and perfect…."

His mind drifted back to the moment he had fallen for Christian during their time at the Elite military academy.

"A real-life prodigy—his shooting and attack Skills completely captivated me."

Jayden thought as they walked toward the basement.

His mind drifted back to an image from years ago—twelve-year-old Christian landing a rapid, clean triple shot straight into a dummy's forehead, his posture effortlessly unhinged. Jayden had been on his knees, staring in awe, blushing at the sheer precision of the attack.

That was the day I fell—not just for his skills with weapons, but for the way he wielded them.

"An attack meant to surprise me…"

Back in the present, Jayden mused, his thoughts lingering.

" Why did he appear back then?"

Just then, he noticed Christian had caught on—as always—reading him like an open book.

"Let me guess," Christian said nonchalantly. "You're probably replaying the first moment of your obsession with me."

Jayden smirked, sticking his tongue out playfully.

"Oh man, how do you always know?"

"By the way, I tried to prod him about Branden, but he's stubborn," Jayden said, his tone shifting to seriousness as he unlocked the basement door.

Inside, a man was chained to the wall, his body slumped, eyes filled with terror.

"I see."

Christian's voice darkened as he unwrapped the gift Jayden had given him—a sleek, sharp dagger glinting under the dim light.

"If that's the case… why keep his tongue intact?"

Without hesitation, Christian drove the dagger into the man's throat.

Jayden shrugged, unfazed. "I didn't know what you planned to do with him."

"Besides, judging from what you said, he's just a pawn in an intricate network of communication."

Christian remained cold, his movements precise as he sliced off the man's tongue without a second thought.

"Branden has no use for disposable pieces."

A slow, smile crept onto Christian's face as the man writhed, his muffled screams echoing through the room.

"He's nothing more than the result of orders passed through layers of security," Christian mused, holding up the severed tongue, blood dripping between his fingers.

Tossing the severed tongue aside, Christian glanced at Jayden, who was watching with a flattered smile on his face.

"You know what to do from here on out."

With his final words, Christian turned and exited the room.

"Certainly, Chris!"

Jayden smirked, snapping his fingers.

Immediately, two security guards stepped forward, suspending the man in a suicidal position with rope as Jayden walked out.

"I'm enjoying this family drama!"

Jayden's smirk widened as he relished the upcoming encounter between Branden and Christian.

"Oh, now that I think about it," Jayden mused cheerfully.

" now thinking about it, Who was that woman who caught his interest enough for marriage again?"

His gaze darkened.

"Sir, what do want me to do with the rest on them."

A voice interrupted room behind.

"KILL THEM ALL, SEVRO!"

Jayden turn back with a smile.

"Am sure that's what he want anyway judging from what happen earlier."

Jadyn's said walking away coolly with smile.

"It a happy isn't it?"

"Yes, master."

Sevro responded as he snapped his fingers ordering the guard to carry out Jadyn's order.

"Master has truly grown since his obsession towards master Christian began!"

Servo thought as he looks happy for him.
