Fujino gazed at the severely injured, unconscious man before him, a myriad of thoughts swirling in his mind.
If his memory served, this man should be one of the most tragic figures in Detective Conan – Yamato Kansuke.
Yamato Kansuke was a police officer from Nagano Prefecture. While pursuing a suspect into the snowy mountains, he was caught in an unexpected avalanche.
Because of that avalanche, Yamato Kansuke remained unconscious for some time. When he finally awoke, he discovered he was disabled – blind in his left eye and lame in his left leg.
Not only was he physically disabled, but during his coma, his childhood sweetheart, Uehara Yui, mistakenly believing him dead, married someone else...
Fujino remembered how, in his past life, as a staunch believer in true love, seeing this plotline unfold had filled him with rage, prompting him to curse out Gosho Aoyama's entire family tree.
"If something like this happened to me, I'd probably contemplate suicide..."
Recalling the memories associated with Yamato Kansuke, Fujino couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.
Fortunately, none of that had happened yet. Since he had stumbled upon this avalanche, perhaps he could indirectly save this childhood romance.
If disappearing due to the avalanche was the root of all the problems, then he would simply nip this tragedy in the bud.
With that thought, Fujino retrieved the first-aid kit from his pocket dimension and began administering emergency care to Yamato Kansuke.
Putting on medical gloves, he gently lifted the bloodied eyelid. Beneath it lay a damaged eyeball... Visible lacerations marred its surface.
"The eyeball is ruptured... Looks like the lens is damaged too."
Fujino frowned, assessing the eye injury.
Damage to the eye lens like this, at the very least, would result in impaired vision. Considering the medical standards of this era, it was highly likely Yamato Kansuke would lose sight in this eye.
Looking away, Fujino took a deep breath, recalling the medical first-aid knowledge stored in his mind.
Soon, he found the appropriate treatment procedure in his mental database.
[Penetrating Eye Injury: Do not flush with liquid. Use cotton swabs only, gently wiping away blood and debris. Bandage afterward.]
Having found the correct first-aid method, Fujino took out saline solution and a pack of cotton swabs from the medical kit.
The contents of the kit were meticulously prepared after Fujino acquired the Doctor profession, ensuring he was ready for any eventuality.
How prepared? Let's just say, besides basic life-saving supplies, the kit even contained an antidote for cyanide poisoning.
After cleaning the damaged eyeball with cotton swabs and saline, Fujino activated the magnification feature of his Vision Enhancement Glasses to inspect the wound closely.
Confirming all residual foreign matter was removed, he carefully bandaged the eye.
Having dealt with the eye injury, Fujino turned his attention to Yamato Kansuke's leg.
Upon examination, he found multiple fracture points in Yamato Kansuke's left leg.
These fractures were distributed across both the lower leg and thigh.
If his assessment was correct, these fractures were likely caused by the avalanche slamming his body against the tree.
Fortunately, although there were multiple fracture points, the bones hadn't shifted significantly, avoiding puncture wounds that could cause severe arterial bleeding.
Confirming the injuries were within his scope of treatment, Fujino carefully repositioned the fractured bones in Yamato Kansuke's leg back into their proper alignment.
After disinfecting the open wounds with iodine, he then took out an Okamoto 0.01 condom(often used improvisationally in first aid for waterproof dressings), stood up, and approached the large tree near the pit he'd just dug Yamato out of. He swung his wooden sword at a branch.
Crack!
With a sharp snap, two relatively straight branches broke off. Picking them up, he secured them on either side of Yamato Kansuke's broken leg.
The purpose of this was to prevent the broken bones from shifting during transport, which could cause secondary injuries like ruptured blood vessels.
[Detecting Host performing first aid. Treatment effect increased by 100%.]
"That should be about right."
After completing this series of first-aid measures, Fujino sat down heavily in the snow.
This was all he could do for now.
Further treatment required a fully equipped hospital.
[Detected Host successfully rescued severely injured patient. System rewarding +50 Doctor Proficiency points.]
[Detected Host Doctor Profession Task: Rescue Stranded Man, completed.]
[Task Reward: 500,000 Yen, +50 Doctor Proficiency points distributed.]
[Current Balance: 1,200,000 Yen]
[Current Doctor Profession: Intermediate (150/300)]
"Phew..."
Hearing the system notifications, Fujino let out a long sigh of relief.
Since the system registered the task as complete, further first aid from him wouldn't yield additional benefits.
[New Detective Profession Task detected. Please check.]
Just as Fujino relaxed, about to stand up and stretch, another system notification chimed.
A light screen materialized before Fujino:
[Detective Profession Task: Apprehend Fugitive]
Objective: Capture the fugitive on the snowy mountain.
Reward: 500,000 Yen, +100 Detective Reputation.
"A fugitive? Must be the guy Yamato Kansuke came up here to catch, right?"
Fujino murmured, looking at the task details on the system interface.
Crunch, crunch, crunch.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps approached from behind.
Fujino spun around and saw a man wielding a large rock charging towards him.
Seeing this, Fujino's eyes narrowed. He executed a quick roll, dodging the man's savage blow with the rock.
After dodging the attack, Fujino slowly stood up from the snow, his gaze fixed on the man who had just attacked him.
The man wore a black quilted jacket and black jeans. He had a fierce expression and a rather stocky build...
If it were an ordinary person, that blow would likely have cracked their skull open, right?
At this thought, Fujino's gaze turned colder.
Just then, the man who had attacked Fujino regained his bearings. He turned, about to press the attack, but froze.
Before him stood a strange figure clad in white robes.
And bizarrely, beneath the figure's hood, reflecting the snowy glare, there was only pitch-black emptiness!
What the hell?
The man stared at the bizarre figure, momentarily stunned.
Before he could recover, Fujino retrieved a Batarang from his pocket dimension and threw it.
The Batarang flew straight towards the man's abdomen. A moment later, the man collapsed, unconscious.
"This guy must be the fugitive mentioned in the system task, right?"
Fujino walked slowly over to the unconscious man, gave him a solid kick, and muttered to himself.
