Chapter 15 - Return to Hyderabad

The interview went on, and after a while, she ended it.

The next day, she arrived in Hyderabad, stepping into the princely state after 11 long years.

She arrived in the main palace, where main servants welcomed her. Many of them had left the job due to fear of dying to a mob.

She had her bodyguards take key positions, and entered her room. It was left untouched after she had left.

Lying on the familiar bed, she thought about what to do now.

She has inherited around 4000 crore INR, or around 1.06 billion USD since INR has been devalued to 1USD=3.3 INR recently.

And it is not in stocks or such, but land, palaces, jewels, gold and such. So the value will only increase with time.

Creating a bank is not good. Afterall, who knows when her bank might get nationalised? Nehru is stupid like that.

Money is not just for making more money. Afterall, personal money has lost value to her because how much she has as a princess, and now the Nizam of Hyderabad.

So, getting hold of something that isn't available in India...

Obviously, oil.

The largest oil regions are Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and USSR.

Investing in Iran and Iraq is no-go because of future. USSR doesn't accept investment. And even if it will, she wouldn't actually control the oil wells she has bought.

Saudi Arabia is very stable, but it sponsors terrorism and extremism.

So, she thought about UAE. Well, it is currently Trucial States, which do contain Abu Dhabi and Dubai. She will just call it Abu Dhabi.

UAE has not discovered oil yet. Currently, it is a poor dessert. Abu Dhabi will have the largest oil reserves in UAE.

Relatively speaking, UAE is and will be tamer compared to Saudi Arabia and Iran of future.

Moreover, UAE currently uses Indian currency issued by RBI.

Well, oil is one thing to do.

The next thing to do with the money is infrastructure.

Since she is the Nizam right now, and will be for around 5 years before 1952 elections, she has complete control. Technically, India has it, but she is the government right now.

Hyderabad state has some major cities like Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Aurangabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, and such.

Taking out a map, she decided which regions to plan out development for.

(First PoV)

1. HYDERABAD CITY

It has many things, like Charminar, Golconda Fort and Falaknuma Palace that I am at. It is currently a major center for trade, pearls, and diamonds.

I am going to develop it as the Electronic City of India. I mean, since it is my main city, and I am an Electrical Engineer, it's obvious.

So, aside from universities, I have to consider future traffic, housing, water scarcity and such.

So right now, I have to build a big university, an airport like Singapore, have Singapore-like housing, water network, drainage system, highways, and a local train network which is off the general train. Meaning, using a Standard Gauge.

Hyderabad Local will be the first Metro of India.

I will also develop it as tourist and fashion hub due to Charminar and diamond and pearl industry aside from Electronics manufacturing in the surrounding regions, outside of the main city.

2. SECUNDERABAD

It is the twin city of Hyderabad, established as a British cantonment. British troops were stationed here.

I don't plan to make it urban too. Its best to develop it as a Village-Town to support Hyderabad with agriculture and animal husbandry. Hyderabad Local will also cover Secunderabad.

3. AURANGABAD

It has Bibi Ka Maqbara, one of the many copies of Taj Mahal.

And Ajanta & Ellora Caves nearby.

First, I will rename it to Shikohabad, to erase Aurangzeb and instate Dara Shikoh instead.

It will be developed as a tourist place. Ajanta and Ellora Caves, and 'Copy Taj Mahal' renamed.

It will be a hub for copy things. Where one should be able to get copies of almost everything in the world. Be it branded clothes, jewelleries, electronics or even Taj Mahal.

4. WARANGAL

It is the Ancient Kakatiya Capital Orugallu, meaning One Stone. It is known for its fort and Thousand Pillar Temple, architecture of making things from a single strone.

It is also a major producer of durries (rugs) and brassware.

First, rename it back to Orugallu.

It will be developed as some sort of fusion between historical and modern city. With the various temples and such. I will open an Architecture & Civil Engineering college here to formalise the various historical building methods.

5. NIZAMABAD

Obviously named after Nizam, it is an Agricultural Center.

It is the major producer of sugarcane, rice, and turmeric.

It lies in Godavari River Basin, with Manjira and Manar rivers.

It also has Nizamsagar Dam.

It is also one of the areas I am going to give most attention to. First, modernizing and expanding the dam to produce electricity, along with turbines throughout the rivers lengths where flow is good, especially during monsoon, for electricity.

It will be an Agriculture based city. An Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Research College, reducing rice and sugar and promoting millets and other less water demanding crops, lots of lakes, cold storages for storing crops, plus there is that fort whose name I forgot.

Drip Irrigation, biomass plants in each village, and some things will be tested here.

It will be a good tourist place as well. I will also build a Wildlife Sanctuary nearby.

There are other areas as well that will be developed.

Hyderabad state as a whole, will be developed with highways, pipelines , proper drainage, bio-manure production through each village, along with a bio-fuel cylinder to replace wood and LPG for cooking, etc.

But for all that, I need a large group of people under me who are actually capable of executing the tasks.

Hmm, lets prepare an exam for recruitment.
