Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Barrier and Breaker

"693 hours... That is almost a month!"

Blaze says.

The destructive power of the Sundown was so great, it can easily be compared to A-rank power.

Hell, even several S-rank powers may not be able to cause such an effect.

Genesis Legion is the most obvious one. Even though it is S-rank with three Sub Powers. It can never cause an explosion as destructive as this.

But the drawback is huge. The Sun Bird is officially useless for 29 days. Even Sunrise is locked away and can't be used.

If Blaze knew about this in advance, he definitely would spare Sundown for more critical moments.

But Blaze doesn't regret using it. Sundown created a perfect opportunity for him to go out of sight.

If the Liberty Sons and Henry saw the flying items and disappearing Crisis, Blaze really wouldn't know how to explain it.

Blaze put the Sun Bird back in the Inventory, leaving only one grid free.

"The Inventory is almost full again…

The Berserker's Blood, Diamond Skin, and Jade Scale are pretty small. I probably can free up some Inventory space and put them in a backpack or something.

A diametric cube is also ideal."

A diametric cube is a small, compact device used to store physical objects. Its inside is much bigger than its outside and is a magnificent invention of the X-21 century.

It is the backpack for the rich, where everything can be stored in a handheld cube.

Blaze can't use all the experience to expand Inventory. He has much more important uses for them.

A diametric cube will be a suitable replacement to alleviate some of the Inventory issue.

He's definitely going to buy it once he has the money.

Blaze grabs the Half Wolf's Core and climbs out of the sewer via the hole he blew up.

The status of the stadium startles Blaze a little bit, making him think he has been sent into some apocalyptic future where everything was destroyed.

But no, it is just the result of his destruction.

Blaze scratches his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Luckily this is not the real world.

The Liberty Sons approach him, they're trying to navigate through the rubble he created.

"You're really crazy, man!"

Batrick says.

"It is a bit overkill."

Preston nods.

"What is even your power ranking, Blaze?"

Dastan says.

Preston glances over to Dastan, visibly reminding him to not poke into Blaze's secret.

"It's alright if you don't want to tell."

Dastan shrinks his neck in guilt. It is impolite to ask someone their power level, but he is curious about the power that is able to level the entire stadium.

"Oh, it's just C-rank."

Blaze says.

"No way. A C-rank can never do this."

Dastan says.

"Yeah. But it's not like I can do it anytime. It has very strict requirements."

"Oh. So it's one of those powers."

"Enough."

Preston interrupts.

"Blaze's power is his business. It's not good to keep asking him."

"I know, Captain. Sorry for intruding, Blaze." Dastan sags.

"It's all right."

Blaze smiles.

"What are you going to do now, kid?" Anya says.

"I'm spent, have no strength left to do anything. I'm just going to the Voidgate and getting out now."

"Have you taken the Crisis Core yet? It is very precious."

"You meant this?"

Blaze takes out a palm-sized grey and red pearl from his pocket.

"Wow! That is a big core." Batrick says. "How did you find it?"

The Core can be anywhere in the Crisis's body. It is commonly known to take a while to dissect their body to locate the Core.

"The monster completely evaporated. This is the only thing it left behind."

Blaze says. Actually, the System disintegrated it, but it's better to say it like this.

The Liberty Sons all take a deep gasp and look at each other in disbelief.

That Crisis was strong, and its skin can deflect metal. They can't imagine the kind of power that is able to completely erase it from existence.

Well, they actually don't need to imagine and just need to look at the desolation scene around them.

"You want this Core?"

Blaze says.

Preston nods.

"We do. But it is yours. You defeated the Crisis fair and square.

You can take it to the Pocket Center to get it extracted.

If its energy is not suitable to you, you can sell it. We can buy it from you if it's the case."

Preston takes out a business card and gives it to Blaze.

"Here are our contacts.

You can call us if you need help as well."

"Are you offering services?"

"No. It's just help from a friend.

But if you want us to kill some fugitives, we can do that too. For a price, of course."

"Thank you, Captain Preston. I'll keep that in mind."

"Well, I think this is goodbye. We need to figure out a plan to take out the last Crisis. This Voidgate won't be staying for long."

"Why is that?"

Blaze asks.

"You must have known that the Crises are the power sources to the Voidgate. They establish a connection to our real world.

Once a power source is dead, the time the Void can maintain this connection becomes shorter.

If all the power sources are defeated, all Awakeners will instantly be teleported back to where they came from."

"Without needing to go to the Voidgate?"

"Yes, that's correct. But there is something weird about this Voidgate though.

We aren't from here, Blaze. We came here for a bounty.

Based on our research, there should be quite a few B-rank Awakeners and superheroes."

"But there isn't any B-rank here? Is that what you're saying?"

Preston nods.

"Except for the school president and you. All the B-rank Awakeners are nowhere to be found.

It must be because of a Barrier."

Preston can see the questionable gaze from Blaze, so he continues explaining.

"Temporal and Dimension Barrier Matrix, TDBM. People usually call it Barrier.

It can stop the Void from sucking you in. But it is very, very expensive and hard to maintain.

Only a few can afford the Barrier. I didn't think Akansa had it."

Blaze suddenly remembers the device that William uses, the mechanical bug that can send Awakened outside of the Void.

William only knows about its function but doesn't know anything else about it.

"What about a device that can send people out of the Void?"

"Oh, you meant the Dimension Breaker? It's also a rare item.

It is much cheaper than the Barrier but also costs quite a lot.

Awakened usually refrains from using it unless they have no other options."

"Thank you, Captain Preston, for answering my questions."

"It's no big deal, Blaze."

"I'm heading off now. See you again."

"Stay safe."

The Liberty Sons wave goodbye to Blaze.

Blaze's expression darkens after he turns his back to them.

The Breaker isn't cheap, but William has been given a lot of it. Aside from Alyson, Nadyr also gave William three more and asked him to bring any potential merchandise from the school.

The amount of credit it took to gather these Breakers is not small. Whoever is behind Nadyr, they are wealthy and, obviously, also very influential.

And all the B-ranks are also nowhere to be found.

Blaze doesn't believe in coincidence.

Whoever it is, no matter how powerful and influential you are. I will find you. And I will kill you.
