MISUNDERSTANDINGS
Tara blinked her eyes rapidly before finally being able to process Amber's words. What? She muttered, furrowing her brows, her pretty face was distorted. "You heard me the first time, I won't repeat myself." Amber lashed at her looking upset. Has she forgotten the plan? She thought to herself staring at Tara who was giving her a puzzled look.
To be frank, immediately Tara had been selected among her peers to be Decreash fifth queen, Amber's joy knew no bound, she immediately made plans to also make Tara become the mother to Haron's heir. She had inform Tara of her plans, and she was pleased to accept it, but now it looks like she has forgone her mother's wish and was simply nonchalant about having a child.
"Mother you shouldn't be discussing such a topic here." Tara cautioned her completely wary of her surroundings. She looked around and saw that they was no maid or guards with them. Her mother had been wise enough to send the two maids that was with them away, because she knew that they would need some space. I am not so foolish as to discuss this with you, if there was anyone present, Tara you have began to loose your trust me." Amber commented with displeasure laced in her tone.
Tara saw this and became sober, "Mother I have not lost my trust in you, I am just being extremely careful, you know what it took me just to get here, I don't want to end up like Katie." Tara quivered, at the thought of Katie disgraceful end, she never wants to experience such a thing and would do anything to remain Decrease fifth queen, with or without a child she was perfectly fine.
"Katie! What happened to Katie? Amber questioned with arched brows. She was unaware of Katie's execution, and was in the dark about her whereabouts. "It's a long story, let's leave it for another time." Tara said crossing her legs, she helped herself to a glass of juice. she was glad Katie was gone and knew her mother would be happy to here the good news, but then this woman will go ahead and fabricate new ways to make her life difficult. She would suggest to make plans, and try to persuade her to take Katie's place.
"Dear, you know I care about you, if you keep hiding things from me, then you will be drifting our relationship apart." Amber whined, and Tara felt a headache. "Mother I am not hiding anything from you, why would I? After all if it weren't for you I wouldn't be here" Tara retorted and her mother finally sidestepped the topic.
"Okay back to what I was saying, I have a perfect plan, that will leave you sprawling on the floor." Amber became euphoric as she bought out a wrapped object from her beautiful purse, placing it on Tara's hand she whispered something into her ear. "What? Tara screamed, her heart banging against her chest, as her forehead creased. Her eyes was wide opened, as they bulged out.
"Mother have you finally lost it? She questioned looking around to check if anyone had seen what her mother gave to her. She was wary of her mother's nonchalant attitude. "Why are you shivering like a drenched cat? Right before you is the answer to your solution." Amber rolled her eyes and sipped from her juice slowly.
What is wrong with this woman? was she that desperate to have a grandchild or was she really doing this for Tara's sake. This were the thought that ran through Tara's mind as she quickly hid the small wrapped object in her perfectly styled bun. Tara felt uncomfortable by her mother's crazy idea, if anyone caught her doing something so dreadful, that would be her end.
"Mother I can't go through with this, leave me out of your crazy plans", Tara mused. "Don't be pathetic Tara, I went through a lot just to get that stuff from the best herbalist, you had better make use of it, then we can celebrate the results." Amber didn't even spare Tara a glare as she shoved a snack into her mouth. Tara was just being scared for no reason, what is so herculean about giving her a grandchild?
"Mother, Haron will strangle me with his bare hands if he finds out I did such a thing, I am too young to die yet, I have a long way to go." Tara kept whining but Amber was not listening. Just then Titran walked in, he had been with Haron for a while at the palace courtyard l, they made merry and also struck a valuable deal between their kingdoms. Titran's face was beaming with gladness.
"We are taking our leave Tara," He informed her and soon Amber was standing by his side ready to leave. "Make time to come and visit us one day Tara, goodbye." Amber waved curtly giving her a sly wink, Titran didn't notice this, his mind was filled with the deal he had struck with Haron just a moment ago. Soon they were in their royal carriage, and on their way back to their Kingdom.
Tara immediately made for her chamber, she took out the object from her hair, it was wrapped tightly, she raised it up to gaze at it keenly. "What do you have there." Lora was suddenly behind her and she snatched the object from Tara's hand. Tara was stunned, asher face suddenly became red with anger. "Give it back! She commanded but Lora smirked immensely and twirled the wrapped object around her lean fingers gazing at it profoundly.
"What is this? She asked suddenly shooting Tara a suspicious glare, Tara stealthily snatched the object back from Lora and gave her a deadly glare. Its non of your business." She muttered and then pointing her index finger at the door..."Get out! She commanded, Lora's face became contorted by her vile behavior, this was a slap to her face, the apex of disrespect.
Lora turned her direction to the door, aching her brows she shot Tara daggers with her eyes, then languishly took her leave. Tara placed her hand on her chest as she panted heavily, "That was close." She muttered under her breath. She scanned the object in her hand and her eyes twinkled. "My weapon of victory! She smirked. She was totally oblivious of who she had just disrespected, the queen of tactics would give her a befitting revenge.
Why was the Kingdom of Decreash suddenly blooming with wealth? The answer was simple, Haron has so many kingdoms wrapped around his little fingers now that he has five wives. Rachel's Kingdom was his pillow of war. The centre of defence, when he got married to Rachel, her kingdom made a deal with him promising him to always be there in the times of distress or war. Rachel got her skills from training hard, she had to give away her title as the future crown queen to her sister just to become Haron's wife.
Then it was Lora, all the sagacious royal advisor's came from Lora's kingdom they were filled with little craft, untanned and very wise. The reason most royal advisor's came from there was because they had great knowledge of the earth, and have the map of the earth scripted in their head. Lora learnt her cunningly nature from her father, greedy King Jarob.
His kingdom was the third largest in the country but yet he was never contented. Then to make matters worse he got married to a pompous woman and together they produced a daughter so cruel and filled with their genes of hostility, Lora's venom was not to be underestimated.
Haron's third wife Katie, who was the former queen of Decreash was a rare beauty was a docile woman. An enchanting damsel that captured his heart at first sight. Katie's kingdom was said to have been the kingdom of beauty. It's wealth was always the talk of so many, and it gained popularity with a short span of time. Then came Jia the fourth queen of Decreash, Jia's was the princess of Samaria the second largest Kingdom in the country.
Samaria main source of trade was their beauty products. Through out the country their perfumes and skin care products were making waves through the country. No wonder Jia was always looking dolled up and always smelled nice. Even till now forming a royal tribute with Jia's father the king of Livenna was difficult. He took pride in flaunting his wealth, and always liked to stroke his bears and pear into the eyes of his enemies with disgust.
Then came Tara, the fifth queen of Decreash, Tara's kingdom was the fifth largest in the country. The kingdom of Madivdune. They specialized in herbal medicine and had the best medical specialist. Haron's person medical specialist came from the kingdom of Madivdune. Their medicine was said to heal even the sickest of all, with only a drop of they herbal mixture the sickness will disappear!
What more? They made the best portions there was some rumors about them having witchcraft and all sort of divine powers to heal the sick. They even has sorcerers who could read and tell the future, Madivdune was indeed a kingdom of wonder. But none, even with all this features could rise up to the kingdom of Decreash. Decreash was above this kingdoms in both wealth and standards.
Decreash was the city of innovation, most of the tools and cutleries, where made in Decreash. Decreash had brilliant professors and had the most number of educated people. Infact Decreash had more educational background for it's people than most kingdoms, alot of royal families send their children to Decreash to graduate from the school of royalty.
Decreash also made the best wines, fruity wines and alcohols for all to make merry with. This was their main source of income. No kingdom could do without a supply of one of Decreash grapes wine, it was indeed iconic. Their main source of wealth was the foodstuff they exported to other kingdoms, due to the favourable weather condition, a lot of the subjects of Decreash were mainly farmers.
......
"Diana you don't have to go, stay my child." The old man's voice was shaky. The sun coming out of the wooden window radiated on his grey hair. "No father." Diana's sonorous voice pierced the air.
Her voice were like the harp of musical instruments, slow but sharp sending tingling vibrations whenever she talked. "I must go father, we have nothing to eat, it is my responsibility to take care of you and my sister Kiara, I have to go." She said trying to convince the old man. He took her hand in his and squeezed it gently. He was afraid something would happen to his daughter, he feared for the worse.
He didn't want to loose his darling daughters the way he lost his precious wife. He wanted to keep them safe, to protect them with everything he had, but how was he supposed to do that when he was getting weak by the day? His immune system was weak and he could hardly move a muscle. "Be careful my dear, don't venture too far from the farm, take Kiara along with you and make sure to be back before sunset." He cautioned her and Diana nodded curtly.
"I will father, if you need anything, remember to ring the bell." She said pointing at a rope by the side of the bed connect to a bell outside the house. It was a small thing she invented due to the fact that her father was getting weaker by the day and he could no longer scream out their names if he needed anything.
It was a genius idea and it worked perfectly. When the old man needed anything all he had to do was tung at the bell and it would ring loudly, then they would come running.
With that Diana kisses the old man on his forehead and quickly made her way through the door. She increased her steps as she wiped a tear tugging at the corner of her eyes. The old man days on earth was numbered and she knew it, was she also going to loose him the way she lost her mother.
She didn't want to become an orphan.
