Chapter 5 - EMERALD EYES

---------------------------ACT 4 -------------------------------------

EMERALD EYES.

I threw some dice on the table, but alpherg's number was more. He won all the jewels and then asked me.

What is the is most attractive thing for you in a lady?

I weighed a diamond, an emerald and a sapphire in my hand. Their clinking sound soothed and eased my ears.

I spoke.

....

Rasalas was patrolling at dawn. It was a usual day like any other. Soon enough, some people approached him.

"There is a wolf!! A big wolf! Save us!" A man was speaking for them, Rasalas without any hesitation spoke with his grip tightened on his sword.

''Lead the way!" Rasalas followed them, running through the streets. His armour clanking, heavily and tiring him.

Rasalas was desperate to not arrive late, to let this spark become fire. His steps halted as he observed his surroundings.

There were villagers with spears and even utensils. They all had cornered something, but it wasn't visible from there.

He walked towards them as his armour's clanking was heard among people so they gave him the route to that wolf.

"Rasalas is here!"

"He will save us!"

"Kill that wolf!"

.. cries like these spiraled his head. He unsheathed his sword, shining golden in early hour. He gave a signal to retreat.

Everyone other than him was backing off and slowly leaving. It was an old hut, and something was inside it. The door was broken. Rasalas was curious to see what did his foe looked like.

Were there any casualties? With contrast to the shadows a pitch black figure emerged within the hut, coming out. Her claws jet-black dug in the ground with just a press.

A dark wolf, nearly the size of that hut came. Some people who were standing there with Rasalas also left in awe.

The fur was absorbing most of the sunlight, making it hard to see. Her eyes were light green, with dark circles in them. Like a leaf pattern but in eyes. Something struck Rasalas, his shoulder's felt heavy.

A sweat dropped from his head, tracing down. Rasalas removed and threw his helmet on the ground. Breeze flowed over his temples, giving a cool.

The wolf looked in his eyes. The green glow was dangerously familiar. Without hesitation, he moved his first step but stopped there.

He saw a baby wolf came out of that came out of the hut. Rasalas had to tighten his sword but his mind was conflicting.

His duty or his humanity.

On surface it might seem any other choices where they try to scare away both of them or try to cage them. But this wolf was different, it was a man killer. And was unfazed.

It either dies or kills. Yet the eyes of this one were different. It had a softness, while looking at Rasalas.

Either Rasalas had to kill the mother wolf and make the child an orphan by his own hands, or run away for the sake of this wolf. To abandon his duty, he performed for over months. He can't let down his people.

But were they his to even begin with?

.....

On the castle, Ameth was confused, because Athyna was taking his blindfold off his eyes.

Her hands were small but reached out with each knot untied, the hesitation and nervousness were taking effect. The sun was rising up in the sky, revealing more through Athyna's body—seraphic and alluring.

She didn't care. The blindfold fell over her eyes as Ameth looked down. Slowly the blindfold fell.

Eyes as captivating as an emerald, with lustrous facets that drank each drop of the golden hour.

Addicting to look for too long, as the comfort it gave like the plants in a garden. He didn't looked anywhere but her eyes. She smiled and patted his head.

"See! There is no problem!" His lips curved, left eye slowly warmed and a drop formed in the lid.

With the warmth it fell on her cheek. But he didn't know what was coming next.

She looked down, clenching her fist. A voice was heard, only to her.

"Do what you're told. Athyna." She hesitated, a little fear to look up. Wanting to say him to run, but she couldn't loose herself.

A weak and fragile punch on his chest and she spoke.

.....

I spoke, answering his question.

Hmm! I hummed . Man-to-man talk, I see. But my answer might surprise you.

He flicked his finger on the glass. What is it?

Eyes! I said. Eyes? He asked.

I elaborated. Eyes are the only way to see through a person's soul, and I love this idea and its meaning.

Should've asked someone else.. he muttered.
