Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: First tour of Seon

Lon lowered his head and looked ahead. Just a few meters away, he immediately spotted a road where various carriages were moving — some elegant and luxurious, others more modest, blending in with the crowd.

There were also tram tracks, along which trams occasionally passed. On both sides of the road, sidewalks bustled with numerous pedestrians.

Lon slowly began to walk, trying not to draw attention to himself. He exited the hospital grounds and chose the right side of the road, remembering there was a tram stop in that direction.

In his hand, he carried only the cane he had been gifted, using it for its intended purpose. No, it wasn't for fending off dogs — it was meant to support him while walking, relieving stress from his legs.

In his pockets, he had some coins — about 50 Gors. That should be enough to get him home. As for the case with the awards he recently received, he decided to give it to his father — carrying twenty Serj around with him wasn't the smartest idea.

That's why he had asked his father to give him 50 Gors in exchange for taking the Serj home.

With a straight posture, Lon resembled a true gentleman who could easily catch people's attention. But unfortunately — this was a different world, and many people wore clothes similar to his. So he didn't particularly stand out.

He walked along the sidewalk, carefully observing the road: it was perfectly smooth, seemingly made of compacted gravel and overlaid with hexagonal stone tiles. Lon didn't know how durable this kind of road was, but judging by its condition, it was clearly well-maintained.

Various types of transport moved along the road — mostly carriages with different designs, from expensive and ornate to simple and practical. There were also tram tracks, where double-decker trams occasionally passed by.

One of those trams was exactly what Lon needed to reach a certain interesting place.

Without wasting time, he continued admiring the unique architecture of the world around him.

Although Seon had no single architectural style uniting its buildings, there was a wide variety of designs. Still, the dominant one remained — Gothic style.

Almost all the houses Lon encountered on his way were built in Gothic fashion — sharp edges, dark tones, tall spires. Together, they formed a visually striking, consistent picture.

Lon glanced at the kerosene street lamps standing along the roads, about three meters tall.

«Kerosene lamps... Even though I have Renvel's memories of this world and how it works, I still can't wrap my head around a centralized system of kerosene lighting... Especially without electricity...»

As he continued walking, Lon began to observe the people walking nearby.

Ahead of him walked a girl in a white dress with a yellow ribbon around her waist. On her head was a sunhat decorated with a flower. She looked beautiful, even though Lon couldn't see her face — but he could imagine.

A bit farther ahead was a middle-aged man — Lon could see the clear wrinkles on his face. He wore a formal dark blue suit with brown shoes. On his head was a half-cylinder hat, covering his blue hair.

«Blue hair? That's a pretty rare hair color in this world. I wonder where he's from?» — Lon thought.

It seemed the man noticed Lon's gaze and turned toward him. Luckily, Lon quickly looked away, pretending to observe a nearby passing carriage.

«That was close... It would've been awkward if I hadn't reacted in time. I need to be more careful in the future,» — he reminded himself.

Once the man looked away, Lon returned his face to a neutral expression and continued walking.

Soon he noticed a small structure that served as a tram stop. It resembled the bus shelters from his previous world, though these were for trams.

As he approached the stop, Lon looked at the timetable sign and the clock nearby.

«Good thing there's a clock here I can rely on. Let's see... the next tram arrives in five minutes.»

Waiting five minutes wasn't an issue — especially in such an interesting world worth observing.

After a short while, Lon spotted a tram slowly approaching. It stopped near the shelter and opened its doors, inviting passengers aboard.

Without wasting a second, Lon quickly boarded and took a seat by the window, continuing to watch the world outside.

Soon the doors closed, and the tram began moving forward.
