Chapter 11 - "You have been chosen"

"Fuck! I don't need a stable foundation, I need to survive! Katherine, find me a clean slate on my world, a legio that hasn't had any mutations. I will personally rear them from childhood to make sure they get the right genetic setup. Make sure it's a female too."

"On it!"

The scene shown on the TV shuffled back and forth between thousands of legio every minute. They all had mutations to them; some had claws, others had bigger builds. A lot of them even had redundant mutations, like udders or fins.

After several minutes of searching, they finally found one.

A female, unmutated legio was sitting alone in a destitute cave. One of her four arms was hanging to the side, blood dripping from its fingertips. She looked to have been born very recently, but was already as big as a 13 year old human.

"That's the one! Seems like she has been ambushed by something, and is now injured. If I appear in front of her now and nurse it back to health, surely she would become a devout follower? Let's go. How do I create a body to incarnate into?"

"Simply try channeling your energy towards the spot you want to incarnate. Be sure to have a clear image in your head of how you want your body to look."

Mitch took his time to think about his body. He even manifested a model in front of him so he would have a clearer idea.

"I should create a body similar to the legio. I need more or less one Mynt to create a body capable of containing my Khad soul. That's quite expensive, considering I created a solar system and one planet, with just 75. Let's make some of the final touch-ups, and there… we… go!"

"Are you sure you want to incarnate looking like that?" Katherine was sceptical if the body Mitch had modeled was the right choice.

"Of course! Don't worry, this should be fine." He turned towards the TV and pointed his hand towards the spot right in front of the girl legio. Concentrating, he channeled enough energy for one Mynt and sent it towards the place he wanted to incarnate.

In a dim cave there was a lone girl. She had been attacked by one of her brethren, and had nearly lost her life to that. She was trying her best to take care of her battered body and wounded arm.

Suddenly, a bright light appeared right in front of her, and one of her kind came out of that light. This one was different though.

He had a dark halo hanging above his head, radiating a dim light throughout the entire cave. A pair of black, feathered wings were spread out behind his back, giving a feeling of protection and safety.

{B̶͈͌l̶͉̈́e̶̱̐s̵̬̒ś̷͓ǐ̸͍n̸̩͠ḡ̴͇ ̶̞͘o̶̥͆f̵̟͠ ̵͕̕I̶͉̾n̷̠̋t̷̤̚e̷̜̓l̷͖̉l̷̗͂ị̸̔g̶̭̔e̵̓ͅn̸̠͠c̸͙̊ĕ̵̯}

The man stretched his arm forwards and muttered something under his breath, which sounded like incomprehensible gibberish to the young girl. She felt something rush through her head and into her mind, filling it up with so-called words and definitions.

Her mind became clearer, her thoughts more coherent, and her amber eyes sharper. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the man approaching her until it was too late.

"Child, get on your knees and press your palms together in front of your chest. Close your eyes and tilt your head downwards. Then repeat this after me: 'I thank the Lord for the life thou hast provided me. Datom'."

Though confused by her new-found intelligence, it was by that same intelligence that the girl not only realised the disparity in power, but also the blessing she had received.

She followed the man's instructions, going so far as to lift even her injured arm. The pain was horrendous, and all she could do was grit her teeth and power through it.

"I t- tank de Rord, ugh, Lord fo da laf tou has prodided—kuh—provided mi. Datom!" Her tears of agony were falling one by one, streaking down her cheeks and into the puddle of blood she had kneeled into.

Having just learned the language the man told her to speak, she couldn't properly pronounce all the words. The pain that shot through her damaged arm, making her grunt, did nothing to help.

She might not have understood most of what she said, but she had done it.

"Very well. Remember that prayer, and make sure you thank Him for the new life He has given you every day." The man nodded slightly towards the little girl and then placed both his hands onto her shoulders.

"By the authority provided to me by the Lord, I heal your injuries and bless your health! {Blessing of Recovery}"

A warm energy flowed out of the man's palms and into the girl. It followed her bloodstream, revitalized her body and mended her wounds.

In just a few seconds she was back to being fully recovered, with the only sign of her ever being injured was the bloody cave floor and her teary-eyed face.

Now fully healed, the girl started to back off towards the wall. Although the man had healed her, she couldn't fully trust him. She snarled at him, trying to intimidate him in any way.

The man possessed powers beyond her comprehension, and she was aware of it, but if push came to shove she would rather injure the man as much as she could before her inevitable defeat.

The man did not seem to take any offence to this. He merely smiled and approached her with calm and measured steps.

"Fear not, child. I do not mean to harm you. My Lord, Khad Mitch, has sent me here to find and help you. You have been chosen to be His priestess in this mortal world."
