Nora's pov
I couldn't be sure what exactly I was expecting when I stepped into the room. My thoughts had conjured a dark creepy room, a dungeon or some sort of torture room but the plain white room with matching furniture proved me terribly wrong. I felt eyes on me from the corner of the room but I took my time to observe the simple beauty of the room before my eyes connected with those black orbs that threatened to suck me whole.
My breath hitched as I stared at the well built man leaning against the window. His dark hair was wet and fanned the front of his eyes, telling me he just came out of the shower. He possessed full sensuous lips which were at the moment thinned in a flat line and a clean shaven jaw that was defined and gave him an almost handsome rugged appearance. Everything about him exuded power and danger in an almost sinful way, there was just something captivating about him and try as I might I couldn't look away . I took in his plain white t shirt and black pants before my eyes slowly met his and I froze.
He stared at me with a mixture of different emotions. Anger, confusion and unmitigated desire which I knew also reflected in my eyes.
"Who are you?" His deep baritone voice broke the silence between us.
"Nora. My name is Nora Valen" I replied in a tiny voice. Something about his voice compelled me to reply.
"And who are you?" I was shocked at my boldness, even though I already had a fair idea who he was.
"Why were you on my pack grounds?" He questioned, ignoring my question and my eyes bulged as I realized I ran all the way into his pack territory.
"I had no idea I was trespassing. I thought it was merely free land" I defended.
"Who was chasing you?" He asked.
"I require an answer when I speak to you Nora" his voice oozed command when I remained silent and a rush of desire shot through me as I heard my name on his lips.
'Get a grip Nora' I chastised myself.
"Why am I here?" I asked him instead to which he quirked a brow at my defiance.
"Would you prefer to be dead?" He retorted.
"Of course not" my cheeks heated in embarrassment.
"You are the alpha of the rogues" I said and it came out as more of a statement than an answer. He remains silent, neither denying not accepting my assertion.
"Why were your wolves after me? Are you going to kill me?" I questioned.
"I don't know yet" he answered and my eyes widened in alarm.
"What do you mean you don't know yet?" My heart pounded loudly in my chest.
"Why did you save me if you harbour intentions to kill me?" I asked after a moment of silence. Our eyes met once more and it was as though there was a connection, an invisible string drawing me to him.
"I don't know" he answered honestly.
"If you prove useful to me you live, if not..." He trailed off, his words filling me with fear as his gaze washed over me.
He began to take slow steady steps towards me and I forced myself to stand my ground and not act like the scared little mouse I felt like in that moment.
He stopped just a hairsbreadth away from me and I gulped unsure of his intentions.
His gaze burned my face, almost as if I was some puzzle he was trying to solve while I looked at anything and everything in the room except his face.
He slowly made his way passed me and just as I was about to let out a sigh of relief, he stopped right behind me.
I felt his breath on my neck seconds before his fingers slowly brushed my hair away. My pulse quickened at his touch and my eyes involuntarily closed.
'What was this? What was happening to me?' I questioned silently.
Before I could register what was happening I heard a loud rip seconds before cool breeze caressed my back.
Instinctively, I made to move away from him but his hands grabbed me by my hips and held me firmly in place.
"What are you doing?" I asked breathlessly as I held the flimsy material of what used to be my shirt protectively against my chest. I awaited his reply but was met without a response.
One of his hands left my hips and trailed along my back till he reached my shoulder blade. His fingers carefully grazed along the crescent mark on my shoulder, tracing the pattern.
"And as the crescent emerges, their paths will converge and the course of fate will be altered" he whispered, his voice faint almost as if he was in awe.
"What are you talking about?" I scrunched my brows in confusion.
"The prophecy...it couldn't be" he muttered to himself.
"What prophesy?" I asked.
"How long have you had this mark?" His breath is hot against my ear as he completely ignores my question.
"I just discovered it this morning" I whispered, appalled at my body's reaction to him.
"Who else saw the mark on you?" He demanded.
"No one" I replied.
"What does the mark signify?" I asked, I had a feeling he knew something, something vital.
He stayed silent for a moment before he released me completely and for a tiny moment I felt bereft.
"Go get dressed we are heading out" he commanded strolling away.
"Excuse me?" I turned to face him.
"Did I stutter?" He turns towards me, his eyes cold and calculating.
"I don't even know your name. What makes you think I'll follow you blindly?" I called out to him.
"Because you don't have a choice" he stopped and turned to me.
"Ronan Kade. My name is Ronan" he said before he turned back to the door.
"Wait where are we going?" I squeaked, trying to get all the answers I possibly could from him.
"To get some answers" he simply said before he strolled out of the room leaving me a confused mess and a bundle of nerves.
'What the hell just happened?' I ask myself as I strolled out of the room and got dressed into the clothes laid down on my bed for me.
