Chapter 38 - Obito's Misunderstanding

If a person constantly experiences the process of chakra nature transformation, it will inevitably accelerate their understanding of the corresponding chakra nature.

"Okay." Rin nodded gently.

Then, Kiyoshi transformed his chakra into Lightning chakra, which spread from his palm to Rin's hand.

Lightning Release: Iron Skin involves mobilizing chakra near the skin, close to the meridian system above the skin cells, allowing Rin's hand to feel the process of attribute-less chakra transforming into Lightning chakra.

"Um..."

Rin felt a slight tingling sensation in her palm, as if an electric current was passing through.

However, she still didn't feel any changes.

...

Uchiha Settlement

Obito dragged his exhausted body over.

"Obito, you're back so late?"

"Are you hungry? Grandma will give you a pancake."

The couple running the Uchiha pancake shop greeted Obito.

Uchiha Kine took out a warm pancake and placed it in oiled paper.

"Granny Kine, I don't have any money." Obito quickly waved his hand and said.

With both parents deceased, he was being raised single-handedly by his elderly grandmother, who was over fifty years old.

If it weren't for the compensation left by his parents, his family's finances would probably be very tight.

Therefore, Obito was usually very frugal.

"It's okay, Grandma will give it to you."

Kine gave a kind smile and handed the pancake to Obito.

"Thank you."

Seeing that he couldn't refuse, Obito accepted the pancake.

He had just returned from training outside.

Originally, he was somewhat expecting Rin to come to Training Ground Nom 3, where they often trained before, but he didn't see her.

"Haha, young people these days are just too polite." Shubo smiled.

"By the way, Obito, how is the new clan member doing in class? You haven't isolated him, have you?" Shubo asked.

Shubo was born not long after the establishment of Konoha and had experienced the period of mutual adjustment between ninja clans from all over the world.

Having grown up with these experiences, Shubo didn't have much resistance to Kiyoshi coming from a foreign country.

After all, it has only been a few decades since the formation of countries and even villages, right?

Strictly speaking, everyone is a different kind of foreigner.

Shubo's question almost choked Obito, who was eating the pancake.

He coughed a few times before saying, "He's not being isolated at all. In fact, many people like him."

Obito pouted.

Rin aside, even Kurenai was always looking for Kiyoshi for something.

And once, during a break between classes, Shizune, who had always been low-key, had actually come to ask him if Kiyoshi was training hard in the clan.

This had opened Obito's eyes.

Is the identity of a foreign transfer student that attractive?

"Haha, we all are Uchihas. We should unite and cooperate. It's good that he can adapt. Just now, a little girl had come to ask about the location of his home." Kine chimed in.

Kine's views were similar to her husband's.

"Who was it?"

Obito ate half of the pancake and asked casually.

"She had purple markings on her face, a very cute little girl." Kine said.

Obito was instantly stunned.

Purple markings, a little girl.

Could it be Rin?

What is Rin looking for Kiyoshi for?

Obito frowned, and bid farewell to the couple in a hurry.

Then he ran towards Kiyoshi's house, forgetting about eating his pancake.

"Rin has never come to my house this late."

Obito felt a faint sense of unease in his heart, and he quickened his pace towards that direction.

...

The streetlights on both sides of the road were lit, casting a dim light.

"Do I not have talent in this area?" Rin said dejectedly.

Even now, she still hadn't felt the so-called Lightning chakra.

It seemed that her wish to help Kakashi would be in vain.

"It's okay. If it doesn't work once, we'll try a second time. Next time, we'll try expanding the area."

Kiyoshi comforted her, continuing to hold Rin's hand.

Rin slightly pursed her lower lip but didn't stop him.

Just as they were about to follow Kiyoshi's suggestion and expand the contact area, a sudden shout arose.

"Kiyoshi, what are you doing?!"

Obito ran in, his face filled with disbelief.

If he hadn't seen it, he wouldn't have known. Just one look was enough to scare him.

He climbed over the simple fence of Kiyoshi's house and saw through the sliding paper door that Kiyoshi was holding Rin's hand.

And they were even leaning close to each other.

Rin asked, "Obito, why are you at Kiyoshi's house?"

Rin was startled by Obito's sudden appearance.

Obito said, "Rin, I knew this Kiyoshi guy wasn't a good person. Was he harassing you just now?"

Obito became furious at the thought of this.

Rin's soft, fragrant little hand—even he hadn't held it like that. But Kiyoshi had already beaten him to it.

"You've misunderstood, Obito."

Kiyoshi withdrew his hand, stopping the chakra nature transformation.

The faint electrical stimulation around Rin's skin gradually subsided.

"Obito, I remember the door outside was closed, wasn't it?"

Rin frowned.

Although Obito was usually always naughty, Rin had always been tolerant of him.

But now, he was being a bit too much. He was like a child who would never grow up.

His mind was more childish and self-centered than others of his age.

Obito said, "It's not... Rin, I'm doing this for you."

Hearing Rin's slightly reproachful words, Obito didn't know why Rin seemed unhappy.

But he didn't want Rin to hate him, so he quickly explained.

If he hadn't heard Granny Kine say that Rin might be together with Kiyoshi, he probably wouldn't have ever come to Kiyoshi's house in his entire life.

"For me?"

Rin felt exhausted.

She was already worried and uneasy because of Kakashi's matter and on top of that, her progress in learning Lightning Release was still zero.

A layer of pressure covered her heart. And now, Obito was still being so out of tune.

"Sorry, I've wasted your time, Kiyoshi." Rin said apologetically.

"It's nothing. Rin, you've also taught me many things, haven't you?" Kiyoshi said with a smile.

Looking at Obito desperately trying to explain himself and Rin looking exhausted, Kiyoshi only felt... excited.

There were no lights on in the inner room.

Only a few faint rays of light were projected in from the outside.

Shadows shrouded Kiyoshi's face.

The dim world in front of him was covered with a layer of red.

A surge of heat began to swirl.

This was a more special feeling than the first time he had awakened his Sharingan.

Because only when both Sharingan eyes are gathered can the Sharingan's abilities be truly unleashed.

It was as if a beam of light had suddenly appeared in the long-silent darkness, tearing apart the night.

As the red veil faded, Kiyoshi saw a more real world than ever before.

His dōjutsu was rapidly advancing.

Now, he longer had just a single Sharingan, he had advanced to two Sharingans.

Kiyoshi's world had changed.

The distant scenery was no longer blurred.

The details that were previously hidden in the darkness were now clear in his eyes.
