Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Coveting Tang San

"What's so good about it? Get away from me!"

Ye Qiu's forehead twitched with a few black lines as he irritably pushed her away.

"Ah? Y-You… how did you get here?"

Xiao Wu suddenly grabbed the blanket, covering her petite figure, her face turning bright red as she stared at Ye Qiu.

"What do you mean, how did I get here? You shameless little rabbit, you rolled over here yourself!"

Ye Qiu rubbed his dark-circled eyes, his face utterly drained of emotion.

In the middle of the night, this unruly rabbit had clung to him, mumbling something about Da Ming, Er Ming, and even her mother. She had even licked him a few times! Did she really mistake him for a bamboo shoot?!

Rubbing his tired face vigorously, Ye Qiu glared at Xiao Wu and warned, "If you wake me up in the middle of the night again, I'll kick you off the bed!"

Xiao Wu blinked in a daze, glancing left and right, finally realizing that it was indeed her fault. She lowered her head, blushing, and meekly nodded.

"Mhm… Xiao Wu understands."

"I'm going to wash up. You fold the blanket."

Stretching lazily, Ye Qiu spoke weakly before heading out of the dormitory.

After a terrible night's sleep, his whole body felt drained.

Tang San's bed was already empty—he had probably gone to cultivate his Purple Demon Eyes.

After merging with Xiao Wu yesterday, Ye Qiu had also started considering the idea of accessing Tang San's memories. But the thought of getting too close to another man repulsed him. Besides, even if he did manage to obtain what he wanted, he probably wouldn't live long afterward.

Tang San might not be able to do anything to him directly, but with a father like that hammer-wielding monster… yeah, best not to poke that hornet's nest.

Thinking about it, Ye Qiu sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration.

Meanwhile, Xiao Wu pouted as she watched Ye Qiu leave.

After making sure no one else was awake to witness her embarrassment, she quickly resumed her usual bossy demeanor.

"Wake up! Get up already, you lazy worms!"

She stood with her hands on her hips, kicking the bed frames loudly one by one, forcing everyone awake.

By the time Ye Qiu returned, everyone had been roused by Xiao Wu's relentless shouting. Tang San had also returned from training.

Ye Qiu flashed his usual friendly smile and casually plopped onto Tang San's bed.

"Yo, Little San! Good morning! Still as diligent as ever, huh?"

"Mhm, it's just a habit after so many years."

Tang San nodded slightly, giving Ye Qiu a strange smile.

Honestly, he was starting to admire Ye Qiu a little.

Xiao Wu was still so young, yet he dared to…

Clearly, he had seen Xiao Wu curled up on Ye Qiu last night, sleeping soundly.

"Hehe! Ye Qiu!"

Fresh from washing up, Xiao Wu cheerfully bounced into the dormitory, waving at Ye Qiu with a bright smile.

When she looked in the mirror earlier, she realized her bruises had completely disappeared. It must have been Ye Qiu's doing last night!

Ye Qiu simply smiled at her, ignoring Tang San's weird gaze.

Noticing the dry, unappetizing food Tang San was eating, Ye Qiu suddenly felt a bit hungry himself.

He walked over to his bed, rummaged through his bag, and pulled out his own provisions before returning to sit beside Tang San. Holding out a green fruit, he offered, "Little San, want some?"

Tang San froze for a moment. That green hue seemed oddly aggressive to his eyes. He politely declined, shaking his head.

"No thanks, you can have it."

"Ye Qiu! If he doesn't want it, I'll take it! Give it to me!"

Xiao Wu suddenly leaped over, plopping down right beside Ye Qiu. She leaned against him, holding a slightly wilted carrot she had brought from home.

"If you want it, then here." Ye Qiu rolled his eyes and pushed the fruit toward her mouth.

"Yay! Thanks! Ahh~"

Xiao Wu beamed happily, opening her mouth obediently and biting into the fruit Ye Qiu offered.

"Ew? Why does this taste so weird?"

Her excited expression instantly turned sour. She took the fruit out of her mouth, stuck out her tongue, and frowned.

"Ye Qiu, is this rotten? Why is it so bitter?"

Tang San also glanced over curiously.

"Rotten? No way. It's a bitter melon. Of course, it's bitter."

Ye Qiu grinned mischievously before grabbing her hand and trying to feed it back to her.

"You better not throw it away! Bitter melon helps cool your body down. You ate too much spicy food, so this will help."

"Ugh…"

Xiao Wu recoiled in disgust, turning her head away. "You liar! You just like messing with me!"

Oh? Ye Qiu raised an eyebrow, amused. She actually figured it out?

"Xiao Wu, Ye Qiu is right. Bitter melon does help with cooling and detoxifying the body."

Tang San, convinced by Ye Qiu's explanation, chuckled and backed him up.

"Hear that? I'm doing this for your own good. Eat it all."

With his back to Tang San, Ye Qiu smirked.

That fruit was originally meant for Tang San, but hey, if this greedy rabbit wanted it, she could have it.

"Ughhh…"

Under Ye Qiu's watchful gaze, Xiao Wu whimpered pitifully, reluctantly lowering her head and taking another bite.

Tang San, watching her adorable reaction, couldn't help but smile.

At that moment, Wang Sheng walked over.

"Boss, Sister Xiao Wu, Third Brother, it's time for the entrance ceremony."

"Alright, let's go."

Tang San quickly finished his dry food and stood up.

As Ye Qiu and the others stepped out of the dormitory, the cool morning air was already giving way to the scorching midday sun.

The stone pavement beneath their feet grew hotter under the glaring sunlight.

As expected, no matter where you go, school administrators all love to ramble on endlessly.

Sitting under the shade, watching others bake under the sun, Ye Qiu couldn't help but sigh.

By the time the tedious, mind-numbing entrance ceremony finally ended around noon, everyone was utterly exhausted.

Ye Qiu, in particular, could barely keep going. The moment he stepped into the dorm, he collapsed onto his bed.

Xiao Wu followed suit.

"Ahh~ Xiao Wu is dying! I'm so hungry and tired… Ye Qiu, do you have more food?"

Ye Qiu lay motionless, completely ignoring her.

Not only was he sleep-deprived, but he hadn't eaten enough that morning either. His body felt weak.

Meanwhile, Tang San, backed by the power of the Mysterious Heaven Skill, was still full of energy. Seeing his dormmates sprawled out everywhere, he simply shook his head.

Wang Sheng, being older and possessing a Battle Tiger Martial Soul, had better physical endurance, so he was still in decent shape.

"Xiao Wu, if you're hungry, how about we head to the cafeteria?"

At the mention of food, Xiao Wu instantly perked up, her pitiful expression vanishing.

"Really?! What are we eating?!"

Wang Sheng and the others exchanged helpless smiles.

"We're just work-study students… What do you think we can afford? We haven't even started working yet. We'll just grab something cheap at the cafeteria."

Hearing this, Xiao Wu's face fell. She was completely broke.

She hesitated for a moment, then turned to Ye Qiu with pleading eyes.
