In Universe Nine, history diverged when Goku's pod was discovered by Cooler on his way from Planet Vegeta to Earth and was destroyed.
On Earth, Bulma went to Mount Paozu to find the Dragon Balls, and since Goku wasn't on Earth, his grandpa Gohan didn't die and met Bulma.
