Chapter 9 - Could QingXue already be...

Yang Fan smirked as he held up a small card with the word "Craftsman" written on it. "I have this!"

Yue raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "What is that card?"

He said "You'll know soon" and crushed the card in his fist. A surge of blue light burst forth, surrounding him completely.

"AAA!!!" he shouted, feeling the energy envelop him.

When the light faded, he returned to normal. He opened his fist and closed it again, grinning to himself. 'With the Craftsman profession and the ring, I won't die too easily this time!'

Yue leaned in curiously, tilting her head and inspecting him from different angles with her hands on her waist. "Hmm… you don't seem any different."

"You don't see the change with your naked eyes," he said confidently. "Let me show you."

He picked up his axe and thought to himself, 'With craftsmanship, I can build a strong team in this apocalypse and crush the Lian Tian base.'

Holding the axe in front of the girls, He took a deep breath, then muttered, "Craftsman Transformation!"

A massive translucent hammer materialized behind him. The axe in his hands melted, reshaping itself as if being reforged by an invisible smith. When the glow faded, the axe had transformed into a sleek, sharp sword.

Both girls gasped in awe. "Wow!"

Yang Fan smirked. "A Craftsman can transform any material into equipment."

To demonstrate further, he held a small stone in front of the sword. The hammer reappeared, and the stone melted, merging into the blade. Streaks of electricity crackled along its surface.

"Now this sword possesses the ability to paralyze enemies," he explained.

Both girls exchanged amazed looks.

Mu Yi hesitated before pulling out her scalpel. She held it up shyly. "Um...Can my scalpel be modified too?"

Yang Fan examined it and nodded. "Sure, I will add some more materials to make one knife for each of you."

He grabbed a discarded showerhead from the bathhouse floor. The giant hammer appeared once more, melting both the scalpel and showerhead into molten metal. Moments later, the metal reformed into two combat knives.

"Success," he said, handing them to Mu Yi and Yue.

"Try them out."

Mu Yi turned the knives over in her hands, her eyes wide with wonder. "This is unbelievable… forging without a furnace or tools...it's too unscientific!

Yue, meanwhile, eyed the evolution potion Yang Fan had given her earlier. She held the vial to her lips. "So, if we drink this… we'll awaken abilities?"

Yang Fan shook his head. "No, this first-order evolution potion only enhances your physical potential."

Mu Yi studied the potion, deep in thought. I'd love to analyze its composition in a lab… But she knew now wasn't the time for that. Strength was the priority. Without further hesitation, both girls drank the potion.

A blue aura surrounded them as their bodies absorbed the energy. They clenched their fists, feeling the power surging through them.

Mu Yi flexed her fingers. "Incredible… I feel full of energy."

Yue grinned. "I feel like I could take on a hundred zombies!"

Yang Fan sheathed his sword and motioned toward the door. "Let's go. Our next stop is the girls' dormitory. My sister, Yang Qingxue, is there."

They made their way outside, where Yang Fan spotted an abandoned car. A lone zombie was trapped inside, pounding against the window. Without hesitation, he yanked open the door, grabbed the zombie by the collar, and threw it onto the pavement.

"Get lost."

He turned to the girls. "You two, get in!"

They scrambled inside, and as soon as the doors shut, Yang Fan slammed the accelerator. The car roared forward, plowing through any zombies in its path.

Yue clung to the overhead handle, her knuckles white. "Do you really have to drive this fast?!"

Mu Yi, sitting in the back, gripped the seat in front of her. "Aren't you supposed to avoid obstacles?"

But Yang Fan's focus was elsewhere. 'Qingxue… I'm coming.'

They reached Dormitory Building #1, where dozens of zombies prowled outside.

"The zombies are following us!" Yue shouted.

Mu Yi nodded. "We need to block the stairs with the car!"

The moment the vehicle stopped, both girls jumped out and bolted for the building. Yue called out, "Yang Fan! What room is she in?"

"501!"

Yang Fan followed, running at full speed.

When they reached Room 501, the door was wide open.

A chill ran down Yue's spine. "This… doesn't feel right."

Mu Yi's gaze swept the room. "The door is open… that's not a good sign."

They stepped inside. The place was a wreck. Furniture was overturned. The windows were broken. The floor was littered with zombie corpses.

Yang Fan's heart pounded. "Qingxue…"

The girls looked around. Yue knelt, running her fingers across the scratched-up floorboards.

"There are… signs of a struggle here," she murmured. She looked up at him hesitantly. "Could your sister have already…?"
