Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I follow the needle on the compass and walk through the forest. I shudder a little at the cold wind passing me. How in the hell does anyone other than Nords survive in this cold place? I can see the sun above me, but the wind is so cold.

However, while walking, I noticed a movement that was not too far away from me. I raise my magic staff and think of something I need against any enemies coming at me.

Without even waiting for too long, I watch as a wolf springs out of the bush and tries to bite my neck. I move my magic staff, and a second later, two light spears appear in the air and pierce through the wolf.

I ignore the notification on the corner of my vision and point my staff to my left when I see a second wolf jump at me. I create a golden barrier around me, blocking the wolf from biting me. I release two more light spears and pierce through the wolf.

I do not have enough time to think before two more wolves jump on me. I slam the butt of my staff on the ground and release a wave of golden light that throws them away. A second later, I cast [Light Spears] once again, but this time, I did a chain cast to create the second pair of spears.

I release them and watch as they pierce through the wolves.

I prepare another barrier in case another wolf appears, but after a few seconds of waiting, I nod my head and look at the notification.

[Congratulations! You kill [Wood Wolf (Level: 1)]

[Congratulations! You kill [Wood Wolf (Level: 1)]

[Congratulations! You kill [Wood Wolf (Level: 1)]

[Congratulations! You Level Up!]

[Congratulations! You kill [Wood Wolf (Level: 1)]

I nod my head and open my status window.

[Name: Mattias Rehn]

[Stats Point: 10]

I do not get any increase in my stats, but I do get Stats Point every time I level up. Does that mean I need to train to increase my stats points? Well, I don't mind training.

I nod and look at the other notifications.

[You create a new skill! (Light Spears)]

[Light Spears] [Active] [Level: 3]

{Create spears made of light.}

Damage: 15 + (INT x 0.5) per spear

Number of Spear: 2

Special Effect: 200% Damage Bonus against Undead

Cost: 5 MP

Cooldown: 2 Seconds

Each time I cast this spell, it will cause 40 damage if all spears are hit. Does that mean the wolf has 40 HP? I don't know. I forget to use my [Observe] skill. I shake my head and look at the second spell I created.

[Light Barrier] [Active] [Level: 2]

{Create a barrier made of light around you to protect you and the people around you that lasts for 5 seconds}

Shield Health: 10 + (INT x 0.5)

Cost: 5 MP per second

Cooldown: 7 Seconds

It is the biggest mana consumption, but also great for protecting myself. The health needs a little bit of work, but it will go there when its level goes up. However, there is one thing that is missing from this.

I take a deep breath and imagine healing spells made of light. I watch as my hands glow in golden light, and I nod when the notification appears. I open the skill window and smile.

[Healing Light] [Active] [Level: 1]

{Use your light to heal yourself or your ally}

Healing: 5 + (INT x 0.3) per second

Cost: 3 MP per second

Not bad. 8 HP per second, and I can cast this for a whole minute. It is a great thing to have, especially when I don't have any potion just yet.

I shake my head and continue my journey. I don't know how far away the nearby settlement is. I hope it is not too far away. I don't want to camp on my first day in this world.

3rd POV

Alvor grits his teeth as he pushes the charging bandits using his shield.

"Die, you bastard!"

With a roar, he thrust his sword at the Breton in front of him. He watches as the blood pours out of his body with satisfaction, but he cannot enjoy his victory just yet as another bandit charges at him.

Bandits are a problem in Skyrim. However, it got worse after the Civil War started. Riverwood became their target because the Jarl only sent a dozen guards to their village. That is why all able men need to work as guards for their village when bandits or wildlife attack them.

"Die!"

He roars once again and stabs the Khajiit in front of him while ignoring the pain in his stomach from the stab wound the Khajiit did to him. He is about to rest and take care of his wound but stops when he sees a golden light behind the bandits.

Alvor sees a young man standing on a boulder with a magic staff in his hand. This man is Mattias.

"Chain Cast! Light Spears!"

He watches as a hail of spears made of light appears in the air and stabs all the bandits. He chugs healing potions and roars.

"Kill them while they are distracted!"

Seeing their chance, he and the others charge forward and kill the bandit while they are distracted by the person casting that magic. He does not like magic, but he is thankful for anyone who decides to help them.

The bandits panic at the unexpected attack from their back and slowly lose. After a few minutes of fighting, their leader ordered them to retreat.

However, before he can get too far away, Mattias points his staff at the bandit leader. He pushes the remaining of his mana into this attack and creates a new spell. A big ball of golden light appears and flies toward the bandit leader at a high speed. When it hit the leader, it exploded.

"ARGH"

Seeing the bandit leader still alive, Mattias creates two more light spears and stabs the man in the head and neck. Like any bandit, they do not care about their leader and continue running away.

Alvor and the others look at the bandit leader for a second, checking if he is dead. When they confirm he is dead, they release a roar of victory.

Alvor looks to the side and smiles a little at Mattias, who walks toward them.

"Thank you for the help, my friend!"

Mattias smiles and says.

"Already a friend, are we?"

"Of course! Anyone who helps us will be our friend!"

"I am just glad I am not too late."

"Me too, my friend. Me too. The name is Alvor of Riverwood! What's yours?"

"Mattias of Bruma."

"Bruma, aye? Is that why you are using magic instead of steel?"

"Aye. My Ma is Imperial, and my Da is Nord. I want to visit my Fatherland, but it looks like I arrived at a bad time."

Alvor nods his head sadly and says.

"Aye. Skyrim is a chaotic place at the moment, my friend. Civil War is happening, and bandits are roaming freely. What makes matters worse… We have dragons terrorizing the land once again."

Mattias holds back the urge to curse as he learns that Alduin is on the loose.

"Is the rumor true?"

"Sadly, it is true. However, we already have someone who will take care of it! We heard that the Dragonborn already killed her first dragon in Whiterun. She will take care of the dragon problem."

Mattias nods his head and takes note that the Dragonborn is a woman.

"Anyway! We should get inside. We need to burn all the bodies. After that? We will have a feast!"
