Chapter 5 - Rebirth (part four) - Heroes to the Core

Stormer was undisputedly the finest warrior within the Hero Factory, though his ascent to the esteemed Alpha Team had been fraught with difficulty. The core members of the team—Furno, Breeze, Surge, Rocka, Stringer, and Bulk—had long served as its unshakable foundation. Yet a recent tragedy had shattered their unity: Evo, a stalwart companion for eight years, had perished under mysterious circumstances, his fate still unknown. The only evidence of his demise was a cryptic videotape depicting a white figure wreaking havoc at a Checkpoint recently assigned to Evo in the desolate central desert of Spherus Magna.

The Checkpoints were isolated fortresses where both scientists and Hero soldiers resided, tasked with safeguarding valuable discoveries and maintaining vital records. Over the years, Spherus Magna had become an object of intense scrutiny for Makuro, the founder and wise chief of the Hero Factory, though his motives for fixating on the planet remained shrouded in secrecy. Even Stormer, entrusted with the most guarded information, remained in the dark regarding his creator's true intentions.

The Hero Factory, it seemed, was not simply a bastion for creating defenders and banishing villains. There was another, darker purpose hidden beneath the surface. From their very inception, the Hero soldiers were tasked with a singular mission: to seek out remnants of the elusive Quaza. This primal energy source, which once coursed through a singular planet before a catastrophic explosion shattered it into countless fragments scattered across the galaxy, had become the cornerstone of Makuro's new creation. With time, the Hero Factory's name had spread across planets, its influence growing with each new discovery.

One morning, in Makuhero City, Stormer made his way to Makuro's office, expecting a discussion on diplomatic alliances or perhaps strategy concerning the war against the Croxars—an alien species from the distant planet Korayr. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn. Makuro, his tone colder than ever, pressed Stormer on the occupation of Planet 1210: Spherus Magna. This subject had lingered in Makuro's mind for months, often resurfacing in conversation, but today it took on an ominous gravity. The true nature of the meeting was revealed when Makuro, with an unsettling calm, showed Stormer a peculiar symbol—the Ignika. It was clear now: Makuro sought a dialogue with the Order of Mata Nui.

The Heroes, long known for their peaceful and protective nature, had forged alliances with countless civilizations, aiding them in times of strife. Their power was renowned across the galaxy, and Makuro, seemingly well-versed in the ancient art of Biomechanics, had sought to replicate the elemental powers within his own creations. He had even succeeded in creating a final prototype—the Ultimate Armor—which would soon be ready for testing.

Stormer, torn by uncertainty, hesitated to embark on the mission alone. Spherus Magna was an unknown territory, a realm where danger lurked in every shadow. Reluctantly, he chose to venture with Stringer and other seasoned units to the conquered regions near Tesara's dense jungle. There, they would scour the area's numerous Checkpoints, with Stormer preparing to be the first to test the Ultimate Armor in the field. For years, the Hero Factory had refined its strategies, learning from every battle fought, every creature encountered. The data collected from these encounters, particularly with the Biomechanics, was invaluable. Makuro had made it clear: understanding how to counter their attacks in case of unforeseen conflict was paramount.

And so, Stormer's journey began in Tesara, a land steeped in mystery, where the levels of Protodermis were unusually high. It was no coincidence that the carcass of the Great Spirit Robot lay buried beneath its surface. Before his departure, Stormer was intercepted by Nex, who pleaded to join the mission. Seen as a rising star, Nex's potential had long been noted by the veterans, and Stormer knew this would be the moment for him to prove his worth.

"Permission granted, kid." Stormer replied, his voice heavy with the weight of the task ahead.

For those left behind in Makuhero City, Planet 1210 was a place of legend. Initially, the mission was entrusted to the elite Recon Team, a hundred of the finest soldiers, under the leadership of Merrick Fortis, renowned for his heroic feats. Fortis and his team, which included Rocka, had departed not many years ago, establishing a Checkpoint at the heart of Bara Magna's vast wilderness. Over time, more Hero units were dispatched, and after decades, the Skrall River Headquarters was established, along with the first meetigns with the local population. When the region was finally secured, Fortis and his soldiers withdrew, leaving behind only whispers of their triumphs.

The hour of departure had arrived. In just eighteen hours, the three Heroes would land on Planet 1210, where a waiting patrol would escort them to the Checkpoint—a place that promised both answers and dangers far beyond their imagining.
