Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 "Dinner Time, Dinner Time"

After repeating the same tactic several times,

Chen Mang's control became increasingly fluid. As several train carriages were rendered useless, all the ambulatory limbs of the mountain-like spider were severed at the root. Its massive body collapsed onto the wasteland, completely immobilized, like a lamb awaiting slaughter.

"Finally, it's dinner time."

Inside the train compartment,

Chen Mang let out a light sigh before reconnecting several carriages that had been abandoned nearby to the train engine. He then slowly maneuvered the train closer to the enormous spider.

Circling around to its rear,

Chen Mang noted that the spider shot its silk from its abdomen, and its head, with its menacing mouth, looked quite aggressive. Attacking from the rear seemed the safest option.

However,

his Car Blade was only 70 centimeters wide, while the spider stood over ten meters tall, roughly the height of a four-story building. Even though it was now immobile and had lost most of its means of attack, killing it was still a daunting task.

Even if the train pressed right up against the spider's rear, it would only leave a 70-centimeter-deep wound, which, given the spider's size, was far from fatal.

But it didn't matter.

Chen Mang glanced around and finally understood why the wasteland had been so quiet these past few days. It must have been this creature's presence that scared off all the nearby monsters. For now, it seemed unlikely that anyone or anything would pass by, giving him plenty of time to work slowly.

"Screech!"

With a sharp tearing sound, Chen Mang maneuvered the train back and forth behind the spider's rear. But no matter how many times he passed by, it only left a 70-centimeter-deep wound in the same spot, far from lethal.

Half an hour later.

"..."

Chen Mang stepped out of the train compartment with an expressionless face, standing on the wasteland as he gazed at the mountain-like spider king. The spider's mobility was completely gone, and it had virtually no means of attack left.

But...

Here was this pristine boss just lying there, yet he couldn't do anything about it. He couldn't kill it. The spider's robust, agonized roars indicated that it was still far from death.

Yes, that's right.

The level 5 Car Blade could break through its defenses due to the level advantage, but it was only a white-grade vehicle component. Its power was limited, and the blade was only 70 centimeters wide. Even if he upgraded it a few levels, increasing it to a meter, it would still be useless.

It still couldn't kill this spider.

"What do we do now?"

Lao Zhu, standing nearby, looked at the scene, equally at a loss. This was completely beyond his understanding. According to his experience, a level 2 train encountering a level 3 leader like the Man-Eating Spider should have fled. Achieving this much was already impressive.

But now, there was clearly an opportunity to kill it. This boss was sure to drop valuable loot. Yet, even though the boss wasn't fighting back, they still had no way to finish it off.

"Sigh."

Chen Mang let out a light sigh, massaging his temples as he pondered in silence. If only he had a level 5 Automatic Cannon now. A few minutes of bombardment, and he was sure the spider wouldn't survive.

Leaving now would be such a waste.

"Lord Mang!"

At that moment, Biao Zi proposed an idea, hesitantly saying, "Could we remove the Car Blade? It would be much easier to use that way."

"No."

Chen Mang shook his head, rejecting the suggestion. The Car Blade's high-speed rotation was powered by the Energy Stone in the train engine. Once disconnected from the engine, it would lose its energy supply and stop spinning shortly after.

Moreover, although the Car Blade's main body was in the train engine, every carriage produced would come with its own Car Blade. However, it couldn't be removed. Forcibly detaching it would cause it to shatter into countless fragments, rendering it useless.

Wait—

Suddenly, he thought of a solution. His furrowed brows immediately relaxed as he strode back into the train compartment and produced another carriage. After disconnecting it, he summoned all the Slaves down.

With nearly a hundred people working together, they quickly forcibly removed the Car Blades from both sides of the carriage.

The removed Car Blades instantly shattered into countless gleaming fragments.

And there!

With just 100 units of Iron Ore, he had obtained nearly a hundred steel fragments capable of breaking through the defenses of a level 3 leader like the Man-Eating Spider. Though small compared to the four-story-tall spider, their sheer number made up for it.

Lao Zhu and Biao Zi immediately understood Chen Mang's plan. After distributing the steel fragments to the Slaves, at Chen Mang's command, all the Slaves charged at the spider's rear, clanging away with their fragments.

Yes.

They were chiseling.

The scene looked like a mining operation, as nearly a hundred Slaves appeared minuscule in front of the Man-Eating Spider. The enforcers didn't slack off either, with Biao Zi and Lao Zhu both rolling up their sleeves and joining in.

An hour later.

Sitting atop the train, Chen Mang watched the chaotic scene in the distance and sighed helplessly, "Killing this boss is such a pain."

After an hour of chiseling, they had made significant progress, carving out a large gap in the spider's rear.

The ground was covered in sticky blood and minced flesh, and everyone's clothes were drenched in filth. A foul stench hung over the entire wasteland.

After who knows how long,

The sky had brightened. Chen Mang, sitting atop the train with eyelids drooping, finally snapped awake as the persistent roars in his ears gradually weakened and then disappeared. The Man-Eating Spider, with half its body hollowed out, finally collapsed completely onto the wasteland.

At the moment it fell, several glowing orbs flew out from its back, landing on a clean patch of the wasteland.

"Not easy!"

Chen Mang jumped down from the train and didn't immediately head for the dropped items. Instead, he turned to Lao Zhu and Biao Zi, "Find a few people to collect some of the blood in buckets. Pour it into the Purified Water Filter and get some water for everyone to wash up."

"Got it... Thank you, Lord Mang."

Biao Zi's voice trembled as he straightened his aching back, barely managing to move his neck. It had been exhausting, but the result was worth it. Of course, the Slaves had it the hardest.

They had been mining all day and then spent the whole night swinging away.

After it was all over, many Slaves collapsed on the spot, too tired to even crawl back into the carriages.

Though the process was arduous, the outcome was good. Most importantly, no one had disturbed them throughout the night, or they would have had to abandon this massive prize and flee.

"Dinner time, dinner time..."

Chen Mang's eyes sparkled with anticipation as he strode toward the glowing orbs on the empty patch of wasteland. These items were likely the boss's drops. He hoped they would make up for the resources he had spent.

He had lost six carriages, costing him a total of 600 units of Iron Ore.
