Chapter 7 - Darkness

It was a really long journey. Especially with the road we went by. It was a bumpy road, so I practically went flying.

Meanwhile Kairos had a good time sleeping. Seriously? How the hell could he sleep when the entire carriage was shaking?

Food wasn't hard finding and we had more than enough money for it.

Though I probably got a little motion sickness. Thankfully, Sera had packed medicine for us and that came in use.

It was kind of hard to blend in public. Probably because we had cloaks over our heads and looked like assassins or something. But if I removed it, it would be even more weird since I was and looked like Princess Lira.

(Technically I am Princess Lira? I don't know, this entire thing is confusing.)

We finally made it to Stars. I could see why it got the name like that. During the night you could see very bright stars. The city lights also looked like them. It was beautiful.

The next day we went to search for the Relic.

You'd think finding the relic would be pretty hard.

It was pretty easy.

The relic was in the center on the city. Kairos told me it was the relic as soon as he saw it. It was sword. A beautiful one. The handle made of gold with a singular red stone. Kairos said that stone was to identify the owner or the one who made it. The blade still looked sharp. It hasn't rusted.

Many people tried to take the sword. It said on the plate of the pedestal:

Can only be taken by the chosen one

So I'm guessing the people wanted the glory of being the chosen one. Mother was right. These people only wanted power.

I watched as multiple people went to take the sword. They all had the same results. Their eyes turned black or a couple of seconds, then after a while a gold aura pushed them away from the sword.

"Shall we go?" Kairos looked amused seeing the people trying.

I nodded.

We walked to the center circle where everyone gathered to try their luck. Someone could make serious profit out of this if they wanted.

Try your luck to be the chosen one! Only 10 silver!

Then again I don't think Sera would be too happy with that.

"I've been waiting for you young lady." A voice behind me startled me.

I turned around to see a man, that was a bit taller than me. Tanned skin that shone in the Sun and blonde hair. Beautiful amethyst eyes.

He smirked. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Serophose. You may already know my twin."

Twin?

He did look like the male version of Seraphine...

WTF?

I looked over at him. Sera never told me she had a twin brother.

He smiled at me with his teeth. He reminded me of something. A dog.

I looked over to Kairos. He looked unfazed as if he knew.

Piece of shit didn't tell me. What else have I been missing out on?

"Let's go shall we?" He lead us to the pedestal.

We went to the pedestal. Many people were giving us glares. Others scoffed at us, probably thinking that we wouldn't be able to take the relic and fail like the others. But I think most of the looks was because we were in cloaks.

I took of the hood and there were a lot of whispering.

"All you have to do is touch it." Serophose said.

That's it? Just touch it?

I looked at Kairos, he nodded.

I touched the sword, wrapping my hand around the handle.

Everything went black. It was only me in a dark place.

I heard footsteps.

"Who's there?" My voice echoed.

The footsteps approached faster and my heart pounded. Who was there? I held the sword in defense.

"Who's there?" I asked again.

"Boo!" A person suddenly appeared behind me.

I flinched back, startled, my heart racing.

I looked behind and the person was gone.

"In front of you" It was a women's voice.

I turned front and there she was a foot in front of me. I couldn't see her properly because of the darkness.

She laughed, wiping her tears from her eyes with her finger.

I looked closer to who the person was.

She was barely visible, yet she looked very familiar.

She looked like she was in her mid 20s. Neutral skin, brown wavy hair till her upper back. Freckles barely visible. Her eyes were amber and looked like it was a foxes. She's a bit taller than me.

Her smile was mischievous and you could tell she was evil. Her canines sharp, like a vampire.

"Cat got your tongue?" she moved closer to me until our faces were barely inches apart.

She had this aura around her that could make you scared.

I held the sword to the side of her neck, as if threatening to behead her.

"I wouldn't do that, if I were you." She grinned.

I felt a sharp blade at the side of my neck. My eyes darted to the side to check. It was the same sword. How was that possible? I had it. How did she have it?

"How-" I couldn't finish my sentence. Something prevented me to do so. Like acid burning inside my throat.

"Too bad I can't kill you." She sighed. "But I just want to kill this part of you. This part that makes you think you can save everybody." She sneered at me. Like I was something she really despises.

I tried to speak again. What does she mean by that? This part of me?

"Ah, right. You can't speak. Let me fix that." She snapped her fingers.

"Who areyou?" My breath was ragged.

The women stepped back.

"You already know the answer to that? How could you not recognize me? It hurts,Lira." she smiled and feigned an act to look hurt.

Now I know why she looked so familiar.

My head spinned. How was this possible? I looked at her confused.

"This isn't possible." My voice filled with fear.

"You out of everyone should know anything is possible."

She was...

Me?
