Sean ignored Lucio and Matthew's chatter, lost in his plans. A Sanctuary warrior lives 500 years? If I achieve that… His eyes lit with ambition. I could witness this world's industrial revolution—and maybe even play Hearthstone again!
Meanwhile, Lucio and Matthew hunted. They returned with Pheasant, hare, and a small wild boar. Matthew instructed Lucio: "The key is grease. Use douqi to melt the fat and baste the meat."
"douqi for grilling?" Lucio marveled.
"Exactly. And a splash of wine would elevate it— Alas,no wine on campaign."
…
Windsor nudged Sean. "They're back. Time to eat, Your Highness."
Sean joined them, watching Matthew prepare the boar leg. "Windsor, fetch the spices from the carriage."
Matthew's eyes lit. "Spices? Perfect!"
But Sean intercepted the jars. "Your technique needs improve. Let me demonstrate."
Matthew frowned. "You know grilling?"
"Court chef secrets," Sean lied. "Trust me."
…
Sean directs Matthew:
Split the leg to avoid raw spots.Pound ginger - like and chili - like herbs into paste.Mix with oil and wine.Baste during the final roasting.
The aroma exploded. soldiers crowded around, drooling. Even the kitten perked up.
Lucio bit into the boar leg. "By the Light—this is divine level!"
Matthew nodded reluctantly. "Your 'court recipe'… it works."
Sean smirked. Some things transcend worlds.
