Hearing Emma's cry for help, Steven instinctively reached out and pulled her back.
He held her in his arms as she clung tightly to his neck, panting heavily out of apparent fear.
Gently patting her back, Steven felt puzzled.
“What happened? Don't you love swimming the most? Why do you look…”
‘So afraid of water?’
Emma composed herself, realizing she had almost exposed her identity. Her eyes darted around, and she said, “Daddy, I haven’t felt like swimming recently; the water is too cold.”
Steven glanced at the pool and turned to carry Emma back to the room.
As they passed Zane, he instructed, “Empty the pool.”
Zane replied, “Alright.”
Not long after, a group of people suddenly trespassed into the Lawrence family’s yard. They were led by Steven’s uncle, Nathan, along with a few other Lawrence family branches.
However, Nathan’s son, Tony Lawrence, spoke up first.
