Chapter 57 - Love You Forever

After a brief silence, Mo Xiuchen spoke in a gentle tone, "Call me when you're on your way back."

"There's no need. Sister Li will drive me home."

Before Wen Ran could finish her sentence, a familiar and excited voice suddenly called out from behind her, "Ranran!"

Her eyes widened in surprise. Turning around, she saw Mo Zixuan standing just a few steps away, gazing at her with intense emotion.

As their eyes met, she quickly averted her gaze, lowering her head to check her phone—only to find that the call had already been disconnected.

Wen Ran frowned slightly, staring at her screen for a couple of seconds. She wasn't sure if Mo Xiuchen had heard Mo Zixuan's voice just now, and if he had, would he misunderstand?

Pushing aside the thought, she ignored Mo Zixuan and turned to leave.

"Ranran, wait a moment!"

Seeing her walk away, Mo Zixuan's face changed, and he quickly stepped forward, his tone filled with urgency. "Ranran, I won't force you to do anything you don't want to. I just want to say a couple of things to you."

In the parking lot, Sister Li stood by the car, watching them from a dozen meters away, debating whether she should step in.

Wen Ran stopped in her tracks and looked at him with cold, detached eyes. "There's nothing for us to talk about."

"Ranran, I know you hate me. I hate myself too. I was too impulsive last time, and I owe you an apology. It was my fault."

Pain flickered in Mo Zixuan's eyes. He took a step closer, spreading his arms to block her path, but this time, he didn't dare to reach out and grab her like before.

Instead, he just stared at her intently, every emotion laid bare on his handsome face.

Wen Ran hesitated for a moment. Looking at the guilt and sorrow in his expression, memories of the good times they once shared surfaced. Pressing her lips together, she softened her tone slightly and said, "If you truly feel sorry, then don't disturb me again."

"Ranran!"

Mo Zixuan's voice carried deep bitterness, his eyes filled with pain.

"From now on, call me Wen Ran. I don't want anyone to misunderstand."

Her gaze remained indifferent, devoid of the warmth and gentleness it once held for him.

Mo Zixuan clenched his teeth and said with determination, "Ranran, I promise I won't disturb you again, and I won't call you that anymore. But I will find out who set me up with Zhou Lin that night. You deserve to know the truth. The only woman I have ever loved is you, and I will wait for the day you forgive me."

Wen Ran's expression changed slightly. She didn't want Mo Zixuan to keep clinging to the past. Whether he had been framed or had made a mistake of his own accord, it no longer mattered. They had nothing to do with each other anymore.

"There's no need for this."

Her lips pressed into a thin line, her voice cool and detached.

Mo Zixuan had always been gentle and easygoing in front of her, rarely showing anger. But now, his expression was serious—even resolute. "From the moment I fell in love with you, I swore I would love you for a lifetime. Ranran, whether you believe me or not, I must tell you this—Mo Xiuchen didn't marry you out of love. He only did it to get back at me. You absolutely cannot fall for him!"

A trace of coldness flickered across Wen Ran's face. Even if there was no love between her and Mo Xiuchen, she had promised to treat him well and regard him as family. She would not allow Mo Zixuan to slander him.

With a firm tone, she countered, "Mo Xiuchen helped me when I needed it the most. We didn't even know each other before, so there was no prior connection. As for whatever grudges exist between you two, I don't know, and I don't want to know. But he is my husband now. So next time, don't speak ill of him in front of me—your words mean nothing to me."
