Kazuki's lungs were on fire, his legs ached wobbling and stumbling but he pushed along sprinting through the dense forest. Branches lashed out at his face and arms, blocking him, but he refused to surrender. The hydra behind him crashed through the trees, rooting up branches and trees with it like snapping match sticks.
[WARNING: Large Predatory Creature in Pursuit.]
"NO KIDDING!" Kazuki shouted between gasps.
The ground trembled as hydras head surged forward like a reptile, darting between the trees, snaping at him. Kazuki barely twisted out of the way, tumbling over the fallen log and steadying himself.
His mind raced. He had no weapons, no stamina, and absolutely no desire to become a multi-headed lizard's lunch.
Then, his system pinged.
[Exploding Chicken Summon is available!]
Kazuki's eyes widened. "Wait… WAIT! That might actually work!"
He slammed the summon button without hesitation, beside him a burst of light glimmered, materializing a very unstable and confused looking chicken.
"Hey, buddy, long time no see!" Kazuki snatched the bird up, cradling it in his arms like a live grenade. "I need you to do your thing, okay? Just, uh, sooner rather than later."
The chicken clucked his head to the side and blinked. Then from it's neck a yellow light began to glow ominously.
Kazuki grinned through the panic. "Thats the spirit!!!"
A deafening roar tore through the air. One of the hydra's heads lunged again—just as Kazuki hurled the chicken straight into its open mouth.
BOOM!
The explosion rocked the forest. The hydra screeched, its damaged head recoiling as smoke billowed from its jaws. It thrashed violently, crashing into trees and kicking up a cloud of debris.
Kazuki didn't stick around to see the aftermath. He bolted.
His system pinged again.
[EXP Gained!]
[New Title Unlocked: Bird Bomber]
"Not now, system!" Kazuki wheezed.
Way ahead the forest thinned, the trees become scarce as the they gave away to faint outline of stone structures—ruins, half buried under moss and spines. His heart leapt.
Shelter. Maybe even a hiding spot.
Kazuki sprinted toward the ruins, his chest burning with exhaustion. He could hear the hydra recovering behind him, snarling with renewed fury. It roared as if declaring promise for the vengeance...
Kazuki ducked under the crumbled archway, sliding behind a weathered stone pillar with his back to the cold wall, his breath came in ragged gasps. The ruins-stretched ahead, a labyrinth of broken walls and collapsed ceilings. He joined his had and prayed to chicken god that least hydra forgot about him and decide against coming here...
A loud crash shook the earth.
Kazuki peeked around the pillar.
The hydra had arrived.
And it was pissed.
Its massive form loomed at the edge of the ruins, all its heads weaving and snapping, searching for him. Its glowing eyes narrowed as it sniffed the air.
Hydra knew he was close.
Kazuki swallowed hard. "Well… this sucks."
Kazuki crouched behind a crumbling pillar, barely daring to breathe as the hydra's heads smashed through the ruins. The beast hissed and snarled, sending dust and debris flying as it searched for him.
A chunk of stone the size of a carriage wheel crashed to the ground a few feet away. Kazuki flinched. He had seconds before the hydra sniffed him out again.
"Okay, okay—think!" He fumbled to open his system menu, fingers shaking.

Kazuki's eyes darted over his system menu, desperate for anything useful. His heart pounded as the hydra's claws scraped against stone, its many heads weaving through the ruins, sniffing him out. He had seconds.
[Skill: Brute Strength!: E] – Useless. He wasn't wrestling a hydra.
[Skill: Exploding Chicken Summon: D] – On cooldown. No more feathery nukes.
His fingers hesitated over the [Class Available] option. Could he unlock something now? Would it even help? The hydra let out a low, rattling growl, its heads snapping toward his hiding spot.
Kazuki didn't think. He tapped the option.
[Class Selection: Available]

The menu flickered.

His system had already thrown exploding chickens at him—this was probably more of the same insanity. But right now, he needed anything.
He selected it.
[Class Selected: Avian Apostle]
For a moment, nothing happened. Then—
A loud clucking sound echoed through the ruins.
Kazuki felt an absurd warmth spread through his body, like he had just been wrapped in the world's fluffiest feathered embrace. His system pinged again.
[Skill Unlocked: Feathered Footwork (D)]
[Skill Unlocked: Egg Bomb (C)]
[Skill Unlocked: Call of the Flock (C)]
Kazuki's eye twitched.
"...You have got to be kidding me."
A low, rumbling growl snapped his attention back to reality—the hydra had shaken off its daze, its golden eyes locking onto him again.
Kazuki swallowed hard.
Alright. Chicken powers or not—he had to make this work.
He activated Feathered Footwork.
His legs blurred.
One moment, he was standing still. The next, he zipped sideways in an unnatural burst of speed, his movements feather-light. The hydra's head lunged—but Kazuki was already gone, skidding behind another ruined pillar.
"Whoa."
No time to process. The hydra roared, smashing through the ruins after him.
Kazuki activated Egg Bomb.
A glowing, pulsing egg materialized in his hands.
"...What."
No time to think. He chucked it.
The egg exploded on impact, sending a shockwave through the ruins. The hydra screeched as the blast hit one of its heads, sending it crashing into the ground. Dust and debris filled the air.
Kazuki gawked. "What."
His system chimed one last time.
[New Title Unlocked: The Eggsecutor]
Kazuki groaned.
This was definitely his life now.
