Chapter 4 - 4 Helpful child

A sunny morning it was, as the People began to open up their shops. The adults with their child by their side as they taught them how to haggle. Quite the lively seen.

Oh, and there was the good man Pou. Getting beaten up by his wife again for cheating on her with his horse for the 3rd time.

'Which is weird if you think about it, you have a beautiful wife... And you go for the horse.' how horrible would his wife have to be if he wanted a... Horse of all things.

These were the thoughts of Ernest, as he was fixing an Elemental Converter Spell Card.

Aunt Chillie wanted water after all, so she went to the good old Converter Well.

She discovered something horrifying.

'Okay not horrifying but you get the deal.' the water converter was broken. So Ernest was called to fix it.

A few strokes later, including a few adjustments for improved efficiency and durability, it was all set and repaired.

Looking for the woman, Ernest patted his hands. "Aunt Chillie, the Water Converter is fixed."

Aunt Chillie tested out the Converter. Suddenly, a feeling of pulling emerged. As invisible energy began to be sucked up by the Spell Card.

drip, Water began to pour out the Card.

"Ernie, You really helped me this time, Thank you!" She gave a wink with a thumbs up. Before going back to her job.

Ernest waved goodbye to her. She wasnt the only one he helped. Afterall, people had Card problems all the time.

Sure, creating a good seal would mean strong durability, But misusage of the seal could decrease its lifespan.

Fixing a Stasis SpellCard was his next task. The SpellCard that was stuffed with meat had apperantly rotten. So needed to get the Card checked.

'seems like the Field Code failed.' the meat had rotten due to the decrease of range in the Spell Card.

It was an easy fix, a quick Invertion of the Card and remaking the Spell Card with A better radius and inversion of the meats rotting process and were done.

"Thanks for fixing it Ernest, helped me save a Buck." The old man who had a bow and quiver filled with arrows behind his back thanked Ernie.

"No problem Senior Alan, it was a simple tweak." Ernie waved off the mans thanks, it was just a stasis Card afterall.

The old man patted the young boys back and laughed.

"Something simple you say? Ive seen my fair share you know. If that was simple, then thanks for performing something simple in an extraordinary way!"

Ernest continued his walk, waving the old man goodbye.

"By the Grace of the Emperor! The carriage broke down." Ernie twisted his head towards the mans direction.

He dressed in quite the formal robe, with the most prominent design being a 5 clawed out area. With a small brown emblem on his chest area.

"Whats wrong sir?" Ernie looked at the broken carriage. It was quite glamorous. With intricate designs of gold and red.

The wooden carvings of dragons with balls inside their mouths seemed to hold a menacing aura.

'From Spell Cards probably.'

"Oh, Greetings boy, Im afraid my carriage back wheels have broken off. Perhaps you know a fellow who could help repair this?"

'Hes clearly someone of high authority, Yeahhh... I should probably stay respectful unless I want a repeat of the past.' Ernie shuddered inwardly.

"Well, Im quite proficient in SpellCards, please allow me an attempt at fixing your ride." He bowed slightly.

sigh, oh great, its one of these young Card creators. "Boy forgive me, but the SpellCards crafted for my l-, this carriage, is of a product from a highly skilled Card Master." He left it at that, as if he had explained it all.

"Dont worry mister, I guarantee you I can fix it quickly."

Hes arrogant, quite annoying, fine then. Dont say I didnt warn you young soul. "As you wish." He stepped aside, allowing Ernie to have a view of the spellcards.

"Have a go, but be warned, should you mess up this carriage. Im afraid I cant allow you to leave without punishment."

'My god do Nobles talk a lot, just let me do my job already!' He kept his smile as he approached the Carriage.

Having a view of the SpellCards, he scoffed inwardly.

'Card Masters my grass, these are intermediate Spell Cards.'

The SpellCards in question, was a Converter Card, Ignition field card, and a amplification card.

Elemental converter card created water, Ignition card boiled water, going to what seems to be an earlier version of the steam engine, then amplified by a amplification card.

With a few swift strokes, along with adding more SpellCards to add durability and protection. He finished the process with a simple Illusion card. Hiding the intricate SpellCards.

"Done." He said, activated the machine to check if it worked. That it did.

The Noble man looked in shock at what he witnessed.

'What! Even a group of Card Masters took a few hours to complete these SpellCards. This boy is saying he finished it in 4 minutes?!'

"Wait a moment, how should I know what you created arent faulty? Tell me." Probing the boy, trying to see if he could gather some form of background form him.

As Ernest was about to answer. The carriage door was opened. A girl who wore clothes even more extravegant than the Noble man came out yawning. Her red hair sparkled at the touch of light. She had yellow eyes and a petite body. Her age looked to be around 11-13.

"Mr. Fei, whats taking so long.?" The young girl looked at Fei with a questioning look.

"Ah, My lady, The carriage had a small problem. Dont worry, for the boy..." He looked at Ernest.

"Boy, whats your name?"

"My name? Its Ernest." Ernie wanted to get this done with. If he'd known this noble was such a nosey person, he wouldnt have showed his capability.

"Ernest, this young man Ernest helped fix it. Please head back in my lady, were going to continue now."

Fei said it in a convincing tone, yet in his kind. He mentally noted Ernest name, he'd hire a person or two to dig up information on this boy.

"Oh, okay, thank you random kid!" she waved lazily, before going back in.

'random kid? I literally just introduced myself.' He waved with a twitching smile.

The carriage began to move, onward to wherever their headed too.

"sigh, moving on I guess."

He started walking home, his good mood slightly crooked from the noble interaction.

Arriving at his room, he looked at the worked he had accomplished.

He finally got the Object Collision to feel, just right.

He was about to finish his newest project, a simple game you could say. Its just a parkour simulator of sort.

Well, he was basically done. There were 3 different maps he had coded. Each around with a 1 kilometer Area.

Right now he was attempting something for the very first time, an NPC.

Basically, the NPCs job was to catch the User. Making a tag mode.

He wanted to code multiple NPCs, and he thought different abilities would be cool.

Any how, hes basically designed moving platforms and obstacles.

Which was only a little complicated. Once he figured out Range, Patrol and Return code he quickly got the hang of it.

He was writing lines of code for NPC behavior when suddenly he heard a knock on his door. He sighed knowing what was to come.

"Ernie, were continuing our calligraphy lessons." His fathers voice was behind the door.

With a simple storage Card, he hid all his work before yelling "Come in."

The door opened, Lynn saw his 13 year old boy. It felt like it was just yesterday when his boy was still learning Spell Cards.

"Ernie, your room is so empty. Arent you afraid of being seen as boring by the girls?" Lynn, ever the opportunist, decided to tease his son.

"And why would I need to entertain the girls? Im too busy making my own Card Structures to focus on kids that dont know how to add and subtract." Ernie huffed.

Lynn was kind off regretting his actions now. It seemed like he wasnt getting any grandchildren till he was dead. Maybe he should become an Immortal just so he can have a chance to see a budding romance for his kid.

"Come on Ernie, enough with the Card talks, lets start writing." And they began their calligraphy lessons once more.

Ernest lazily wrote down onto the paper, his writing god better. It was readable but still not on a level of writing it smoothly.

Lynn watched his son writing, he couldnt be more grateful for the Gods above.

Having a son like Ernie, he was a genius ofcourse, however he was more grateful for the virtuousness of his son.

Helping all those in need, be it elder or the young. From what he heard from his customers of local neighbors. His child had been teaching their children about morals and virtue through story telling.

He also helped repair broken Spell Cards for free of charge. He couldnt help but smile and pat his sons head for all his good deeds.

"Father." Lynn froze at the tone, calling him anything but dad usually meant his sons annoyance.

"Yes Ernie?"

"Would you mind, not startling me when im focused." A visible tick mark was on Ernest forehead. He hated being brought out of his concentration.

"Ah, sorry my dear son, but you were so cute I just had to." Lynn pinched Ernies cheek and pulled.

A brush to the face was what greeted him, although he had to be thankful to his son for using a clean one.

After a few hours, the calligraphy lessons were done for the day. Ernie still had a few hours left.

Deciding on taking a break from coding. He tried his newly created Parkour Game. He needed to name it since there was no way hes just calling it parkour game.

The first level consisted of a few spaced out building blocks. The goal was jumping through the rooftops without Qi.

Which was a bit challanging but doable for Ernest. Though he almost did a number 1 from the height of the buildings.

'gotta get used to that.' he shivered.

The next stages slowly added a few obstacles. Like high walls, moving platforms, and tight spaces meant for sliding.

These were the ones he could do so far without Qi assistance, the next stage after those included a swinging mechanic which he couldnt pass so far.

Also the fact he put the swinging mechanic in the middle of a long jump, which was 30 meters above ground. That was the worst part in his opinion.

'Curse who ever designed this! Oh wait its me...' He decided to have an option of lowering the height of falls.

He turned off the game, his body still shaking from the falls. He needed some rest after all that mental strain.

"Right... The npcs... Ugh, I'll do them tomorrow." He jumped onto the bed and snoozed to sleep.

End of chapter,

(If you want you can give name ideas for games, or even suggestions on what he should make, for now, parkour game needs a name. Bye.)
