Humans who were turned into vampires were the ones always at risk of turning rogue, as their human heart never stopped beating within their body. While being a vampire gave one the ability to live longer than any creature on earth, when the heart still beats, it could not live for that long and instead turned corrupted, making one lose their sanity and become the walking dead. They would kill and attack anyone on sight. They did not bite only to feed on blood but to kill and feed on the flesh of those who fell prey—humans and vampires alike.
Cordelia continued to speak even though Rohan did not comment on the death of the Hathaway family. He was incapable of sympathy, and he would not fake it. He did not feel for them nor the only infant that had survived the attack. The world could burn down to dust and he would feel nothing and walk down their burnt flesh like sand. The last feeling of sympathy he had was many years ago, and he had forgotten what it felt like now.
