Staring at the window, Belle recalled the ring Rohan had tossed out of it, and she clenched her fists. She would get it back, Belle decided. Thankfully, he had not tossed it into the fireplace that was now dimmed, and the logs had turned to ashes, or she would not have the chance of getting it back.
He had no regard for her family or Jamie, but she did. To her, whatever her parents had done was all because of what had happened years ago, and if she managed to succeed in this mission and make them proud, they might find it in their hearts to accept her again, just like when she was little before that incident. Thus, she would need to make sure she left this land with herself intact and her resolve still there.
