A red button with the sign 'Don't push.' A typical trope that anyone who watched or played games would recognize. Of course, they had to push it.
"Is it a trap?" Issei asked, "I mean... This is the most obvious trap ever."
"But we don't know what would happen if we didn't push the button." Rias said.
"I agree. It might open a door to a shortcut, or it might be an item. Or maybe the boss room is beyond this." Kiba added, his eyes full of curiosity.
"Either way, this is the only path." Sona pushed her glasses up, "We can't proceed further if we don't push it."
"Then... Do we need to push it?" Issei gulped, "I don't like traps..."
"Who would?" Rias said, "Issei, you push the button."
"Eeeeeeh?" Issei exclaimed, shocked, "Me?"
"Well, you're our Pawn." She shrugged her shoulders and smirked. "Or do you want Koneko to be the one pushing that button?" She said and glanced at the white-haired girl.
Koneko looked back at Issei and shrugged, "... I am okay with that."
"Okay. I got it." Issei scratched his head, feeling guilty, "I will do it. But President, if I get hurt, can I touch your oppai as compensation?"
Rias grinned mischievously, crossed her arms under her ample breasts, causing them to jiggle, and said, "If it is necessary, I will give you permission. However, you can't get hurt."
"Yes, yes... Okay." Issei sighed. He knew she wouldn't be that nice, "So... How should we prepare?" He looked back at the red button, gulping.
Everyone looked at the button on the wall, not knowing what to expect. Kiba stood in the front while Koneko positioned herself on the left side. Their sword and fists were ready in case a trap sprung out or a monster attacked them from behind.
Rias and Akeno also stood together in the back while Issei positioned himself in the middle, his finger pointing at the red button. And then, with one push...
DING!
Tang tang tang tang!
The door to the left of the wall suddenly opened, and a bright light illuminated the whole area. It was a hidden path, revealing a staircase to the third floor. A triumphant melody rang around them as if celebrating the completion of the dungeon.
"Did we clear it?" Issei couldn't help but ask. His finger is still on the red button.
"It seems like it..." Sona said as she approached the staircase, looking around. The place seemed safe and she couldn't detect any danger, so she turned back, "There's no sign of any trap. I don't sense anything dangerous. Let's continue to the third floor."
"Wait, we need to be ready first." Rias stopped them by raising her hand, "This flow... I recognize it. There might be the strongest monster waiting for us there."
"A Boss?" Issei muttered and looked around, his face paled, "What? But... How can you tell?"
"I have been playing enough games and watching dungeons in anime." Rias answered, puffing her chest proudly, "It seems like the creator of this place is inspired by them."
"I agree." Akeno nodded. Her long black hair swaying around her, "But if there's a boss, we can beat it, right? After all, we have our President and Sona-senpai."
"That is true. I agree. But we still have to be cautious. If the enemy is strong enough, we might have to fight for our lives." Rias looked around at her peers. Her eyes narrowed, and her expression turned serious.
"Ise. Be on your guard."
"Yes!" Issei nodded.
They proceeded through the path, climbing up the staircase carefully.
Upon arriving on the third floor, the room was completely different from the first and second floors.
The third floor's design was that of a coliseum arena with a high ceiling. There were rows of stone seats on either side, arranged like bleachers. They were empty now, but they gave the place a sense of grandeur.
In the center of the arena, there stood an imposing figure—a huge, muscular minotaur. Beside him, twenty slimes could be seen bouncing up and down with a wet sound.
Rias gasped as soon as she saw the monster. She knew how powerful that Minotaur was from the myths. If the dungeon's monsters followed their original myth, then this would be the toughest battle yet.
"I think this is the final stage of this floor," she said with a voice loud enough everyone could hear, "A minotaur and 20 slimes. It's a bit much for me to handle alone."
"I agree," Issei said, his voice shaking a bit, "This is not going to be easy. But we should try."
"Yes," Rias said, her expression stern but determined, "Let's do it. Issei, I will allow promotion for your pawn pieces."
Issei's expression immediately became excited, "Alright! Promotion, Queen!" He clenched his fists, feeling the power surging within his body. It was an incredible feeling. He could feel his muscles growing stronger and his body getting faster.
"Rooooooar!" The Minotaur bellowed loudly, raising its huge axe, "Graaaaah!" Its roar reverberated throughout the arena.
Splash- Splash-
The green slimes jumped up and down, their bodies quivering with anticipation.
"Ise, Yuuto and Koneko! Keep the minotaur in check. We will deal with the slime," Rias ordered, her eyes narrowed, "Akeno, show them our power."
"My, my. So many of them are trying to make us wet, how lewd." Akeno smirked, lightning sparked from her hand as she prepared her thunder magic.
"Then, let us start." Sona raised her hand and water gushed from the floor like a water fountain, before shaping itself into spears.
The three vanguards, with Issei and Koneko in the front, charged at the Minotaur. The Minotaur swung its axe at the trio, sending shockwaves in the air.
Issei dodged it, the gem on his gauntlet shining in the dark. Kiba jumped over the axe's blade, landing safely on the other side. Koneko jumped up high and slammed her fist on the monster's head. Her fist smashed the monster and caused it to stumble.
But it didn't stop it. Instead, it swung its giant weapon again, aiming at Kiba who had been trying to find an opening. However, Issei managed to get in front of it just in time. He raised his gauntleted arm to stop the blow, using his body to take the impact of the axe. The axe crashed into him and pushed him back a bit.
"Ugh!"
At that moment, the slimes pounced at them, aiming their tentacles at Issei, but they were shot to the wall when Akeno blasted them with a lightning bolt. She followed it with another bolt that zapped the Minotaur. It roared in anger, but the electricity was not enough to kill it.
