Chapter 8 - Glimps of Each Other part IV

Leaving the unconscious man behind, he walked out of the kitchen area, wiping the blood off his hands in the process.

Then, the alarm kicked in, ringing throughout the entire building.

"Kind of late, don't you think?" he murmured to himself.

Reaching the lobby, he reunited with his colleagues.

"...I've taken care of that giant."

Surprised expressions filled their faces. They certainly had many questions, but now wasn't the time.

"Send a message to the superior... I'll be heading outside," he said, leaving only a few words before walking off.

As he approached the dead guard's body, his steps slowed.

Arrows... Must be an archer. From the looks of it, these three were in the same group.

The second he stepped outside, a whistling sound cut through the air, closing in on him.

Instinctively, he raised his left hand, stopping the noise.

He had caught an arrow. One that had been aimed straight for his head.

It came from nowhere... A hidden magic.

Two more whistling noises followed, but just like before, he caught both arrows with ease.

"You really think these would hit me?"

With a flick of his wrist, he threw them away before vanishing from where he stood.

Where did he go...?

No way someone can move that fast... but I didn't sense any magic.

Suddenly, a weight pressed down on her left shoulder.

"Found you."

Before she could react, she was slammed into the ground, her invisibility breaking.

Jumping down after her, he walked toward the archer.

"Even while cloaked, I could still hear the sound of your breathing."

She scrambled to her feet, but then she noticed her bow was gone.

"Looking for this?" he asked, gripping her bow tightly in his right hand.

But the archer didn't look afraid.

A rustling noise came from behind him.

He ducked, barely avoiding a stab. Using the bow, he hooked the masked attacker by the neck and slammed him to the ground.

Durable... he thought. A blow like that should've killed him.

The masked man quickly cut the bowstring and retreated into the shadows.

"You think I'm going to play cat and mouse with you?" He scoffed. "Think again."

He sprinted toward the archer.

She barely had time to react...only managing to take a single step back.

The masked man rushed out from the darkness, but it was too late.

Grabbing one of the fallen arrows, he stabbed it straight through the archer's heart.

A cry of agony rang out.

"No!"

The masked man lunged at him in blind rage.

Without hesitation, he caught his wrist, twisted it, and drove another arrow straight through his throat.

The masked man gurgled, blood spilling from his mouth and throat as he collapsed.

He only watched as the life drained from him.

"I left one alive... That should be more than enough for interrogation. If I wasn't here, I wonder if they could have wiped out the entire building... Well, no point wondering that now."

He turned around, leaving the bloody scene behind.

*The next day

Anything that was broken that night was able to be fixed in time, and the grand meeting was held successfully.

When morning arrived, more superiors showed up at the headquarters.

The superior in charge was informed of the incident, and the guy I left alive is being interrogated right now.

As for me... I didn't get anything in return. Because I gave the credit to everyone instead of only myself. Even though I know sooner or later the organization will probably find out the truth.

But hey, I want to have a bit of fun first before anything happens.

That being said, I haven't even caught a glimpse of my mistress.

*He, along with a few others of the same rank, worked as attendants for all the organization members arriving today.

So far, about 80 percent of the people on the list had arrived.

Sigh... Why is she taking so long to arrive? It's already sunset... She's coming, right?... I hope so.

As if the world had heard his wishes, the noise of a carriage grew louder, and he grew tense, feeling something familiar.

His heartbeat was rising, but he needed to stay calm.

As the carriage stopped in front of the gate, he and the others started lining up at the sides.

Even though his face was covered with a mask, his eyes were locked onto the door handle.

As the door opened, a sense of relief filled him.

A foot wearing crimson high heels stepped outside of the carriage. Then, the other foot followed, and finally, her whole body emerged.

Everyone standing on the sides tensed from the dangerous intent. But not him.

He was tense for another reason.

Watching as she walked by, her white and black hair trailed behind her.

She didn't even spare him a glance, but he knew...one day, those eyes would be on him and him alone.
