Vivienne stared at her reflection in the mirror for a long time. She felt that something had changed! Something inside her felt... Different! As if... She was not the same Vivienne drifted off to sleep two hours ago! As if... She was a completely different woman!
However, she had no idea from where those feelings came. Could it be the effect of that dream she had woken up from?
Suddenly, a soft knock on the door brought her back from her thoughts.
"Argh! What nonsense I'm thinking 'bout! It's just a dream, anyway."
She pulled the towel, dried her face, and got out of the bathroom. As she opened the door, she saw one of the maids standing in front of the gate. "Ma'am, Mr. Miller from the Ashford family has just reached. He wants to see you."
Mr. Miller, or Michael Miller, was her fiancé's personal secretary. He handled all the personal matters and important tasks of Damien.
She smiled at the maid. "Okay, tell him to wait a bit, I'm coming."
Nodding, she left. Vivienne went back and grabbed the gown of her three-piece lounge dress, then headed towards the drawing room.
"Michael, why are you here now?" Vivienne asked him with a soft grin.
Michael was holding a large, beautifully wrapped box in his hands; he handed it to her.
"Ma'am, you engagement dress from Ashford family. Mr. Ashford prepared it by himself and instructed to deliver it to you directly."
"Thank you, Michael." Taking the box, she replied to him with a wide smile.
But Michel didn't smile; suddenly, she noticed a look of discomfort in his eyes flicked for a fraction of a second, though he had hidden it successfully.
"Okay, ma'am, then I'm leaving."
Without any further delay, he left the house, as if he was waiting to get out for a long time!
'What happened to him?' She frowned but didn't think anymore and headed towards her room.
If Vivienne looked back, she'd definitely see her beloved sister, Sarah, come out of the dining hall with a sly smile plastered on her lips!
----------
Vivienne rushed back to her room; she couldn't wait any longer to see her engagement dress. She had been asking Damien for three weeks to let her see the dress, but every time, she ended up with the same reply, "You'll see it right on the day of our engagement."
She carefully unwrapped the box and then opened it. Holding the gown on herself, she stood in front of the mirror.
'Beautiful!' A smile appeared on her lips.
Suddenly she heard another knock on her door.
"Door's open." She replied, putting it back on her bed.
"Viv, I heard Michael has delivered your dress just now?" Her mother, Mrs. Winter asked, stepping inside.
"Yes, Mom." She smiled at her.
She patted her head with compassion. "Get ready. The makeup artist will be here soon."
"Okay!" Vivienne nodded, and she left the room.
----------
It took her about one and a half hours to get ready. As the makeup artist left her room after the final touch, she stood in front of the mirror of her dressing table. The dress, the makeup, and the jewelry — with all together, she looked gorgeous.
The soft peach fabric seemed to glow against her skin and the fitted mermaid silhouette hugged her curves in all the right places. The gown fell to the ground free-flowing. The strapless design of the gown and the diamond necklace she wore framed her heart-shaped face; the subtle glowy makeup and juicy lipgloss made her face brighter than ever!
Vivienne smiled, she felt like a princess today, a princess of Disneyland, waiting for her prince charming to come and claim her!
But...!
Suddenly, the earlier odd feeling arose in her mind again! She couldn't understand, why did she feel it, but looking at her reflection in the mirror, she felt something was wrong! It was as if her subconscious mind was trying to remember something!
And all the confusion cleared in a few minutes when she finally found out why she had felt this way.
The dress looked exactly similar to the gown she wore in her engagement ceremony in her dream!
The design, the sewing patterns, the stones, the net lining on the silk fabric of the free-flowing lower part, even the diamond necklace she wore — everything was exactly the same as her dream!
'What's this!' She muttered, her eyes widened in disbelief! 'Did I really see my engagement dress in my dreams!'
'But, how's this even possible?' 'But again... Why does it feel so eerily... Familiar?'
But before she could think more her mother's voice came from outside. "Viv, are you ready? We have to leave now, the Ashfords have already arrived at the venue."
Vivienne didn't think much, burying all the thoughts in her mind, she replied. "I'm ready, Mom."
She picked up her purse and headed out. Mr. And Mrs. Winter stood in the drawing room. Mrs. Winter's eyes were filled with fascination, "Viv, you look beautiful today!"
Mr. Winter smiled at her. He never expressed his emotions, always maintaining a cold image. "Good. Let's go."
Vivienne looked around. "Where's brother?"
Mrs. Winter smiled. "He's already reached the venue. Someone had to be there from the bride's side."
'Bride's side.' the word 'Bride' alone made her blush.
"And Sarah?"
She let out a sigh. "This girl! You know your sister very well. At the last moment, she messed up. The lace of her dress was torn, so she went to buy a new one."
"But don't worry, she promised she'll reach the venue on time."
"Okay then, let's go." She smiled; slippin' in the heels, she headed towards the porch. Mr. Winter already got in the car. As they both settled themselves in the back seat, the car drove off towards the venue.
Vivienne took out her mobile from her purse and then quickly typed a message. 'We're off towards the hall.'
As she sent it, immediately a reply from Damien popped up on her mobile's screen. 'Can't wait to see you, love!'
Vivienne replied with a couple of emojis, then put the phone back in her purse. It was finally the day. The day she was waiting for years! She closed her eyes.
But... That odd feeling didn't go! She didn't know why, but she felt constantly that,
Something was terribly wrong!
